What the dancers have on their feet is called Di- Phatisi (it made from goat skin). The dance is also called Phathisi and it's a traditional dance of the Batswana people of South Africa and Botswana. ❤️
SOWETO means South Western Townships because its a group of townships (hoods) close to each other that's why there are 2 railway 🚆 lines, one to Naledi, one to Dube.
As always, great reaction. I'm late but I recommend this video "Diphologolo di itsi Setswana NWU SERENADES" if you want to see more of Setswana Dance. I promise, you wont regret it.
I'm a black South African, my family was not traditional , I grew up to Black American music , Italian food, Indian food, Mexican food, to this day I don't eat much of cultural food. That being said I really love my country and people in it and proud to be a South African.
No that is not the gumboot dance ..It's called Phathisi and it's a traditional Setswana dance. It is a bit similar to gumboot dance though but it's much much older than the gumboot dance.😊
I would say Gumboot dance copied some of it's moves from phathisi dance.Gumboots dancers when they perform for the crowd they dress like miners.Even the 90s street dance isibhujwa has got some gumboot dance moves where the dancers sort of hit themselves before breaking themselves so don't get confused.Watch carefully 👀,this is not Gumboots.
The guys did a good job but they could have given more information. They left out some important information such as '' the Hector peterson square was named after a boy who died in 1976 when black students contested because they did not want to use Afrikaans as a language of communication at school. And they mentioned Makaziwe but they didn't mention mama Winnie Mandela's kids Zindzi and Zenani Mandela. Otherwise this was a great video but when you come please get a tour guide who knows the full history and you will enjoy a lot.
@@TheDemouchetsREACT It can be busy but it goes with seasons. There aint a lot of tourists now because we are approaching winter. Most visitor come around september.
As a Mokwena from Botswana am proud of the traditional group

Born and bred in Orlando West Ngakane Street...not far from Vilakazi. Proud Sowetan.
The way you look at your wife my brother, it's so beautiful!
Botswana has a lot of talent when it comes to traditional dance
I still can't get over the fact that Wode Maya still went ahead and said Soweto was the biggest slum in Africa
😮😮he said that??

Some things you might want to keep to yourself to avoid offending people. He should have just zipped 🤐 and kept his negative opinion to himself.😂
It is gumboot dance famous at the mines. By the way, I was born and bread in Soweto not far from that spot.👍🇿🇦

We’ll definitely get a tour guide for all of the excursions. It was an overview. It was interesting to see it wasn’t a busy place.

We love Batswana guys.
If you ask any South African who their favorite Africans are, it's Batswana, Namibians, Americans and AmaSwati.
Your chemistry is amazing❤
The best South African traditional dance👌👌👌 not Tswana but love them traditional
When are the Demouchets coming to SA?
It seems like BaTswana inspired the Gumboot dance.
i live closer to Vilakazi str Orlando West 🇿🇦😘
Interesting 🤔
I would like to check out videos on "car spinning" in South Africa... I am new to you and maybe you have done it
In any nearest town you go to you point up and wait 🙌🏾 for a white taxi 🚕 with a yellow line in the middle.
That's why you can't compare a developed country to a developing one.
SOWETO, SOUTH WEST TOWNSHIPS
