I had the exact same problem with my windows not having a notch at the top, but I found it much easier if you cut notches on both sides rather than the one side shown in the video. Also if you live in a smaller town, good luck getting new coils, cause they are really old, and doesn't have much availability.

Hi John, That's great to hear you were able to fix it! Just be careful not to cut too much, it could give the sash too much wiggle room in the jamb.
