Keep making these vids I've had a 2011 328i for a year these vids have been helping me
Planning a big road trip myself!
Think I will check my coolant leave to, thanks Justin 👍
Drained, refilled, and replaced the some of the radiator hoses on my e90 last year. I even had to replace the radiator drain plug. Good thing it wasnt expensive.
Great video and love the tips! I agree, no reason to go aftermarket for this fluid since the BMW coolant is competitively priced.
Thanks for the tip! I will check my coolant level this weekend.
I found this video very helpful as it's my first time doing this. Definitely learned a lot from you, thanks so much!
You’re a wizard, my coolant just went low and I was just looking for a video.
I appreciate your presentation, editing & straight to the point without being harsh on what would happen if we don’t act on it. Anxiety lol. But thanks man subbed for sure.
Great video JB. Don't forget to bleed the coolant lines as needed too.
Thanks a lot my coolant just went completely out and just stopped on me. I didn’t know what to do. Thanks for the video! Running great now
Brilliant video, thanks! Very clear and straightforward.
Thanks for the heads up, I'm gonna get some coolant just in case
Thank you for the awesome video, had a coolant light go off on my E84. A quick trip to the BMW dealer and the grocery store and to my surprise, I had to top up 500mL in total 🤯
Great heads up ran into that problem a little while ago I think I watch ur older vid on coolant for help
Thank you so much. This was useful to me. Very clear presentation
An alternative to BMW OEM coolant is Zerex G48 and it's already diluted 50/50 with water :) just a tip for those not close to a dealership!
Does it work for all bmws?
I literally just got that rn lol
What about Zerex G05 ?
Hey Justin I actually posted a while back that I’m interested in buying the very same car as I was inspired by your videos and I got the vehicle. I’m actually watching this video because I’m also planning a road trip soon. Thanks again for the videos
Simple and to the point, great vid
Bro you are right on time 👍 My check coolant light came on twice already
It's the little tips and details that you wouldn't have thought of that makes your videos so good :)
this was very much needed, thank you!
Hi! Love your videos! Iv long been eyeing on the e90 and hopefully can find a reliable one soon. Anyway, just wanted to ask you in regards to doing oil change and such on my own. Are we required to do some kind of reset to the car menu and how to do that? Was wondering since the car menu normally displays our next upcoming oil change and the likes.
Another great video... If i may throw my 2 cents in, it's best to regularly check the coolant tank not only to ensure that the coolant is at the correct level, but also if any oil is getting in, this may occur when the oil cooler needs replacing
Do you know if it's ok to use 'OEM Premium Antifreeze 50/50 Extended Life-Euro' instead of the BMW brand? Same price but premixed
My BMW e90 recently showed low coolant level in the dash... so at least some models have a sensor.. I find that very reassuring!!
I had to refill 1,25 liters or so
(It was a leaking hose)
I like to put a bit of silicone spray into the cap to easily open it next time instead of just cleaning it
Man, your yt chanel is on fire lately. 🔥
Excellent channel! Thank you!
Great job Justin, Thanks!
Thanks for this short to the point video.
Short and to the point, something simple but nice that you made your own video on it. Nice. Enjoyed the background music too.
Thanks! My light just came on for this.
Thanks! How about a coolant flush ?
No idea about coolant- but please keep posting car vlog style videos!!
Just got the warning sign so here I go! Thanks for the video :)
Amazing video bro!! Thank yoU so much!
The most helpful vid thank you bud
If your coolant level is low, I’d check some hoses and make sure you don’t have a leak somewhere. Really shouldn’t be a whole lot of reasons for lost coolant, even between changes (or at least to where it’s noticeably low).
I’m super Type A and wanna know why I’m losing coolant, when that happens. Just went through this on my C10 😂
Good video! Liked it!
Thanks! Im going to keep an eye on it. I'll probably replace the hoses soon as preventative maintenance
Justin Buice word! That’s what I had to do. In my c10, the tank was low. The guy who had installed it (owner before me) installed one that didn’t fit well. So replaced that & thought ok that’s it! Then I kept seeing freaking coolant LOL come to find out I had a slit under one of my hoses that I couldn’t see! Good thing outa all of it, with hose being so cheap (literally like $6 for 10 feet) it’s an easy thing to do to stay ahead of the game!
Good advice! One more thing to do as part of this topping up is to run the coolant pump purge cycle to vent any possible air that may have found its way into the cooling system. This is done much like a normal coolant system bleed, with the ignition on, you set the climate control to max temperature with the fan on the lowest speed (if present, I also turn the temperature mix wheel located on the central vents to hot), and then fully depress and hold the throttle pedal for 10 seconds. You will hear the coolant pump start to perform the coolant pump purge cycle which lasts around 14 or so minutes. It is typically advised that you connect an intelligent battery charger to prevent your car's battery from possibly being drained, this is especially important if you have to or decide to repeat this process several times.
Hi, when bleeding the system with coolant pump purge cycle, should the reservoir cap be on & the bleed screw open? I will be doing a drain & refill. Thanks
Steve SAS, when I did this, I started by pouring the premixed coolant into the expansion tank with the bleed screw out until there were no bubbles in the coolant spilling out of the bleed hole. I then removed the excess coolant in the expansion tank till the dipstick showed maximum and then ran the purge cycle. I have done this with the expansion tank cap open and closes, doesn’t seem to make a difference. Some people do this with the cap on, and others not. If the cap was on, open it after the purge cycle and top up till max if necessary, then repeat the purge cycle. It’s also a good idea to connect a battery charger/tender when doing this.
@@pfoglar ok thanks for the advice, I will get some BMW coolant & deionized water (seems easier to get than distilled).
The bleed screw just seems strange to me, would have thought the idea of it was so air bled from it while the pump purging.
Steve SAS, rather try and get distilled water, deionized water can cause problems in terms of corrosion so I’ve heard. Most pharmacies should have distilled water if you cannot find at parts places.
@@pfoglar I've actually dealerships either use distilled, deionized or even tap water. They don't seem to car which lol
Great video! I couldn't figure out what the diagram on the side of my reservoir was trying to tell me 😅
Very helpful!
Amazing content thank you very much!
Caught this upload at "Uploaded 29 seconds ago" haha Now Im gonna go out and check my 330i coolant level. Thanks for the reminder! haha
Nice!
@@justinbuice how much coolant water i should put for my car e60. 1.5 liter is good or no
@@justinbuice cabin temp takes about 20 mins drive time to get hot, then it stays on full temp all the way back to 1/4 on the dial. No codes are showing. Any tips PLEASE
Thanks for your help. Appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Love your videos man and one question we have a Bmw 330ix E90 with a broken radiator hose. On e-bay the sellers is in Indiana thinking diy also miles are 154,007. Thanks justin
My BMW e90 recently showed low coolant level in the dash, when i open the hood, everything was spill, my coolant container was crack so i replace it
Excellent video. Thanks
Thanks for the coolant help gonna go check mines 👍🏽
A++++++ FOR THIS! Thank you so much!
What would happen if i dont add distilled water?
Thanks dude!!
Love your video man I have same car as you do I save a lot money watching your videos thanks man I appreciate it 😀😀 keep it up Brodie
Glad I can help!
I really appreciate it hey I have a question I’m go on road trip tomorrow where can I get a coolant ? From bmw or can I used another coolant bro
But seriously the most important question is...did you check your blinker fluid?
It seems like my coolant cap isn't flush to the reservoir when I screw it down. I got a radiator light 2 days ago , but it goes off. Recently got a flush and upper and lower hoses replaced.
Great video, thank you.
What do I do if there is no dip stick ? Should I just stop until it looks full?
you first need to unload what's left of the previous coolant then pour the new one,but even that is not finished because of the air pockets you'll get after that that can damage your engine and cooling system....it's safer to get it to the mechanic to do this
Can I do this same process on my bmw f30 ?
My coolant sign just showed up , making my way to Rochester BMW tomorrow am, thanks for the videos and always !
They will overcharge you if they top it off. Its easy to do yourself.
@@TheeRighteousOnee I bought it , I mixed , I did it 😎. Thank you, I also I had to replace the upper radiator hose 💥, it was a bad leak.
Justin,
I like your videography...how did you get this effect at 0:36 (when you trace the expansion tank)..
Seems like the BMWs need quite a lot of topping up! I never filled my old Vectra in 5 years! As opposed to every 1000 miles in my 330d E92.
Starting to get concerned now…
bro your videos are great
Thanks!
Thank you!!
I wars crazy try to check the coolant after I replace it in
I find out that I don't know how the floating stick at all any problem is i cant replace it and how I see no way to stick one inside
Yo Justine. I think my water separated from my coolant out the gap. Im in Phoenix so Temps get as hot at 140f road Temps. I was running 60/40. But after 1000 miles the coolant light came on n I was empty in the expansion tank. Should I run 40/60? 40% water 60% coolant?
Fyi: no leaks. Pressurized to 21.9psi for 2 min.
No head gasket leaks: used a head gasket fumes tester
Clutch 💯💪🏾
I've seen some videos recommending tightening the reservoir cap until it can't move anymore, while others, like yours, suggest simply aligning the cap arrow with the arrow printed on the reservoir.
Which one is the correct method?
I hope you have a moment for a quick response
My 320d E90 is 2006. My only problem is the heater takes about 20 mins to get up to temp. Then it stays on full heat all the way turned back to 1/4 on the dial.
Any suggestions as it's showing no codes!!
Nice what is with motor Oil ??
Do I just add coolant and water 50/50 I never added any before, and idk if I have to drain the reservoir if theres dirty bad coolant in there
my cap doesnt actually click when closed; is that ok?
thanks, i am try to add
Mine was leaking. Got the low coolant warning. Took it to a garage. They called and said, “ok. We looked at your car. It will cost $2895 to fix your car.” I had it towed to a BMW mechanic. It needed a $150 part called a heater control valve. That’s it! Beware of these guys that try to charge you too much!
Live your videos justice
Hey Justine can you please tell me why my BMW X5 sounds like it’s on like the air when the car is turned Off
Do you know where I could buy a antifreeze float stick ? For some reason my bmws is gone and I don’t know how 😅
My light is still on and I replaced my radiator last night and checked today there’s no leaks, has plenty of coolant, I bled the system unscrewed the bleeding screw ect, I see videos of people re bleeding but they don’t unscrew it from the reservoir tank they just start the process idk if I should re bleed it ?
appreciate it 🤝
like your videos :) , my coolant float is missing, what's the standard fill? thanks!
Without the float, I'm not sure how you'd be able to accurately top it off, but you should be able to buy a replacement float. I've read that they get brittle and break over time.
But if want to add water Do i leave the engine running? Please
I checked my coolant level. When I took off the cap I can see coolant all the way up to the top, but the float is way down. Any idea?
How much coolant do I need?
My coolant indicator jus came on last nite, then u dropped this video😳
Good timing!
If I went over by a bit would it cause problems?
You should verify your valve cover gasket because your coolant was very low
You don’t need to Flush what was in there before out?
Many thanks 👍
Ok how do we know if it’s low on coolant?
Justin is THE bimmer Channel
I was always told to top up when the engine is running to prevent airlock is that correct.,but obviously when it's engine cold
No. With this one just fill up to where he shows the mark and run the air purge procedure.
Does it have to be distilled water?
My coolant floating dip stick seems to be missing
I did this but everything turned to be very hot so I have to bleed the system because of air
Does this method work for a BMW 116i 2009 model? Or do I have to bleed it after?
I bought a used 09 328i with 72k on it should I worry about flushing to coolant
It's good to bleed if you introduce new coolant and water
So I put coolant yesterday an the guy said it was full but then I looked in my coolant an the stick is not their? What does that mean?
Thanx Justin! BMRGURL ☀️🌴
Tanks 😀 now I know
What coolant to use on bmw 2009 323i e90
Not taking care of the fluid killed my 328xi :(
