NFS Carbon - Wolf crashes in canyon race

- Need For Speed Carbon - Wolf crashes at Deadfall Junction. Player car is a Lancer Evolution. It rarely happens, and I'm not sure what triggers this. The crash isn't fatal, since Wolf also appears in one of the other races in Silverton, which you may not have run yet, and in the final two crew races (just before you race Darius at the end).

For the video, I used a Evo, a tuner car. That's not quite Samson's comment in a race, and it only happens if you trigger a pursuit with him as a crew member. Each of the crew members will make a comment if you trigger a pursuit.
As much as I know, Samson says that when you crash hard on a wall or on a civilian car while using an Exotic in a race.
At least he says that line in the italian dub.
That phrase was refered to Wolf tho xD
And I found him the easiest boss to defeat. Out of 6 victories (while I was trying to take his car with the boss cards), I won 4 times by surpassing him after 1 or 2 corners.

You have to stay really close to him in the really tight corners (at least in the green or blue area) so his AI will speed up to the point where it can no longer handle the car and if its next to a broken wall, he will crash. But you still need to be very lucky. I only got it once
Bryant Ariola - Staying close helps, but the trigger for this sequence is random, and it's a canned sequence, always at the same location, and unrelated to Wolf's speed. The non player characters in Carbon and most racing games don't use the physics used on the players car, and in the case of Carbon, just adjust the performance of the non player cars to somewhat match the players speed. For example, if you drive slow, the non player character cars will also slow down once they get some distance ahead.
Bryant Ariola i've noticed every car in this game matches your speed no matter what, except if you have the corvette Z06 and are a really wheelie wheallie wheelie good driver
Ernesto Chang - It takes a while for the game to adjust the performance of the non player cars, and if the first straight is long enough before first turn, the Z06 can get ahead before the game fully adjusts.
rcgldr Even if you manage to build up a lead over the other cars and have a perfect turn in response from every corner, you will not be able to shake off the 2nd enemy Non player, he stays in your tail no matter what, and very rarely will he get a really good boost and overtake you second later when the finish line is right there, the game is bullshit, it tries to get you to hate its gut, and congrats, it did now the game sits somewhere in my basement after i raged and broke it... i almost pissed on it but then my dad gave me a time out
If you notice forza motorsport has never done this, NEVER!!!!! nor gran turismo, this is why i hate need for speed in general, have you played need for speed rivals?? oh my god is like every cop knows what you're going to do before you know what you are going to do!!! is impossible to shake the cops after you actually get into the middle of the game, like 50% game done, and the cops are like insanely hard... luckily for me i returned the game, i never want to see another need for speed game ever in my life is like a cash grab

Lancer. It'sprobably the best career car to use for the canyon events. I could have passed Wolf, but the point here is to show the Wolf crash sequence. I'm not sure what triggers this.

Note that in the final boss race series, the first 2 races are against Darius crew, and Wolf is back in the same car for those 2 races.
A bit scary, but very good video✌️😅. I remember I finished the career mode a few months ago on the PS2 and after that I bought a used PS3 but I didn't know about the little screen that shows you the oponent facial expressions, so great and the graphics wow👌
@samuelteam1 - on the PC version, I never saw wolf crash anywhere else but that last turn. I do recall times where his car looked like it should go through an earlier barrier, but the game seems to magically put his car back on track. This doesn't mean it's not possible for wolf to crash earlier, it's just I''ve never seen this.

@carlitox370 - This only happens at the bottom of the canyon near the water (maybe it's not that steep). So assuming this is part of the storyline, Wolf crashes but isn't severely injured.

Oh wow, I've never seen that before. I figured that if it happened it'd just cut to a victory screen, but it's got it's own little cinematic. That's real cool.
I like how you use the manual transmission in the limit of the gears to control your speed. It's such a great skill ;)

@Binkster7777 Oooorrr, it could be a fault on the rubberband AI. Basically AI's will mysteriously speed up a bit when they're behind, and slow down a bit when they're ahead of you. But for the canyon races, this behaviour is altered slightly. Instead of having them slow down while they're ahead of you, they speed up according to how you are tailing behind them. It just so happens that the rubberband effect sped Wolf's car up at the wrongest of times and caused him to fall off the cliff.
I so need this to happen right now as I'm having huge trouble beating him in Darious's canyon race with my RX-8. And no, I won't try another car, I wanna complete the story with only one car.
Darius never crashes, but the game does handicap Darius based on players car. It's possible to win with relatively slow cars, as seen in this video, where 4 different cars of different performance all pass Dairus at the same location (but at different times), bottom left is stock 350Z, bottom right is stock 240SX. I remember when i played this game as a kid and i would always try to push the enemies off the canyon, somehow it worked a time or 2 after many tries lol
@Binkster7777 - I'm not sure what triggers it, but that seems to be the only spot where the car goes off the road.

No, the opponent cars don't use the normal physics, and it's not possible to push them off track in Cayon Duels.
Using the Z06, you can out accelerate the opponent cars from behind, and bounce off of them like they were walls, without affecting them.

@Thefundude48 - if you pass wolf, the duel ends and he doesn't crash. The idea was to get wolf to crash.
That's what kills me. They fall off that cliff and hours of gameplay later, they brush it off...

Did this with kenji but the animation only played once I pushed him off the edge manually
had this happen on the exact same corner, i think it's triggered because you are pretty much neck and neck with him and you stayed to the inside of every corner, while his car slid outside

Deadfall Junction is a dreadful canyon that you and Wolf are going to do another duel.
Near at the end of the canyon, that part where the last fence is, that is actually Wolf's weakness. Sometimes he will crash there and fall. You have 70% chance where a random cutscene plays that Wolf is falling from the canyon, and you actually win.

It's because the player follows Wolf closely instead of trying to pass him. The car is an upgraded Lancer.

it happened to me once , at that same corner, but a little different.I was at the second race when he chases me,I was in front of him then suddenly a cut scene appeared .In the cut scene , he shouted NO NO NO , then he crashed.I don't know what happened but that was really convenient

I don't know what actually causes this, other than if you stay close eventually it happens after a few tries.
Lambo - the game handicaps based on what you drive and how fast you drive, so I'm not sure if this sequence can be triggered with the Lambo.
Wolf wished he had a tuner at that moment.
I passed Darius once at the very beginning of the race. And once he drove off the cliff. I used a corvette both times...
@2007excalibur2007 That is basically what I meant, although I wouldn't call it a fault. A lot of games have that effect. For example, in UT2004, the more you kill your opponent the more amplified their skill level, awareness, and accuracy gets. Same thing with this game. This is effect is extremely obvious when racing against Kenji. The games notice you are doing better than the boss/opponent and increase their difficulty.
i saw angie crash once. and i said its a sign since i never beat the game before. and its in this game that i finally defeated that dreaded audi
yah. but the possibility of that is a 50/50 chance. i tried it twice. one when i first faced kenji which i lost when i was next to kenji and resulted into us both loosing. the other one was when i was facing wolf (first time) and i made him crash by pushing him when we made a turn.

the rarest crash is where it rains and I got to tell you the 30th time he crashed on my xbox 360 there was rain and thats my favourite part in canyon duel and when he crashed with the broken window and rain

the easiest way to make wolf crash wolf crashes: before you go to the bridge make sure u get over 250,000PTS and the final turn make sure ur on the green or blue sectors behind him in the last turn.

As noted, Wolf wasn't killed, depending on the order or races, he shows up in another race in Silverton and in the first 2 races of the final 4 races, two versus Darius crew, two versus Darius.
When I had carbon I was stuck on this race for a long time lol
This happened to me too, and it is the same corner! It appears to be the AI driving line that causes this. Notice that somewhere in 1:41 that he smashed the signs that jumped his car.

I did this race a few times, and I think it's triggered by getting quarter mil points before that corner. Dunno why he falls tho.

There's a particular scene in normal circut race that Wolf hits a pedestrian and slam his head onto the steering wheel
I'm not aware of it. There was a tool that allowed every cut-scene on the Carbon DVD to be played, and I don't recall every seeing one that shows Wolf hitting a pedestrian.
It somehow popped out of nowhere, maybe because I was in PC version
