The chair combo thing was called a gossip bench. When people had land lines, the telephone was put on the desk and people sat on the chair to talk.
People still have land lines
One man's trash is another man's treasure
Great video and lots of good finds!I can't believe people throw so many reusable things away. You're right...donate them instead of sending them off to the landfill!
BUT if they donate everything, there'd be nothing for the curb shoppers!
that is a 40's era telephone desk, very collectable
That chair/table combo is, I believe, a phone table. Put your phone on the table and sit to chat. Nice and old!
That's an old furniture picking trick. You see any piece of furniture with drawers and you want it, but can't get it at the time, grab the drawers quick and then nobody will want it without the drawers and then you can go back and get it later :-)
2ndhanddaisy , wow you are an absolute genies wow that is a great idea well done!😀
Thanks :-) It pretty much explains why every time you see a nice piece of furniture on the road, it's missing the draws :-)
great idea
My neighbor was remodeling. He tossed solud wood drawers out the second story window. I got them, use them under my dresser and bureau for shoes. The arrangement looks nice and serves a purpose.
😂🤣
You are an "old soul" Taco 😊 I love your ethics. Your parents are so lucky to have a son like you!
That telephone table is cool! My Grandma always had one.
Hi, Taco that was a good pick up telephone & phone book chair I have the same here at my house use to be in my grandparents home many years ago also it had lamp on the table. Enjoy your videos, take care!
dude i found a 3 fan gou and i ddint even know what it was back then
The table with the chair is one of those antique phone chairs. I bet if you put that on eBay u could get some good money. Used before wall phones. We used them in the 40 and 50's.
Gossip bench - 1920"s 2x sold comps on eBay $80-100+. Good 2nd guess to pick up!
Never a disappointing show ever!!!!!
All good dude!!!
Sweet find on the tools. I would love to have that telephone table. It was a cute one.
Thanks for sharing your picking they are my fave. Loved the telephone table. 😻
Good one.. I'm kinda binge watching your videos. Watching one with the snow reminds me it'll soon be coming here..lol.
You're right about donating things, I'd rather give people things/ donate than just throw it away.
I just sold my house after my husband died & bought a much smaller place & I took LOADS of stuff to places called ' The Lord's Cubbard '& 'The Lord's Locker'..they help people in need.
Thank goodness you took the gossip chair.
I would go through all of this if I were you never pass this up.
At 13:20 that's an antique telephone chair you don't see those anymore.
You should pick up antique furniture those are the rage.
The chair table is called a telephone table. It's antique
Am i the only one who gets satisfaction when he takes away all the goodies?
What the heck is with tossing those tools? And that telephone table was amazing!
This is so nostalgic to me. I used to love doing this with my dad in the spring on junk day. everyone just puts anything by the road. So fun
That's a phone table and the green desk you could've sold at the flea market. If it's furniture and it's fairly nice always grab it Taco, people love to find furniture to paint.
I've said it before and I'll say it again I love, love, love your videos. I just wish I could ride along in person. Hope you and Salsa have a great weekend.
When I was slow with work years back my brother and I decided to see what the scrapping life was like. We had a 16 foot trailer and we set out the nights before morning trash pick up was scheduled in the neiborhoods here on Long Island. To my surprise we made a cool 200$ on average per night, which is a bit more than most employers would like to pay! That's for the 8 hours of pickup, maybe 1 hour sorting, and an hour to and from the scrap yard.
That chair desk thing is called a gossip bench. The phone was usually laced on the table part of it. I owned one once. Unique little items.
That was a telephone seat that you grabbed and an old one. The chairs and the Duncan Phyfe table weren't bad at the first stop. Those metal baseboard radiator covers are nice to have if someone has dented or rusted ones. New ones cost a fortune. I was on a job and the prior homeowner left them outside and ruined them during a reno. New ones were over $1500 and they wanted me to fabricate some wooden ones to save money.
LOL that chair combo as you called it is an antique and it is a telephone table.Used when we had the rotary phone-pre-wireless so glad I live in the south-no snow hardly ever. Love your videos
What's going on Taco!! 9:16 is a telephone chair. Your old radial dial phone would sit on top and your phone books would go inside. Sweet Happy to see you got the 2x's back...I may get a 3x! Peace!
And that phone chair is worth a lot more than you would think...
Brought back memories. We are showing our age. lol . My sister was pulling me around on a blanket, I fell sideways and smacked my front tooth on the leg of that sucker. Kindergarten photo that year I had a black tooth.
When he said no, nevermind...I started yelling at my monitor saying "no! don't leave that telephone table behind!" LOL Glad you changed your mind, Taco!
I was yelling along with you.
I think it's also called a gossip bench.
The chair combo is for phones and phone books.
Hey what's up taco! I don't know how far into scrapping u get but those microwaves also have copper bars inside them if u take them all apart.. be safe and have fun. Keep the videos coming.
yea but microwaves are really dangerous on the inside
another good finds...that chair and table that are attached together are old my grandmother had one and she would use it to set her telephone on the table part and sit and talk on the phone :)
I believe the ratchet was from Montgomery Wards
OMG. ...I would love to have that little conversation table that you found. That was a great find!!!!
Watching your channel during quarantine. It's amazing what people put out there. In Nevada they just don't do that. Good luck on your finds. Lucky guy
New to your channel. I'm really enjoying it! It's a side of picking that I'm unfamiliar with. Glad to see someone doing scrapping, garbage picking videos!
You rock taco stacks. Keep living the dream!!!
I used to live in a really nice apartment complex. I couldn't tell you how many times I pulled things from the dumpsters and donated to thrift stores or gave to friends and family. Oh yeah, kept a few things as well.
I was so scared you were gonna leave that awesome phone table behind!
Susan K. Me too!! Lol
I've been looking for the telephone table forever. And free in the trash. And in good shape. Wow!
Me too.
that is a super cute gossip bench. It's made to hold a telephone book in the cubbie and the phone on top. Obviously from back in the day when people would make calls from their landlines.
I swear I get so hyped now every time I see people throwing stuff out thanks to this channel 😂
We call them Gossip Chairs/Bench Yakkity Yak : ) Look'm up on ebay, your's worth 75 but could quick flip for 30/40 easy at swap. Good pick'n day with the Roll around trailer jack too!
Hi thank you for sharing I truly enjoyed the video🤗
Yes, the handled metal piece is to adjust your camper once at the campsite. Once trailer is off the vehicle, you can fine tune the parking and find a good level area to camp.
Great finds some of those items good enough to fix up and sell like the wood furniture.
The chair is a telephone chair! You would put your phone on top of the drawer and your phone books went in the cubby! I would make a killing if I live where you live brother.. haha
Yep. My grandmother had one of those chairs with a rotary phone sitting on it
Boy you are getting a beating about the telephone table! Lol! I was out shopping the other day and saw some Pyrex and thought of you!
Tools for the van!!! Great finds.
That chair table combo is a antique phone table. Looks 50s
I love the "do ta doo doo doo". You're such a happy man!
At 13:20 it is an antique telephone table. Phone goes on table phone book on shelf and you have a place to sit down when you were having an extended conversation.
That table chAir combo is beautiful
wow nice world! and i've been hunting for one like that - whoa gossip bench chair with built on table
That's a telephone table, probably 40s or 50s.
Well, by now you know that odd looking chair is a phone bench. I could sell that for about $125 in my antiques booth. It always stuns me that you can't sell the furniture you find (like the fabulous chairs and table). It would probably pay for me to drive there from Florida, rent a U-Haul and bring back the furniture you leave behind. Thanks for sharing, Taco.
The microwave glass trays are great under plants, they protect the shelf but let light through, happy hunting!
Omgosh! I would love those chairs! 😍
Thanks for the video..Be safe!
Oh I did not know that other than picking good stuff ..you do magic tricks, lol you went from a jeep in to your regular van in a split second. That was a good one.
The table was Duncan Phyfe, and the chairs were matching lyre back chairs. I woulda’ bought ‘em.
The chair-deck combo is really an old telephone table.
We are checking out the t-shirts for sure
What u called a chair combo is actually from at least back in the 50-60's as a telephone chair. The side table attachment is where the phone usually would be. 😊
That chair combo is a phone desk. They use to put their land line phones on those way back when.
That was an old phone desk. This is so fun to watch. I miss doing stuff like this.
The chair table is an Art Deco phone stand. Really good shape, hope it gets a home!
Lucky! You got some good speakers!
It is called a gossip bench. The telephone goes on the table and you sit and gossip. Lol
That gossip bench is very pretty! Nice piece!
I agree with you on the press board and have agreed with you every single time, but I loved that desk. Desk come with no drawers lately... I would of given you a lot.😥
That table and chair thing is an old telephone table. I would LOVE to have it!
True dedication. Picking in the snow. Brrrrr!
This is not just garbage picking it's shopping, I did that found some great stuff 👍😍🤩You're subscribed
Taco.. I loved the telephone chair/table. Very cool old find.. PJ x
At about 9:10, that is called a 'telephone chair'. They used them with landlines to set the phone on, and store the phone book. Even before phones could be installed in any room in the house :)
Taco, there's an old saying ( You got to strike while the irons hot) if you don't grab it when you first see it someone else will!
I ENVY this dude 😂😂😂😂 would love to come for a ride 😂😂
It’s called a gossip chair! Great find!
Great finds. I like any content you put together.
Those telephone chairs are desirable antiques
It's antique phone table and chair,I grew up with one, from the 50's.
Beautiful👍😊great job..
It's cold in Queensland Australia churches too and watching you in the snow, Brrr.
Glad you pickt up the telephone table with chair . I was like. Yes. Take it...
Its called a telephone table and the drop leaf table is also a good seller as well
I love that chair that you just said no and then you grabbed I want that chair
My sister lives in a PA. neighborhood like some of those you visit, and the reason they don't donate is TIME. Between work and driving kids to activities, they have little or no time left to be driving to donation centers, so just put it out for the garbage man. Easier.
Love the telephone table chair
Love trash picking day, never know what you're gonna find
That's why bring truck. Also also invest automatically wire stripers so does that TV wire. Its it pay 100 fold
Couldn't believe someone threw out all those screwdrivers, pliers, etc. So true that garbage for someone is a treasure for others. Big wake up call for me on the microwave. I thew out one that was a piece of crap but could have sold the rotating tray if I'd known they were worth something.
We never have people leave stuff like that on curb. I wish there were storage auctions close by.
Like your videos so I finally subbed.
Question: How old is Salsa?
I’m glad we don’t really get snow hear in Australia I could see myself slipping over
Great commitment in inclement weather.
At 9:15 that chair combo is really called a telephone desk,
I think you may be interested in my home town if Marietta Ohio. One spring day a year, everyone puts out their usable items they no longer want. It was one of the high points in my mother's year. If it's metal scraps only, it might not interest you
Loved the antique quarter sawn oak round table with the claw foot pedestal ! I follow The Bargain Barons....cheers!
have you got a carpenter to call about great wood, like that table base.
Taco I love you videos Man I can't wait to get me a small truck or van so I could do the same and make me some money too I have a small little Honda Civic right now but that's got to change cuz I need to do some scrapping and garbage picking like you thanks for the inspiration I appreciate it
I love your sign-off! Peace!!
