my office is “business casual but you can wear jeans every day” and my advice is if you wanna wear a tshirt wear trousers and if you wanna wear jeans or comfy pants wear a blouse! just balance it out and no one will notice😌
I work in an office and I just avoid ripped jeans, and anything that shows my stomach, but it really just depends where you work. I just try wearing new things that fit my style and no one has ever said anything about the way I dress so it's worked for me so far! Currently wearing a big baggy knit sweater I thrifted to the office, with trousers and heeled boots. Dressing up casual pieces with heels or trousers is the best tip I can give :)
Yeah bus casual is really just different depending on where you are, probably bc I’m in Florida, distressed jeans and slightly cropped tops seem to be totally ok w my bosses. The office is owned by a couple, the husband takes care of the books and things but his wife is obsessed with decorating the office & buying us snacks. She is convinced that a work dress-code needs to have room for experimentation & personal expression, and she lets us get away with pretty much anything AS LONG as it is for a look
I just graduated college so this video is a godsent. Whenever I get dressed and come downstairs for work my mom and dad both get mad and say “that’s not business casual” but as long as I look well put together with not too much skin showing I’ve never had a problem
I'm a law student in my final year and except on court days, I could literally wear all these outfits to my corporate law internship and no one would bat an eye. My senior wears even crazier colours which goes so well with her personality- and she's appreciated at the office and admired for her work/professionalism. I live in India, and idk about the American workwear culture but this lookbook is absolutely helpful
I'm implementing a business casual dress code at home because these were all so cute on you!!! Don't forget to hang the Everlane black sweater back in MY closet! ;)
I'm doing an internship in a big famous Italian fashion brand and the from the first day they told me "wear whatever you what, like for real" I just avoid short skirt and short dresses but really all my colleagues wear colour, fun dresses and often just comfy pants and Birkenstock so...I literally have no restrictions and I love it. That is how it should be in office where there's no clients in my opinion!
@@QueenCloveroftheice In my country is pretty common, you do an internship for your senior year of high school (as part of a protocol for you to graduate) and they offered me a job cause I was really good at what I was doing. That´s why and, I got my job at 17.
Watching comments about how this wouldn’t work, I’m assuming those people are American because these outfits are perfectly fine in Europe. I wear jeans and a tee all the time at the office.
yeah, at my job jeans are listed as against dress code. not just jeans, but denim of ANY kind. (denim jackets, denim jeans of ANY COLOR) in America, denim/jeans aren’t considered business casual
I found your channel a couple of weeks ago, and I just have two things to say: 1. You’re SO helpful,, like your videos are genuinely informative and give me tips I actually use 2. You’re SO PRECIOUS !? Like so super cute omg. Keep it up bb, you’re killin it with this channel!!
My favorite dress of all time are those TJMAX calvin klein dresses that hug the body in the right way for the office. They usually have a crap ton of colors with different sleeve styles, but I usually just take the sleeves off & they become the perfect business professional dress (think more upscale environments like big law offices, real estate, etc) and you can pair them with sport coats, jewelry, panty hose, heels, flats, a cute cable knit jumper over - what ever you want! They’re always 20-30 dollars and when I first started working every paycheck I’d buy at least 1 of those dresses. Now I have an awesome collection of dresses to wear to weddings, funerals, cocktail parties, events, interviews, presentations, and of course for the office :)
I work in an office, watching this on my lunch break right now!. I’m wearing black skinny jeggings with a belt, a black halter top under a cardigan, and some studded cowboy boots. I go for NY cowboy vibes when dressing for work lol. Lately I’ve been copying Audrey from Gossip Girl’s outfits too.
i work at a tech company and i’ve been thinking of outfits to wear for the past year but they keep pushing the return to office date because of covid 😩 but i still love this video thank you!!!
Most corporate jobs have a specific (written) dress code and do not allow jeans. Some are even specific down to the shoes-as in "must have a defined heel" to work in a banking industry call center.
But also as a reference in most offices unless it’s Friday and office actually says you can, you typically cannot wear jeans even if they don’t have holes. I work in downtown DC tho so they’re probably more strict than most places
yes! I work in a retail store, but the attire is business casual and jeans/denim is a big no no. it’s actually on the dress code list of not allowed in the employee handbook. like denim of any kind/color. that means no jeans, no denim jackets, etc.
I used to dress up working for a retail fashion brand. I'm a homemaker now but I still dress up. I do wear jeans most days but I pair them with pretty blouses, button downs or fitted blazers. Lots of ruffles or puffy sleeves because I'm obsessed. Sneakers, mules or loafers are my shoes. 😎 I adore all your outfits and the shoes are 🔥
omg I loved every one of these outfits. I love how you could mix and match the pieces and they all worked together!! I’m trying to assemble a wardrobe for work and honestly this video gave me so many ideas. Alsoo imo this would def work for business casual. Everything screams young but mature, professional and clean
you did great! I wear some variation of white shirt, vest/cardigan, blazer, dark jean/slack, and loafer/white sneakers almost everyday to my office job. Brittany Bathgate has been a huge inspiration for me on RUclips for styling business casual with oversize elements.
If you can't wear jeans to the office, try subbing trousers that are a similar cut/style! I always do that with my weekend outfits that I want to wear again :)
I work at Urban Outfitters and I always feel the need to dress trendy and cute and I never wear an outfit twice and it’s FUCKING exhausting. In October it‘ll be 3 years 🥴 imagine my bank account and closet 💔
omg i was also thinking about it but i would 100% wear mary janes all the time whether that be the dr marten ones or the ones that have recently started trending that are heeled from like urban or something i would wear those every day
I work at a tech company doing strategy and I could easily wear all of these! I usually don’t wear anything to expose shoulders or chest and also don’t wear shorts unless they are the 7 inch kind. These all work great!
I work in a school as a core content teacher (main teacher). sometimes you don't wear something because it's not common cultural practice; sometimes you don't wear something because a demerit or a comment from a superior isn't worth sacrificing personal style. that being said, I have pink hair in my icon and currently dyed my hair bright red and got nothing but compliments. there's always a risk in saying 'idgaf, they are paying me to provide a professional service and I do my job just fine even with my personal style' even if it makes totally logical sense.
Currently on the need for a video like this. I'm on a senior year practice and i need to look professional. I want to still look Young and wear oversized clothes but i need to keep in mind that older people don't see oversized as fashion, they see it as pijamas. 😭
My main thing at work is that I want to be comfy! Jeans (accepted at my work) are so uncomfy to me bc I always wear high waisted so I end up wearing tighter basic tees and some soft everlane trousers! I do want more fun outfit choices
I know my office is on the lax side of business casual and I am one of the youngest employees. I definitely have pushed the boundaries and it’s kind of made a ripple effect so I straight up just try not to wear ripped jeans and no crop tops unless they’re layered over another more modest top. Or yes cardigans and blazers will make almost any outfit office appropriate! Like you said, time capsule pieces are a must. Crazy pants are my favorite ‘expression’ pieces to the office! Okay I’m done lmk if you’re ever in AZ 💖
Im a real estate agent student working in a office and its sooooo different from day to day. When they are going out to met clients they dress up in suits and loafers (spot on there), but when they have paperwork or office stuff they come in in sweats. Often they have " regular clothing" but with an very nice handbag and accesories and well done makeup and hair. Also very cute. We often do ripped jeans but we make it not look "shaggy", often with a blazer. ps. all the girls in my office would compliment your outfits, spessialy the cowboy boots. Also in in Norway so...
These are great suggestions for people who aren't sure what to wear to work! I am the complete opposite of these so it gives me an idea of how to calm down sometimes and just be okay with wearing something simple. My job is working from home now and it is probably permanent which I am excited about but when I was going in, I don't think I ever wore an outfit of all solid colors. I have to be funky in some way so if I ever did do that, I would do a pile of necklaces or something. I am all about prints so I wore a lot of high waist denim and thrifted blouses tied at the waist and then boots usually. I'm always cold so I also have a cardigan or jacket handy at all times.
The dress code at my job is business casual but we have to wear dark colors everyday, but this video would have helped so much if we were allowed to branch out! 😭
I love these outfits! Where I love business casual usually means no jeans, unfortunately-- unless you can really disguise them sneakily as pants. Any suggestions for alternatives? Finding good looking trousers that aren't too doudy is so difficult!
I've worked in different offices over the course of my millenial life...they were typically business casual which meant trousers/slacks (wide or skinnier- but not skin tight), no effing leggings or cleavage, nothing see through, always closed toed shoes, and "nicer" t-shirts or tanks under a cardigan or blazer, or some type of blouse or button up. Maybe jeans on friday, but some places didnt allow blue jeans only black ones. Currently a therapist with preschoolers sooo I'm on the floor playing a lot. I wear "nice" jeans - no rips or tears and cotton or linen tops depending on the weather and sweaters/cardigans and flats or "nice" sneakers. no sweatshirts...and in no office where were we ever allowed to wear tight clothing, crop tops or sleeveless tops without a cardigan or jacket. The amount of times I worked with people wearing tight as$ dresses or skirts, cleavage...smh. one person wore tight or see through skirts, short skirts...ended up getting fired bc of some issues with clients bc they refused to dress profesh. SMH
My best advice to people newly entering office jobs, dont go out and buy a bunch of business casual clothes before you start working. I bought too many trousers and blazers only to find we could wear jeans everyday. Post covid, office wear has gotten so relaxed. I've found I gravitate towards my everyday clothes and making them appropriate than classic business attire
a sweater is actually so important in the office for warmer weather. most of the time it's too cold like a lot colder than outside so you need one... which is dumb but 😭
Ok small rant: Nipping isn’t “inappropriate”. Everyone’s got nipples. When I was in office I only wore completely unlined bras (and if someone comments on your nipples its sexual harassment in the work place) Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident!
