As per 24/10/24 (that's dd/mm/yy for you Americans) the new SKF Driveshaft has started making the same noise, I might have to throw in the towel and buy a super expensive Volvo original driveshaft.

Already? Thats to bad. I have the same noise on my V70N 2005. But i think i going to buy my driveshaft on bildelsbasen in sweden. Keep up the good work!

@rikardo1581 yeah, I have since figured out that GKN makes the Volvo original drivshafts, so I will be buying one from them soon.

I would recommend the driveshaft spacers from ALG (UK based company so shipping might be costly), which anecdotally help with the longevity of the driveshafts on lowered C30s.

@calj2405 on my previous driveshaft I used those exact drivshaft spacers, and it didn't seem to make any difference to durability. They might be good for longevity if you have a higher quality drivshaft, but definitely not a universal solution.

So glad you were able to fix the problem. You could tell the relief on your face once it got fixed. Know this feeling all to well when you were able to fix something and avoiding the worst outcome :)

Haha, yeah, I was more than a little worried that it would be the differential 😅, diagnosing based on noises isn't always the most accurate, so I was really glad to have interpreted it correctly.

I’m having the exact same noise and think it’s the same thing. I replaced my right hand side cv joint two weeks ago and inner and outer tie rods on both sides and it’s still making the noise so I’m assuming it’s the left side cv joint which just came in the mail after waiting over a month… crossing my fingers that it’s just the cv joint!

I just replaced my torque mount. I added a powerflex insert black, engine mount with yellow powerflex insert, waiting for the transmission mount, I have the powerflex insert for that as well. Should feel more direct with the M66. congrats on the drive shaft install!

An uprated torque mount is on the list after I saw how weak the OEM one was 😃 happy modifying!

Having a similar sound in a v50 i got a few weeks ago. Hopefully I have the same issue you do

The noise went away, but then it came back maybe a month later. I really thought the SKF shaft would be good quality, but it does seem to have become just as bad. The next time I have it in at Volvo, I'll ask them to diagnose the noise and see what they have to say.

Is it a D4 or a D5? Very nice to see one around. I have a D4 in my V50, which is very rare for V50, as well as C30 and S40. Perfect engine.

It's a D4 2.0 5cyl. Yeah, very rare, this one is actually one of only two C30 D4s in Norway! The engine is absolutely fabulous.
