    Perks of Being a Wallflower cast: Logan Lerman as the protagonist, Emma Watson as the love interest, even Paul Rudd as a high school teacher! Classic.

      @trinaq 5 лет назад +11

      I agree, they really lucked out with the cast, and brought a wonderful novel to life. It helped that the original author, Stephen Chbosky, was also its director, which is a rarity!

      I'm glad Logan Lerman got to shine as Charlie because I really think he did the best he could in Percy Jackson despite it being a shit movie and that without Perks he might have gone under appreciated

      Don't forget Patrick, Erza Miller nailed his role and all of them made the movie 100% even more better. The director certainly deserved a nomination, it's one of the fews highschool YA movies I can relate to. Also the movie helped me a lot when I was a teenager!

    • @chloereith6631

      They took too much of the substance out of the Paper Towns movie. For example, in the book they have to get to find Margo in a certain amount of time because they’re worried about her safety, but in he movie it’s so they can get in back in time for prom.

      John Green is my favorite author and i love his books. I have to agree the book is way better than the film. The Fault in Our Stars should be higher than Paper Towns. I really want Looking for Alaska to be adapted into a film because that's my favorite John Green book.

      Right! I was so disappointed in paper towns! TFIOS was so much better!

    • @trinaq
      @trinaq 5 лет назад +4

      Too true, no chance is "Paper Towns" better than "TFIOS", even though I liked them both. I felt that the movie missed the point of the book, in that Q discovers that Margo "was not a great mystery. She was a girl", and that he had been chasing an idealized version of her the whole time. However, the film implies that Margo was JUST as Q had pictured her.

    Paper Towns better than The Fault in Our Stars?! Hahahaha *no freaking way!* At least TFIOS stayed true to the book, while Paper Towns changed so much. The book is so serious and dark sometimes, at one point Quentin really thinks that Margo committed suicide and realized how deeply sad she was, while in the movie it just seems like she ran away because she felt like it and wanted to mess with everyone. In the book they literally had to hurry to get to New York because they fought she was going to kill herself, _not because they didn't wanna miss fucking prom._ The adaptation is just a fun and quirky little roadtrip movie, while the book has such a deep message as that you should idolize certain people and that people can be really sad underneath everything. In my opinion it's the worst adaptation ever. I get that certain changes need to be made when you adapt a book and that some things have to be cut out ... but you can't just take away the main message!

    Although I kinda discovered it late, I ended up liking the Divergent series better than Hunger Games. One main reason is because TDS differs from THG and Twilight in that there's no love triangle. While the love story in THG isn't that bad, in Twilight it's obviously too angsty. There's just something about the relationship between Tris and Four that I enjoyed better than Katniss and Peeta.

    It honestly surprises me that The Twilight Saga isn't on this list. I get that many people dislike it and honestly, I kinda get it, the story is a bit cheesy and cringy sometimes, but the movies are actually very good adaptations of the books. There are a few minor changes but the story is pretty much the same, which I can't say for every movie on this list (aka Paper Towns). And let's face it, without the Twilight adaptations (and Harry Potter for that matter), YA wouldn't be as big of genre as it is today and there certainly wouldn't be adaptations like The Hunger Games or Divergent.

    I don't watched many movies but I saw number 10... wait wait wait!! Number 4?? Narnia? I read all the books but I didn't have the idea that it's also a movie !! I honestly don't read and Narnia was among the few books that captivated me. Thanks for the movie ♡

      @alexmeyer5260 5 лет назад

      Five Feet Apart isn't based on a novel. The novel that you're thinking of was written as a tie-in to the movie. It happens quite a bit. There's no "based on a novel" claim in the credits for that film.

    You forgot to add tiger eye. It’s a young adult novel written by Judy Blume. It’s about a teenage girl whose father was murdered in a store robbery, she her mother and her little brother are invited to go and stay with her aunt in New Mexico. Davey is trying to recover from the shock of losing her father and she needs this indigenous young man who is also about to lose his father to death.

    A great YA novel they should make into a movie is “Where Things Come Back,” which is incredibly underrated and made me cry. A lot.

    My opinion.....
    Fault in our stars above paper towns, The Hunger Games a very close second to the Harry Potter movies

    Thankyou for not including PJO, TMR, and Divergent. Narnia should be higher, Paper Town should be lower. I love TATBILB book, but the movie was horrible, as a stand-alone movie or as a movie adaptation, you should replace it with If I Stay. I love HP so much, but number one? No.

    Honestly the hunger games is the only YA novel adaption that still interests me. As well as the divergent and maze runner series because HG started that trend. I can't get into Enders game or mortal engines anymore. But Harry potter is still great too! But can't say the same about the fantastic beasts series.

    They should have switched out Paper Towns for If I Stay. If I Stay was sorely underrated in my opinion. I loved that book and the movie did such a good job.

      Just because it has a teen protagonist doesn't mean it's a young adult novel. It's never been marketed that way.
