In Australia where I live we have a once a year bulk rubbish collection on our verge. Usually 2 suburbs at a time for 2 weeks in our shire but others do it too. I used to really enjoy going out collecting stuff. My kids banned me though because I'm a recovering hoarder. Ha ha ha! One man's trash is another man's treasure! I LOVE that it doesn't all go to landfill. Better for our planet!

I like how folks in your town put out stuff for others to pick up for free. In my town, folks are so poor, I rarely see anything worth bringing home.

I was so excited when you found the brake parts. I've worked in the shop with my dad for years and I know how heavy they are, great for scrap yard money!! Big win.

Such great finds! Yes, that wooden/metal park bench can be tightened up, I have 2 of those by my front outside entry way. You didn't take the piggy bank and the fisher price vintage toy - that fisher price toy is very expensive on ebay! I am really glad you took the 2 boxes full of stuff - I hope you make a lot of money!

those glass lamps are cool..you can fill them with stuff like gum balls or marbles matchbox cars,,anything you want,,or big chunks of colored glass mixed with a string of white xmas tree lights to light up the inside

i would change the contents for each holiday or season, or put some sand in the bottom and put some live hermit crabs or Tarantulas
My fav would be marbles and the clear Christmas tree lights. Very colorful.

It would be fun to follow you for a day or so at the flea market and recycling center, to see what happens to the stuff you pick up.
Be careful when lifting heavy items it's not worth getting a hernia . Wish I were there with you I love looking for treasures . I volunteer at my local recycle center three times a week love the goodies.
I use to have a glass lamp like that I filled the glass base of it with sea shells :D I sold it later on in a yard sale for 25.00
That accordion wooden knob thing sells for very good money on eBay, check it out.
You are sure are lucky to able to set household items along the road. That is not allowed in the city I reside. I would be picking everyday! I will pick vicariously through you!

Those chairs can easily be reupholstered to match the decor of the area that the will be used in. If a chair is sturdy if you wiggle on it, buy it. That is my theory. They can always be paited and everyone uses accent chairs in foyers, ect..
I've never seen neighborhoods like the ones you visit. Occasionally, I see a house or two with unwanted furniture or something else substantial for the garbage truck to haul away or with a "free" sign, but never house after house.

Would like to see a follow-up on the chairs....how they look cleaned up. Did the brass bed from the storage locker awhile back, turn out to be a real brass bed?
It's crazy to me how everyone just lays all of their items out?!? Almost like they are expecting you😂😂. Where I'm from, all garbage is in a large trash container. Truck goes by with an arm that extends out and dumps the trash...no one even gets out of the truck unless you've got more items than you can fit....so crazy!

Noticed (finally) the methodology to deal with irate homeowners. Keep it running, lock the side access, grab the most wanted FIRST, all to allow quick exit with at least SOMETHING worth the efforts! How do you deal with aggressive homeowners? I assume if they don't charge you try the "recycling for the environment" to bring them to a pause.
The chairs ARE cool; just whip out a Magic Eraser on them!
Maybe you should nail that rack to the inside back behind your seats. That way you could put small good pieces there instead of taking a chance with them under the heavy stuff ? Looks like it would fit just right 👌

Oh picking is so much fun.... Had a garage sale recently and made almost $100 off the stuff I picked, not bad. Whats the weirdest thing you found? For me its a box playboy anyone want em ha ha.....
Depending on how old those playboy mags are they can be worth some decent money.
