    In the early 70s my grandfather gave me 6 of these coins, when I joined the army in 72 I left them in the care of my mother. After that I forgot about them. When she passed away in the mid 90s I looked into what might have happened to them to no avail. Wish I still had them.

    Love the California fractionals. I believe they were hand struck and the primitive look to them is so cool. Call it my bias but considering the low populations and historical nature I don't know why the values aren't higher.

    Can you review some Apps that identify coins

    • @CoinHELPu

      I have, all the ones that scan coins that are created in Japan and China will give you misleading information and they lie in their ads to get you to use them.

    I have dug enough gold to make a coin. I taught myself the refining proccess and minting proccess.
    Panning sluicibg and dredging...metal detecting and general prospecting.. its hard to find gold someone else doesnt already own. In 1848 in Ca gold fields you could pull 12 pounds of nugets by hand in a months work from the gravel flats near sutters mill. In fact recorded by many who did so that first year.
    I find much more easily aquired and refined gold urban prospecting. E waste. Jewlery. Art. [I refine more silver than gold...its EVERUWHERE!! But same thing ive dug enough galena to mill a coin ....but most of the galena ive found was waste pile leavings only once in nearly 50 years of looking did i find an ore pocket by the sign in the rock... and that was a road cut in a closed to mineral entry district that played out 100 years ago [ they never did get it all]
    That is a sweet set of coins. Did you already sell the reject?

    I have like 5 graded ngc ones , but 1 is in an older air holder , it comes up on ngc but with no picture ??? And another one a 1/2 bear token which are faked a lot , it scans authentic with a picture , but it just doesn’t look. Right ?? Do you think ngc has graded some fakes ?? Or am I overthinking ??

    I would say you got a very positive result on that submission for sure. Would be a great item for a California museum with a gold rush display section to obtain as a group. Wondering if it could possibly be sold to a museum like that, or someone (deep pockets collector!) to purchase as a lot as you bought it, to then loan to a museum for that purpose. I think even non coin collectors could really appreciate and enjoy these that way.

    Imagine trying to use these coins for commerce. So tiny and if happened to drop one it was probable a major task to find them again. I remember dropping at early half dime in my kitchen and I was never able to find it again. It probably got under or between a cabinet and was lost probably until the new home owners remodeled the kitchen...LOL

    • @leechild4655
      @leechild4655 11 часов назад

      I dropped a coin in my kitchen once and the only way I found it was to run my finger up along a shelf where it had bounced off the ground and up on the inner ledge of the cabinet. unreal.
