Update: I realize during my demo I was showing how bad my door knob lock was. Not sure why I did that during the time of filming. Both the deadbolt and doorknob had the same issue in the cold so SwitchBot Smart Lock fixed it and I just stopped using the door knob lock as my dead bolt was sufficient.
I would love to see a feature added to the fingerprint keypad, so that if it will recognize a valid fingerprint, it can trigger a custom action like sending a command to a Switchbot bot to press a button or trigger an alexa routine, send http request etc. This would be so useful for a lot of cool smart home projects where I can trigger routines just with a fingerprint 🙂
Good case scenario. Doesn’t you lock the phone with passcode/fringer print/face ID? Unless you use a brick phone which obviously not compatible for smart-bot
@@kana_fayrin3275 yes you can if you set up your phone with those figures . Some people can’t remember codes and don’t us the figures I don’t us the face or finger. I have a iPhone .all phones are not the same . I agree you can us those figures..
Does the Lock have an Auto Unlock feature? Like it'll open the lock when it detects your phone nearby? Sesame Smart Lock has this feature and while handy, it can be somewhat unreliable.
So far auto unlock is not possible. You need one of the many options with NFC, Keypad, Smartphone or Watch. So far no detection if you are approaching the door...
I was interested in this product until I saw this video. You do realize in the video you were trying to stick your key in the door knob lock, not the deadbolt attached to the switch bot device.
If anyone is interested, I made an extension for the Switchbot Lock. It lets you use it on locks that have a recessed knob that the normal part can't reach. Made a video about it and added links to the 3D model files if you want to make one too: ruclips.net/video/dwaqqWMg-p8/видео.html

I guess by reading this, this isnt possible?
@@Hollandsegehaktbal unfortunately not. Got it confirmed by another RUclipsr
The "sensor" to know if the door is open, has motion sense as the "switchbot door sensor" has?
does the lock send a notification to the phone app if the door is being opened when you are away? Thanks
Yes of course
What if I have a standard lock which can be only opened using a key on both sides of the door? Can this product be used with a key?
If the lock is able to put in a key from both sides this is possible. So you can even open the door manually if the electronics failed.
They legit need to add home key compatibility and this will be a killer option.
I'll need to lookup what is home key!
Does it work on mortise lock
If the lock has a thumb turn to lock/unlock then yeah, it should work assuming you have a good place to mount the SwitchBot lock.
? What if someone stole your phone follow you home. walk up.to your door will the door unlock t? or do you have to place the phone to.the pad ?
Good case scenario.

Yes!

If your phone is unprotected without any locking - then of cause anybody could unlock the door... Same if someone just steal your keys...

yes i did mentioned it!
@@JSyntax Did you? I saw you mentioned auto lock, and nfc unlock, but not Auto Unlock. Where in the vid did you mention it?

Both key holes had the same issue. I just used the deadbolt and not even bother with the knob lock
