If you’re having trouble, try this. First, pry back the top part. Bend it down, but don’t break it off. Then grab it with pliers & slide the whole assembly up. Then the whole thing should slide right out.
I just replaced two. The first came out in 20 pieces like everyone else described. But once I saw how the replacement slides and snaps in, I just did the opposite to remove the second one & it was MUCH easier. Only two pieces. Lol.

Your video made it look so easy, that I got my putty knife and pliers. I slid the putty knife under the lip of the latch and then tried to pull it out with my pliers. I literally did this at least 12 times around all sides of the lip. All I have it bits of broken plastic!!. Something is making it not budge at all. Is their a clip to pop or something else on the top? Please advise!!!

I'm very sorry that you're having trouble with this Carol. Unfortunately, the design of most vent latches can cause a lot of frustration when attempting to remove them. We can't really offer more advice except for using a bit more force, along with some twisting and prying, to loosen the plastic enough for the vent latch to break free from the window frame. The vent latches in your window simply were not designed to be removed.

Carol is correct these Vent locks are near impossible to get out. At 41seconds a picture of the locks, shows at either End of the locks, a tiny plastic clip. It is this clip you need to push back toward the middle of the lock, ie push IN at the end of the lock at an angle. Getting a very thin blade under the lock is very difficult and a bit dangerous. I cut my self doing it. I takes alot of time and effort if you want to reuse the part.

I had to dislike this video because while your replacement part is good, there is no way it's this easy to just pull the old broken latch out. Those diagonal tabs prevent the assembly from being yanked out. You literally have to demolish the entire lip and push the latch into the recess to prevent it from catching. I wound up taking a carbide drill bit to the broken latch in order to loosen it up. Took me over an hour and over 3000 curse words.
