    Normally Batswana even after disagreements still maintain a cordial relationship with each other. Long after splitting with from each other, Batswana in both Botswana and South Africa, still have a strong cultural and physical relationship with each other.

    So the Batswana from Botswana originally came from South Africa. We still have a big Batswana tribe in South Africa mainly in the North West area. Some Bakgatla who are an offshoot of the Tswana people in Botswana share a border with South Africa, in a village called Sikwane. Bakgatla from Botswana tend to travel to South Africa during some of the cultural events. Its like going to Mecca so to speak. This particular celebration took place in South Africa 🇿🇦. I am also a Mokgatla from Mochudi quite close to Sikwane as well in Botswana, so your video caught my eye. I loved it ❤

      I don't know but I feel like Batswana comprise of many tribes that originate from south Africa being bakgatla, barolong, babirwa and some from Zimbabwe like bakalaka, bazezuru and some from Namibia like the herero, basubiya ... The one true batswana are the basarwa and bakgalagadi in my opinion 🙌❤️ I am a proud Mmirwa from Bobonong

      @jordanpapi9863 Basarwa and Bakalaka are not ethnic Batswana...they are Batswana by nationality.Meaning they are called Batswana because their country is named Botswana. Ethic Batswana comprise of Barolong,Bahururushe, Bangologa, Batawana, Bakgatla, Bakwena,Babirwa,Bangwato ,Bangwaketse,Batlharo, Batlhaping Bakgwatlheng . these tribesake up ethnic batswana
      Bakalaka.Bazezuru and the other one you mentioned don't share bloodline with ethnic Batswana.

    Americans don't be confused this is not Botswana but South Africa so Batswana original meant certain tswana speaking groups which are in both RSA & BW so Botswana & Batswana Motswana nationality came from that so we don't all speak Setswana or part of that Tribe.

    South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland should all be one country. More Tswana, Swazil and Sotho people are South African. What's the point of having separate countries. We would be much stronger together than separate as we currently are.

    Basotho and Bapedi are also Tswana, if you look at their tribal make up. So the true population of Batswana is probably over 20 million

    • @Onelove-Oneheart-h4c

      Nah fam. Basotho and Batswana are same people called by different names based on where they are. We are made up of 4 older tribes; Barolong. Bakoena. Bakgatla, the oldest being Bahurutshe. Basotho are a gathering of other tribes under Bakoena and Bapedi a gathering of other tribes under Bakgatla. Setshele could have created a Batswana kingdom under Bakwena when he gathered, Batlokwa, Balete, Bahurutshe and other tribes. Of all our people it is the Batswana who don’t have a greater kingdom. The Lozi have a kingdom

    Yeah, the split of African nations is the growth of Africa. Africa has over 4000 nations (tribes), but if you look closely, you see splits or branches which are all natural growths. For example the Zulu, Xhosa, Ndebele and Shangani are classified as Nguni nations, which they belong to the same branch. Another example, perhaps you never had of are the Shona's in Zimbabwe, there are 7 kinds of Shona's eg, Zezuru, Karanga, Manyika, Matoko, etc. Got it! Recently, I learned that the Luyah of Kenya have several splits.

    Batswana from Botswana 🇧🇼 originates from South Africa 🇿🇦 and there are more Tswana People in SA than Botswana 🇧🇼 there are about 10 million Tswana people in SA and there are 2 million in Botswana thats because they migrated up north during mfeqane wars but they still have family members in South Africa 🇿🇦 and Tswana is 1 of South African official languages so to cut things short Botswana and South Africa is 1 thing 😂😂

      Botswana and Lesotho are recent ideas. Our ancestors identified themselves by four tribes: Barolong, Bahurutshe, Bakwena and Bakgatla. The Basotho-Batswana people trace back to those four. It's shame many people don't know this. The mfecane scattered our people, then the Boer displaced us. But some of us know who we are. The Bapedi kingdom comes from Bakgatla, the Basotho kingdom from Bakoena. But there is no Batswana kingdom as it was formed by three kings of three seperate tribes. As for me, I am of Batlokwa, who are from Bakgatla. The oldest tribe from what I gather, ar Bahurutshe

    Basotho, Bapedi, and Batswana trace their origins to the four tribes. Bahurutsi. Bakoena. Bakgatla. Barolong. Basotho kingdom is the gathering of sister tribes by the Bakoena tribe under Moshoeshoe, who is Mokoena. The Bapedi kingdom is the gathering of sister tribe under Sekhukhune who is from Bakgatla tribe. This idea that Batswana or Basotho are older is misinformation. We are the same people called by different names depending on where live. We call the Nguni people Matebele. They call us Basotho. It's only later that the names got documented. There was no greater Basotho or Bapedi kingdom until Mfecane. Neither was there a greater Zulu kingdom before Shaka. There has never been a Batswana kingdom.

    • @Onelove-Oneheart-h4c
      @Onelove-Oneheart-h4c 3 дня назад

      Sechele I was the closest thing to Batswana kingdom. We need to realize that the gathering of cousin tribes was necessitated by war. Various Batswana (Bakwena, Batlokwa, Balete, and Bahurutshe) tribal warriors. Kgosi Setshele I. If the only identity you have is Mopedi, Mosotho or Motswana; you are lost.

    IDK hey 😅 think we need to do a little more research on Botswana before watching a 2min clip from SABC news that bearly touches on Botswana then calling it "Batswana" history ( just Tswana would be politically correct for this video). "A History of Botswana" by Thomas Tlou and Alec Campbell (1984). The book goes into detail about the many tribes of Botswana, my personal favorite being that of Bakgatla ba ga Mmanaana, which as you might have guessed is another Bakgatla tribe that splintered from the main tribe for just about the same reasons.
