Maybe, maybe not. Liens have to be perfected to go into force and we don't know if that guy did that. However, there's a low probability that he did because he doesn't have a contractors license and is claiming he was a project manager. Project managers get a wage and it's nowhere near a million dollars every six months. The only way he could be owed that much is if he was illegally acting as a contractor and paying for the labor, materials, insurance ,etc and had a contract stating the total cost and scope of work but just saying he was a project manager to skirt the law. If he was, he has no legal right to file a lien or sue for nonpayment because illegal contracts cannot be enforced in courts. I think the guy is shady and completely full of shit. I think it's just using the courts to harass and delay the sale of kanye's home.

That is such a good point about the Tadao minimalist style fitting in much better in nature, especially a somewhat wild and wooded area, rather than as a beachfront house sandwiched in between other properties. It sort of reminds me of how breathtaking Frank Lloyd Wright's 'Falling Water' was straddling a waterfall tucked away in lush forests (saw it in person and it's still stunning, even if an upkeep nightmare lol). It wasn't exactly minimalist, but I'd say sort of a precursor to minimalism in a way, and it really needed nature to complement it and set the contrast.
Watching this after watching some of your more recent videos, it's noteworthy how much better your sound capture and editing is in the more recent work.

Love Ando's work and think your estimate is probably about right. A minimum of $8mm to bring it to its original splendor (plus another $2mm in architect's fees) and, if you are an architecture aficionado, you will have something that you are proud to own (and happy that you got at market price).
Tadao Ando is all about integrating nature (hills, land, light, wind, sunray...) into the architecture. You have a point that in this case it is in the middle of a RV-Park style area.
As of today the property is now listed as sale pending on Zillow with photos of the way it was before Kanye gutted it and this little note midway through the propery description: "Currently all interior finishes have been removed from the property, and work is needed to either restore or reimagine the interiors." The list price on Zillow is $39M and if the sale goes through, we will finally know what someone was willing to pay for it.
Ando is one of my favorite architects. I'm surprised he took on this job also. His work definitely sings more in natural lush environments. 53 million for that is insane.
This is one of the most expensive 'neighborhoods' in CA, and NO underground utilities!? The overhead shot shows the power poles and wires. We live in a neighborhood of 'double-wides' and our utilities are all underground...
i like this property. the concrete will do well against the ocean sea. part of luxury is wasted space, so when i see a big ass stairway that could've been a couple bedrooms, i think that's chic. all it needs is some wood, and some good finishes and voila - a masterpiece.

The problems with the house is house's in these locations in California are built so close to your neighbours house, you go out of your front door and it's a road with no front yard and finally it's looks horrible before and worse after it was gutted

In my opinion its a horrible location(for this price point)!

I think FLW's Falling Water is grossly overrated. I wouldn't live there if you gave it to me, in fact I'd tear it down and build something nice.
