  • I was scammed into buying a fake Seiko Sumo Hulk. Why do some people take the trouble to fake a watch that is neither considered a luxury watch nor a rare model.
    How to spot a fake Seiko Sumo Hulk is what I want to share with you here, so that you know what to look out for.

    Ask for warranty card even it is old and trace the serial no against the warranty card.

    I have that same Samurai "clone" and put it together with Aliexpress parts. Oddly enough I even bought that same dial for it as well. It was fun and yes, it says "Seiko" on the dial (It is an NH35 I guess) but I'd never try and pass it off as a real Samurai. I'd really never want to part with it at all. It's the first watch I ever put together. Good video. I'm a real "casual" when it comes to watches and so I tend to pay too much for the relative security of buying retail to make sure when I set out to buy a real one I get a real one. So far so good it seems but now you have me wondering "Would I even know?"

    Always check a luminous circle inside a reverse triangle on the Basel, above 12 o'clock - first! Usually, in fake models, the circle will lack a clearly visible/well define silver-colored ring around its circumference and will be too small. It is more like a dot than a nicely defined ringed circle, occupying a much larger portion within the triangle, easily noticeable in the original models. You can notice that immediately in that side-by-side comparison presented here in the video. The dot is of the right size but lacks that well-defined circumventing ring.

      Good point. I can only confirm what you are stating. The lume pip seems very difficult to get right for the pirates 👌

    • @lavbarbudito3400
      @lavbarbudito3400 Год назад

      @@divewatchdude Exactly...Btw; can You verify the luminosity of that "dot". Is it at the same level/intensity as those inside the dial ring, covered by the cristal?
      Also (worth noticing)...that detail (missing ring) is usually hard to spot right away since it is quite tiny in reality. Here you are showing the enlarged image, but in real life situation - so easy to miss/slide by unnoticed.

    That is so upsetting ! Lazada has lots of fake watches that are so convincing. The seller's rating doesn't matter they are mostly fakes. I have purchased a couple of watches from them in Malaysia and I always asks for closeup pictures of it prior to order. It worked for me so far( I believe)! May I know from which seller you purchased?

    This is sad. Fortunately for me, I bought a used complete in the box hulk at 360$. And few days after bought 2 seiko (1 Antarctica monster penguin and another sumo hulk. With stickers and covers but with missing boxes and papers. I bought it from a wife of someone 😂. Both the Generation 3 upgraded version with lune pip on 3 o clock. Since I had an original one to compare with, I bought it. Bought both of them at about same price so basically. 199$ for the hulk. I can’t see any difference on them side by side only the scratches on the one I bought first. I wanted to sell them but my mind says not to and was rethinking of modding it to look like the SPB247 OR root beer or the black sumo or the blumo but because it is in Prestine condition I couldn’t do it yet maybe I will do it on the one with the whole set I bought. I almost traded it to a brew retro chronograph. It is just a lovely seiko piece and doesn’t look huge or feel huge on a small wrist. The straps are perfect for its size personally its my dress watch or my go to on occasions.

      It’s not the same believe me. When they are new they LOOK almost like original , BUT the specimen I have for example has developed humidity in the case and crystal has become clouded. Worst thing is knowing it is fake when it’s on the wrist.. you cannot unknow and you cannot unsee the telltale signs that reveal its fakeness
