In Mexico, there was or is a large vein of onyx 14+ feet in diameter that you can cut to any thickness table you want. Saw these at a Mexican trade fair in San Antonio in about 1976.

Not only a mask but eye gear too. I use to work with grinding and cutting teeth models and my boss was too lenient - he never enforced safety and health rules. I never knew I HAD to wear glasses to protect my eyes bc he never said!! They were there on the bench of course but he never ever once said anything about them till I got my eyes checked and they found corrosions on the surface. I told them what I did and voila! Found out that was the cause of My problems.

most of these types of shops are family run. they choose to not wear the safety gear. no matter how you tell them. my father is somewhat like them, he was a truck driver in the gulf, the heat, sun and dust spoiled his eyes, he was not ready to wear just a pair of sunglasses. he still remains the same type of person.
