  • Ride along with Gary Smith on his record setting 204.1 mph run from yesterday’s Lake Havasu Shootout at Desert Storm LHC 2023 in this Circus Media House - EXCLUSIVE + Post-race Interview!
    Gary’s Skater 388 “Predator III” set the new men’s and woman’s records (respectively) for the #DesertStorm2023 Shootout yesterday with Gary’s 204.1 and Patty Rich’s 194.1 top speed in the women’s division. Predator III is equipped with 2 x 2000hp Carson Brummett Motors’ and was cared for by Vern at West Coast Drives in Lake Havasu over the course of the event.
    Circus Media House was blessed to be able to get this exclusive 360 cam footage from inside Predator III as well as an exclusive post-race interview with the “King & Queen of the Desert” themselves 👑

    You can tell where he hits the wind at the end of the course. The whole boat came out of the water after he let off. You can see the split second where the rooster tail has a gap in it when the boat is in the air and touched back down. You can hear the boat touch come out of the water and come back down too. Badass run.

    Right before he turned around it looked like he passed really close to another boat or buoy. It may have been the windshield angle making it look closer than it actually was but it made my corn hole pucker!

    I've been 108mph on the water and I thought that was fast. 204.1mph is close to double that. I'm impressed.

    I’ve been 155+, by the GPS, on Lake Powell, also a Skater. Pretty scary at first, then overwhelmingly fun. The weirdest thing? Once we slowed down to around 100 it seemed like we were just crawling.

    I'd recommend that he fasten the chin strap on his helmet. Just so it doesn't suck up on his head and cover his vision. As far as safety at that speed, it probably would not matter if he did or did not have it strapped if there was a crash......

      @@scottgillman4577 Actually it does , it protects your head on the way out of the boat then comes off instead of breaking your neck when you hit the water . No one I know buckles them . Seen too many broken necks from it catching the water .

      If you buckle the helmet and get thrown out the boat, what if water catches on the helmet? Instead of ripping it off it’s gonna damn near rip your head off! Most people wanna take their chances with it unbuckled!

      I was just watching a video that showed how many people died trying to get boats to go 200 mph and now you have modern stuff designed so well it looks kinda boring lol. That's how a planted boat should look tho.

      @@rickbullock4331 There's never zero wind out here and and at the end of the run it looks like the surface of the lake wasn't perfect. I think he did mention a section with some wind. But the boat is made for this.

    200+ in an open boat is asking for trouble.... Garth Tagge and James Melley proved that, with their lives. IMPRESSIVE performance but still... A capsule won't guarantee your safety but it will help...

    Gary, Wow! But honestly, the helmet not being strapped on, won't help much, might not even being strapped on and secured properly. The life jacket at 204 is merely to help find the body, if something went wrong. But, WOW!! 204 in an open cockpit Skater is fantastic!

    Tommy Boston you can’t buckle into an open cockpit boat. If the boat capsizes you will drown. Not that it matters at 200 mph.

    Helmets are a great idea…too bad at 204.1 mph they will not save you. You crash - you die. Excellent boat and excellent driver, but fact is stuff happens and when it does….we’ll, you gone brother. I wish this boat and all its driver, safety and success, but no such guarantees exist at those speeds. Remarkable achievement. great job.
