FYI, as usual, Gyrados is very mechanically appropriate to its in-universe lore, as it is famous for just destroying EVERYTHING it sees in its blind rage. I do think that giving it an extra +1 frenzy would help make it a little beefier for all that work, though.

@Voyix Real-talk, there are a LOT of darker elements to pokemon that are not immediately obvious to kids, but are there if you look into the lore the games present. Gyarados is one of them, and it's explicitly stated that the evolution process changes it's brain to be extremely prone to violence and anger. It's known as the "Atrocious pokemon" and a "deity of destruction", and has canonically wiped entire cities off the map in its rage.
If something gains 1 frenzy, it has 2 hits. Everything can be thought of as having baseline 1 frenzy if you want, it's just not displayed until it gains additional attacks. So gaining 3 frenzy doesn't mean "set 3 frenzy" it means gain 3 more attacks in addition to the one.

Super excited for the Voyix/Liberal Friend collab to guess stuff about pokemon. I like all three of those guys/things! Also neat to see the magikarp evolution, that's a really hard evolve state. Too bad Gyrados is kinda bad. As some of the other commenters said, I think that the Jolteon evolution was because you gave it a magnimite charm, and magnimite is an electric type poke.
I finally have nothing to do today, and boy am I glad about that! Hope everyone else is having a relaxing day!

Gyrados is solid but he’s a little too normal of a unit after dealing with magikarps evolution condition, at least I got lucky with an early evolution after bamboozle to get used to him.

um, actually mister streamer, Frenzy is just how many times units attack, which is why Blaze Tea adding x1 Frenzy makes units attack twice. I.C.G.M. gaining frenzy equal to scrap (3) adds x3 attacks to its existing one attack, making it attack a total of four times. Eh? How did you know my last name was *Straughmann*?

There's a mod that allows you to increase the companion/item reward pools. You mentioned a couple of times in this run hoping to run into pokemon but you didn't. so you could possibly increase the pools to get some more variety; whatever feels fun and fair to you! You can do something like 4/5 instead of the usual 3, although the mod goes up to something like, 40, I think 😂😅

So, same deal with the Magnemite charm as the Murkrow charm. Eevee became a Jolteon because Magnemite is an electric type, as well as steel.
Icgm does gain 3 hits! It's just...already got a hit. Like everything else in the game with an attack market. It is a little confusing, to be fair.

A card with Frenzy 3 triggers 3 additional times, so it trigfers 4 times
Yeah, we are all born with one waffle, and if you gain three waffles you have four waffles. But the first one doesn't show up, hence the confusion
I sure do wonder why 0 counters are so jank in this game and in mods especially. Did the original devs hardcode "trigger at 0 counter" to all the original sun reduction cards, or what?
Is it just me or is Gyarados a little disappointing for the work you have to put in?
Imo it's not. By the time you evolve him you probably already have the lumin vase and can just give him 8 extra damage for free. From then on you just have to find one really good charm or a couple ok ones and he already dominates

@@weirdcreature9928its so hard to protect when it has to be by itself for fury value. And vase kinda feels wasted on fury. Doesn't help that he would need to bust through the tanky 90 hp enemies first on frost gang fight to acess the real dangerous ones, which his highish turn timer does not do him favors in killing fast
@@art-cs6us I will admit it's not very good without charms, but find it a barrage charm, gnome charm or any turn counter reduction charm and it can chew through enough enemies before dying. The biggest problem is as you say that it has to be alone in the row so it's hard to protect it but that can be worked around based on what cards you have
@@weirdcreature9928 i mean, gyrados does seem it would be okay at normal fights, but just seems to lose a lot a steam in frost gang. Problem being, its already so hard to even try to evolve magikarp, and its basically unpickable super early when you NEED a unit asap that it only gets to evolve at the tail end of a run. Its so much risk for whats argubly...not very much reward. Sunglass charm is basically unplayable on gyrados, which especially sucks when its meant to be a carry dps. Honestly, best thing to do is slap durian on it and turn it into foxy sidegrade doing 16 damage on a 4 turn timer instead of 15 on a 3 turn timer. Or smackback i guess. He literally just toaster with 1 turn higher and assassinates you with pretty much no synergy with your deck/other units besides argubly snuffer. Honestly, what would fix gyrados is either give him barrage or have 15-20 hp base. The real gyrados is a massive lad, he deserves it

@@lvlen-125thats actually so dog, its worse bombom thats so much harder to make work. I mean, i guess at BASE its 24 damage every 4 turns if you want to actually lumin vase it but... most of the time jailer/crusher are going to absorb all the damage

Yeah, this mod seems like it has a few super hard evolutions that are not really worth it. Gyarados is basically fine, maybe even above average, but for the amount of trouble he puts you through (and the downsides of hitting your own units) he should really do more. Maybe the evolution should be to kill some enemies instead? Croagunk similarly has way too much investment though at least the unit is basically fine at base, so you just get a free stat boost if you end up using him at the carry.

That's just usual Voltorb behavior for this mod. Supposed to resemble them imitating items in the pokemon games or something like that.
36:10 i get what you mean but gaining 1 frenzy means hitting twice, 2 frenzy would be hitting 3 times and gaining 3 frenzy would be hitting 4 times. It's frenzy on top of your normal attack but the game displays frenzy with that one attack built into the icon

I could be wrong, but don't debuffed units like Spinda get cleansed when recalled? Couldn't you have deployed and immediately recalled it to safely use the unit?
Can't recall leader, so leader will end up killing off someone. Its also just not very viable to constsntly have to recall and redraw to a unit to place them down.
You can replay the fight. If you turn off your pc before it is displayed the image with the hero is dying.
Just Broke Sableeye, man does it suck. My first charm was sun Charm so i saw sableeye had a 2 turn timer, and was like, I geuss this is the one. Then got Pingu for eevee to get glaceon. Machoke was filler, then i got scorch berry, and Sable eye cleaned up after that with persian.

Enemies go before your team, and you would need spinda to be in the backline to not haze your own units before they trigger
i think it's a little crazy that this pokemon that you have to put so much active effort into evolving has active downsides after doing so
