I saw Kristen perform as the new singer of Flyleaf a couple weeks ago. She did an amazing job. She has great range on her voice. No she's not Lacey but Lacey picked her! I will continue to follow this band they are still awesome!!

I think she's a good singer, but I wish they didn't retain the name Flyleaf. It will never ever be the same for most Flyleaf fans. If they'd just decided to emerge as a new band, and with people knowing that most of them were former Flyleaf musicians, maybe it would have been easier for many people to give them a chance. I don't think she deserves to be bashed on though. She has talent. Just different from Lacey's. :)
I can see Flyleaf becoming born again after Lacey... you all have to believe if you're a true believer... Flyleaf is about continuing on and conveying a message... it's up to you all to keep believing in Flyleaf and their messages regardless of whom is performing instruments or singing lyrics... Lacey was and will always be awesome for what she has done w/ Flyleaf. The NEW Flyleaf has to have a chance... needs to be heard.... don't knock something until you've tried it, so to speak.

i know Lacey isn't part of flyleaf anymore which makes me super upset and sad. but God had different planes for her. and i know having a new singer is different now. but in the end the words in the songs are whats important ..not who singing it. BUT Lacey will be missed dearly by me and alot of other people. and i want to thank Lacey ...... she has changed my life.
I think she is a good singer, and as they go on they will find the right balance of song for her and no she wont be lacey, and no they shouldn't change the band name...tons of bands change members all the time. So good luck Flyleaf!

It appears from the comments that Lacey is our first true love. Just like in the real world our first true love doesn't always work out. But that does not mean you can't love again. Lacey may even come back if not with Flyleaf may a solo project or new group.
IMHO, I think he's suppressing himself dynamically, and he's very emotional when he plays. He does the backing vox on the record for "New Horizons" (the track, specifically). And many other Flyleaf songs. The man can belt very well. And for all we know, he could have had a really bad day(s) vocally.

I'd probley like Kristen if the band changed its name and she wrote her own songs. When I first heard flyleaf a crazy friend of a friend of mine left it at my apt.. I was curious and played it studied the lyrics and fell in love .I can't explain the feeling I had when I heard laceys voice. I felt so alive singing along with her. I you tubed her testimony and was in tears. I had finally got a hold of that guy who left it. This guy had tattoos piercings every where had that I'm a bad ass ill kick yr ass attitude .lol well when I told him about her he immediately said trash it.. I was like umm no. It was mine... and I was glad he didn't want it back because it was scratched from playing it so much I guess idk..I remember every time I found out they were in San Antonio I'd go to her concert. I remember once when they opened for Linkin Park and evanescence they were going to do a meet and greet. I was excited because I was finally going to meet them , but unfortunately it never happened cuz she was sick :( but anyways lacey is flyleaf....without her its not the same. sorry I'm js. Don't want to offend anyone.
lacey has a life outside of music. she's not there to feed the masses. cage on the ground and bury your heart pretty much says how she feels about the music industry in general. if the fans don't get that, then that's their prerogative.
I really like her voice. I think once she starts writing more of her OWN music then we might get a different and better vibe from her. Until then she is just doing covers of Lacey's and the band's songs.

Okay, so Kristen isn't a bad singer, I actually enjoy her voice very much. I grew attached to Flyleaf because of Lacey and the certain power that she has in her voice. In my opinion, the lyrics that Lacey sang always had her own type of passion to the song, along with the rest of the band as well. My honest opinion, is that Kristen will show her own colors when she creates a new album with Flyleaf, add her own passion, not just cover songs that the members made with Lacey.
She can totally sing, no one can deny. I just feel they can't have "Flyleaf" without Lacey, in which i feel they should have renamed the band. Kristen's voice just isn't the same, and evidently their music is pretty different from what it used to be, so why keep the same name?

Kristen has a beautiful voice....just wish Lacey didn't leave right after the album was done. The only thing i wish was to see Lacey in concert which i never got to do. Oh well, best blessings to Kristen.
Lacey fans really need to get the hell over it! I'm a Flyleaf and stand beside the band no matter the changes. I miss Lacey, too but I'm not going to bash someone I don't know and speak so poorly of the band she left behind in good spirits!
Isn't bad. It's true that she can't replace this missing piece of the band, but she's unique anyway. I won't compare their old/new things, 'cuz past is past. I just hope to see her improvment in the future =)
Lacey was the heart and soul of Flyleaf. From a talent standpoint, Kristen has it, but Flyleaf as a band needs to write new material that invokes Kristen's voice. These songs will never be the same, because they are Lacey's heart.

I find it hard to listen to Kristen perform Flyleaf's most known songs (broken wings, all around me & I'm so sick for example) but I like the way she performs this song. It's sort of a purer version of Lacey's original. Excited to see the future of flyleaf :)

i'm a great fan of Kristen and Vedera... she is an amasing singer. But the power of Lacey still being heavy even for a better singer than her. So Flyleaf needs to show us that Kristen could be the better choice... the only frontwoman for the band with a better album than Between the stars and the other 3 albums. Between the stars it's no so bad but still being a little boring. it's not the problem in Kristen. she is Amazing. they need to be AGAIN a band and restart all over again
People have simply gotten used to a type of quality or standard and we all realize that it sucks Lacey left because through the years her talent or skills has improved and so letting her go and be replaced by someone else is hard. Though I think the main issue is there's a few things fans expect to hear from Flyleaf that Lacey had helped to establish, a few key songs they expect to be as epic as it always has been, and when a new artists can't bring that same omph they're not going to be impressed. Having said all that my main issue is the lack of screaming techniques, the lead singer should make it a priority to meet the basic standards of what the band is recongized in being able to do, such as the screaming introduction to the song; I'm so sick. I don't mind the new voice, it's a good voice, the quality of her voice isn't the problem, the lack of diversity in techniques like no screaming, is the issue. Once she gets that and other things settled, then making it your own song, go ahead. I feel like she wants to make the songs unique to her, but fans have already made up their minds as to what they want or expect from Flyleaf, and any attempt to straight away change the sounds because of some new band member isn't right. First get the song right, don't fix what isn't broken, focus your new sound on your new songs, while keeping solid with the original sounds as well. Linkin Park took a new direction in their music but always performed their old songs like they always did. The song will sound by default differen't due to a new lead singer, no need to change it more.

Okay, so Kristen isn't a bad singer, I actually enjoy her voice very much. I grew attached to Flyleaf because of Lacey and the certain power that she has in her voice. In my opinion, the lyrics that Lacey sang always had her own type of passion to the song, along with the rest of the band as well. My honest opinion, is that Kristen will show her own colors when she creates a new album with Flyleaf, add her own passion, not just cover songs that the members made with Lacey.
She can totally sing, no one can deny. I just feel they can't have "Flyleaf" without Lacey, in which i feel they should have renamed the band. Kristen's voice just isn't the same, and evidently their music is pretty different from what it used to be, so why keep the same name?

Lacey was my favorite Vocalist of all time, till this woman!! Damn see can sing, and she sounds amazing live!! They both have something unique, stop comparing her to Lacey, she's not her and i'm glad she brought her own sound to the band... Well Done K X
Kristen has a beautiful voice....just wish Lacey didn't leave right after the album was done. The only thing i wish was to see Lacey in concert which i never got to do. Oh well, best blessings to Kristen.
It's bad enough that lacey is gone, but it would be worse for me if flyleaf completely disbanded, I think they should go ahead with the band
Lacey fans really need to get the hell over it! I'm a Flyleaf and stand beside the band no matter the changes. I miss Lacey, too but I'm not going to bash someone I don't know and speak so poorly of the band she left behind in good spirits!
Isn't bad. It's true that she can't replace this missing piece of the band, but she's unique anyway. I won't compare their old/new things, 'cuz past is past. I just hope to see her improvment in the future =)
Lacey was the heart and soul of Flyleaf. From a talent standpoint, Kristen has it, but Flyleaf as a band needs to write new material that invokes Kristen's voice. These songs will never be the same, because they are Lacey's heart.

Yeah Lacey left and we are all sad, but this girl has a voice. a good one. it is not as unique as Lacey's, but she can def sing very well.
I honestly think that Kristen is a good singer but... I really really love and miss Lacey.. it's like when somebody mentioned Flyleaf, Lacey automatically comes to mind. I just wish that the band put additional name or something so it would be easier to accept the new vocalist and style.. it's just that for me flyleaf is lacey and the whole band plus their belief and all, but since she not around i feel there's missing piece on the puzzle. ohhh.. anys, i like it and ill respect their decisions:)
I find it hard to listen to Kristen perform Flyleaf's most known songs (broken wings, all around me & I'm so sick for example) but I like the way she performs this song. It's sort of a purer version of Lacey's original. Excited to see the future of flyleaf :)
she is really good, the problem is we are really okay with Lacey's voice. 'cause Lacey have an original voice. But this singer have a voice that we can ear everywhere.

i'm a great fan of Kristen and Vedera... she is an amasing singer. But the power of Lacey still being heavy even for a better singer than her. So Flyleaf needs to show us that Kristen could be the better choice... the only frontwoman for the band with a better album than Between the stars and the other 3 albums. Between the stars it's no so bad but still being a little boring. it's not the problem in Kristen. she is Amazing. they need to be AGAIN a band and restart all over again
People have simply gotten used to a type of quality or standard and we all realize that it sucks Lacey left because through the years her talent or skills has improved and so letting her go and be replaced by someone else is hard.
Though I think the main issue is there's a few things fans expect to hear from Flyleaf that Lacey had helped to establish, a few key songs they expect to be as epic as it always has been, and when a new artists can't bring that same omph they're not going to be impressed.
Having said all that my main issue is the lack of screaming techniques, the lead singer should make it a priority to meet the basic standards of what the band is recongized in being able to do, such as the screaming introduction to the song; I'm so sick. I don't mind the new voice, it's a good voice, the quality of her voice isn't the problem, the lack of diversity in techniques like no screaming, is the issue. Once she gets that and other things settled, then making it your own song, go ahead.
I feel like she wants to make the songs unique to her, but fans have already made up their minds as to what they want or expect from Flyleaf, and any attempt to straight away change the sounds because of some new band member isn't right.
First get the song right, don't fix what isn't broken, focus your new sound on your new songs, while keeping solid with the original sounds as well. Linkin Park took a new direction in their music but always performed their old songs like they always did. The song will sound by default differen't due to a new lead singer, no need to change it more.
lacey chose her personally, so if shes a bad choice talk to lacey and tell her you mad a bad choice, she has a good voice, u wish you could sound like that
Can you all just stop saying such mean things about Kristen? Of course she's not Lacey -- SHE ISN'T GOING TO SOUND LIKE LACEY. Personally, I think that many of you would hate on her if she DID sound like Lacey! We all miss Lacey, but we need to accept that Kristen is filling in.
I do like it. I didn't think I would since I've only heard Lackey sing it. But I don't think she should hang on to the words like she does with some, I think she should cut them off and keep them short. Other than that I loved it

she has a great voice, not to say that she's better, she's just as equally as great as Lacy's her voice is just different. Great song, definitely hits home for me.

I think they should have changed their band name when Lacey left. Everytime you hear Flyleaf you think Lacey not Kristen. That's going to follow her as long as they are called Flyleaf.

And finally this girl doesn't seem hardcore enough; nor does she seem like that cares anything about Jesus. She seems like its all just singing to her, these are just songs. She doesn't seem like she feels them in her heart. Lacey always seems to want to please God and she meant everything she said..the word of the day is conviction!
