That very straight forward simple statement of "a lot of this felt like it should've been in the game years ago" sums it all up and where I feel the series botched so much when it rested too much in cheap talk marketing to do heavy lifting instead of actually sorting things out sooner than later and passing the buck to 3rd party app makers and content creators to make sense of the dysfunction. The fact D1 shipped with no comms, in game LFG only entered the game late 2023 and I still can't get a number or % of what a weapon perk, exotic effect, elemental buff, whatever is physically doing in game is ridiculous and unacceptable for the direction they wanted to take this game.

It's been one hell of a journey that I remember first hopping on board your Taken King video, and your continued use of framing, excellent scripting and word usage is truly impressive. I got hooked on FF14 in January of last year right before Final Shape and the only thing that I can think about after the 9 and a half years I spent with this game franchise is "now I can finally fully commit to a game that respects my time." Since then I've played all the way from A Realm Reborn to the final mission in Dawntrail and it's been an experience that surpasses 80% of what destiny ever had to offer to me. Your videos continue to be incredibly well made and inspiring. Keep it up, congrats on 2 mil.
Your vanilla Destiny video got me into the channel, and to this day, I struggle finding other RUclipsrs who put as much care and time as you do with your video essay. I recently went through Destiny 1 after hearing that the story is basically completed. It's a solid experience that starts off narratively barren but picks up massively with Taken King. While I struggled to enjoy that beginning, the second half really justified its existence. But honestly, I'm struggling to work up the energy to play Destiny 2 as a HUGE chunk of the middle of the plot is straight up cut out and vaulted. It's like playing the first third of a story and then having to play the remaining two tenths of it. And that's not including all the seasonal content between the remaining expansions that are only accessible during that season. It's such a terrible design choice that I still struggle to understand how Destiny continued at all as it's just so hostile to new players.
I enjoyed the witch queen so much, I actually pre-ordered The Final Shape. I appreciate videos like these that remind me why I haven't launched the game in 22 months.
I was looking for this video yesterday after having watched the last one two(?) years ago, and then to my pleasant surprise it was uploaded today! I've always thought these videos were brilliant and insightful breakdowns of the game as it has gone on. Destiny will always be my number one game with missed potential. The art, sound design and gunplay have always been solid; but from day 1 the game has lacked substance to make any action taken within the game feel meaningful The building an airplane as it's flying analogy is very suitable. I always thought of the game like a house construction project. The release should have been a solid foundation for the expansions/seasons to add the finishing touches to. Instead, each expansion was like trying to put curtains up in a house that has no walls.
Alex I need you to know that I audibly yelled "YEEEEEES" when I saw this in my notifications. I've reached a point where I'm basically IN the hype cycle for destiny 2 content just like a destiny 2 fan, but specifically because I look forwards to seeing you cover that content.

From the player numbers alone you could really see just how many people only played The Final Shape just to see the end of the decade long journey we've gone on and immediately dipped afterwards. Like even in Frontiers is good, great even, a majority of the playerbase won't be coming back.

The story is good and the campaign gameplay was good, that's why people liked it. But the actual content added AFTER you do all that is pitiful. A raid so hard you'll never beat it with LFG, dungeons locked behind 20 dollar purchases, 1 (ONE) strike, 3 crucible maps that were only added after YEARS of complaints and Gambit has literally been executed.

I play alot of Warframe but i can only really appreciate it as someone who properly invests their time into it. Remember, Activision wanted to release Destiny sequels regularly, and the content of BL, TWQ and TFS (also keep in mind that originally Lightfall and TFS were the same expansion) roughly tallies up to a new game. But Bungie, and pretty much every gaming company at this time since the monstrous success of Fortnite, was utterly obsessed with making the next big live service, so they instead decided to release D3 ideas piecemeal

Games can actually endure for years, decades, if they have that special something. People still play Team Fortress 2, Borderlands2, and others. The fatal mistake is assuming that any game, single-player or online, can be monetised indefinitely. That's why Bungie and Ubisoft - studios famous for curated, finite content - are screwed. Greed, laziness and arrogance.
Havent watched the video yet, but I have been waiting for this ever since the DLC came out, I had been religiously watching a ton of your videos on my plane rides during the summer and frankly kept it in mind when playing through this DLC, and honestly, with the combo of lightfall being such a huge stain and the inherent lack of explanations as to what the traveler is despite being in its literal guts during the campaign really frustrated me, i did thought the witness was a neat combatant and at the very least its goal was tangible, but a lack of proper building to it made me not see it as interesting as it actually is, so it was fun to get a chance to properly 1v1 megamind, but it didnt feel that rewarding. Still, the inherent knowledge you'd eventually make a video on this at least kept me happy knowing I'd see your personal thoughts on it, I honestly love seeing you pick apart stuff and this franchise specifically, really helped me when doing my own personal writing to avoid certain pitfalls this game did.
As a person who stopped playing after witch queen. Expected outcome. I used to say I would show back up for final shape, but at this point I dont see any reason to go back Fun fact: Destiny2 has 1 person working "quality control" who is in charge of fixing bugs. Kudos to him for being the backbone of the game

Games can actually endure for years, decades, if they have that special something. People still play Team Fortress 2, Borderlands2, and others. The fatal mistake is assuming that any game, single-player or online, can be monetised indefinitely. That's why Bungie and Ubisoft - studios famous for curated, finite content - are screwed. Greed, laziness and arrogance.

Just this week I was idly wondering about this series of videos and here we are. It's a good day.
Havent watched the video yet, but I have been waiting for this ever since the DLC came out, I had been religiously watching a ton of your videos on my plane rides during the summer and frankly kept it in mind when playing through this DLC, and honestly, with the combo of lightfall being such a huge stain and the inherent lack of explanations as to what the traveler is despite being in its literal guts during the campaign really frustrated me, i did thought the witness was a neat combatant and at the very least its goal was tangible, but a lack of proper building to it made me not see it as interesting as it actually is, so it was fun to get a chance to properly 1v1 megamind, but it didnt feel that rewarding.
Still, the inherent knowledge you'd eventually make a video on this at least kept me happy knowing I'd see your personal thoughts on it, I honestly love seeing you pick apart stuff and this franchise specifically, really helped me when doing my own personal writing to avoid certain pitfalls this game did.
Been waiting so long for this I forgot that I was waiting for it. What a pleasant surprise!

As a person who stopped playing after witch queen. Expected outcome. I used to say I would show back up for final shape, but at this point I dont see any reason to go back
Fun fact: Destiny2 has 1 person working "quality control" who is in charge of fixing bugs. Kudos to him for being the backbone of the game
