A few historically-minded viewers have pointed out that we used an image of Henry VIII of England when mentioning "French Kings" in the introduction. We readily admit the error (it slipped by during the review process), but submit that the overall point stands; monarchs of centuries past were known to wear more ostentatious finery than what would be considered "masculine" or "typical" of men today. Thanks for holding us to a high standard, folks!

Marie-Anne LeCoeur (whose videos I love) says that the three rules of French chic are: Less is more, keep it simple and quality not quantity. I think that's equally true for men as for women, as you so wonderfully illustrated here.
There are so many channels for women's style (which is great for me, as a woman) and it's good to see someone doing the same for all the gentlemen out there.

@@gentlemansgazette Of course! As mentioned, Marie-Anne LeCoeur (who is a genuine Frenchwoman and whose channel is all about French chic style - she's currently looking for people to collaborate with, as well, if you're interested!). Alyssa Beltempo is Canadian and talks about style and slow fashion, and Audrey Coyne talks about style and curating a capsule wardrobe. There are others, but those are my favourite RUclips creators to watch.

For men more so. Typical men's jewelry rules with stones. Less stones but larger and better quality stones. And for rings it's often better for guys to just go solid 10 or 14k at best and go heavier and leave gems off. So beyond basic designs you're sort of left with very high quality and or custom designs.

I need to carry a keycard at work, and it came with one of those yoyo string things, which looked kind of bad, but I replaced the string thing with an old pocket watch chain that I attach on a belt loop and put the card in my pocket. It fits really well with a suit and it looks quite modern but in a classic way.

Actually in the watch world, while people do wear watches with a metal bracelet for formal events, typically leather bands are seen as the more formal or nicer option. The watch itself is seen as the jewelry, regardless of the band or bracelet.

Frankly, I like jewels and I enjoy wearing brackets with jewels. I’m especially fond of my emerald and diamond braclet. I’m sure it was originally intended for a woman. I don’t particularly care if it’s traditional menswear. I guess it’s one of those rules I’ve chosen to break. So, I think you should wear what you like and what makes you happy. The reason I wear anything is because I like it.

I think necklaces can be very elegant on a man. A thin gold necklace, maybe with a cross or another religious symbol on it is a very subtle way of adding visual interest and character to an outfit, since it's only visible when the shirt has a few buttons unbuttoned. Both my father and my grandfather pretty much constantly wear gold necklaces and I continue the tradition. It causes many people to ask me if I'm a christian, and though I'm not religious, I do enjoy carrying on my heritage.

I personally love tie tacks when I wear a two-piece suit, or a sports coat. As a lot of my ties are a little short for me, so the small end doesn't fit through the keeper.

I'm getting an amethyst ring for my middle finger on my left hand. Do I get a black ring to match my black baby gshock on the same side, or a silver ring to match my medium chain necklace, and hoop earring that is also on the left?

My mom bought me a black sapphire ring made with sterling silver, and I think it has some diamonds on it beside the sapphire, it looks amazing, but sadly it doesn’t fit, so I need to get it resized tomorrow, but, none the less, I love it, and the black sapphire means to be grounded in the middle of chaos with widsom and stuff, and I’m going to wear it probably on my index finger, as that is a sign of dominance and leadership. And the funny thing is I got it this week, which has easily been the most chaotic week in my life, Igor surgery and just not a fun week, so yea :) it means a lot to me, and I’ll still have that guy 70 years from now, knowing that I’ll always have a good life, and that my mom loves me so very much.

Oh shy by your words and rest yours breath in thy rips, you, my fellow friend.
And as I ask myself if it really even makes sense, what I've just written, I want you to know that I disagree with your one opinion about Wristwatches.
Yes everybody these days have a Smartphone, buuuut, there's something comfortable about knowing the Time and date with a turn of your wrist.
I just bought myself two vintage Japanese Automatics for
    under $50/each.
One was really worn off, but the other one!!!
It is so beautiful to me, it feels like a treasure to me!
Its all yellow, with metal band, don't know if plated.
Black dial with "golden" square ornaments as daytime indicator, golden Brand script
    (its a citizen)
All still shiny, with a golden "eagle" brand logo at the bottom and
5 thin dark red stripes going horizontal at the top and the bottom, combined with the black dial makes me feel butterflies in my stomach.
    Smartphone can't do that!

What is your opinion on matching metals but having diversity in stones on your jewelry pieces?

  • @Diamondsintherubble
    @Diamondsintherubble Год назад

So I have a very good question that doesn’t seem to get answered by anyone. In the instance of jewelry, are the metals SUPPOSED to stand out or blend in with skin tones? Silver seems very vibrant against my skin and yellow gold is very subtle. I’m confused on which direction to go?

I wear a woodwatch and people are always impressed. It is brown with a classic marine blue plate and offcourse not digital. I dislike digital watches.
Not sure what your opinion is of a woodwatch ?

What if i like to mismatch metals ? For example long gold chain thin (2mm) with a siver cross and a not so long siver chain (about the same thickness)with a bigger gold pendant ? I Kind of like the contrast
