  • In this video, we stay a weekend in Linville Falls, North Carolina, where we journey to the hiker's paradise, Linville Gorge. We hike two trails, Linville Falls within the Gorge, and to the top of the Gorge at Hawksbill Mountain where we see two F16 fighter jets! On the way to and from Linville, we stopped at Ashville, North Carolina, and a neat farmers market in North Georgia.

The Linville Gorge Wilderness ("The Grand Canyon of North Carolina") is the third largest wilderness area in North Carolina (after Shining Rock Wilderness and Joyce-Kilmer Slickrock Wilderness) and one of only two wilderness gorges in the Southern United States (along with Bald River Gorge Wilderness in Tennessee).[1] Maintained by the United States Forest Service, it comprises 11,786 acres (47.7 km2) around the Linville River, and is situated inside the Pisgah National Forest. The river is approximately 1,400 feet (400 m) below the ridge, thus hiking in and out of the Gorge is challenging and enjoyable for those who like serious hiking. The plant and animal community is extremely diverse, with a dense hardwood/pine forest and a wide variety of smaller trees and other plants as well as bear, fox, raccoon, trout, grouse, wild turkey, vultures, owls, hawks, copperheads, and timber rattlesnakes. Popular tourist attractions in or near the wilderness are[citation needed]:
Linville Falls, a waterfall fed by the river and free to the public.
Wiseman's View, a rock outcrop near the center of the gorge that gives an excellent view of the interior of the gorge.
Linville Caverns, a privately maintained cave attraction accessible by automobile from U.S. Route 221.

Love the back and forth with the camera and perspective. Y’all probably have some of the best hiking videos I’ve seen. This place is basically in my back yard and theres still so much of it I haven’t seen.

Just wanted to let you know that, thanks to your series on Linville Gorge, my wife and I and a few friends will be heading to Linville for a long weekend of exploration on the trails! Linville was never really on our list due to the distance to get there. But your videos made it obvious that we couldn't pass it up! Thanks for all of the great work you guys do bringing new inspiration to anyone wanting to experience the wonders of the Southeast.

So glad to hear that, I highly recommend the chimneys! The trail head is in the same parking lot as another great trail called table rock

Beautiful original Carolinian forest. I’m Canadian and the northern tip of this forest is in southern Ontario. This is a must see. Gorgeous 👍

The Gorge and surrounding mountains are used for low altitude flight training by the military.

This was fun to watch. It’s hard to beat Linville Gorge. I thought drones weren’t allowed in Linville Gorge. Is that true, or did you find a way to navigate around that?

But just FYI, Waffle House is NOT our crowned jewel... That's Cracker Barrel. 😊

Great video of one of the many beautiful places in our area but...
Many people get hurt every year hiking in this part of the county simply because of the wrong footwear...
Ashville is a drug and crime infested city... and finally, Waffle House is NOT the jewel of the south! It's the armpit of southern restaurants 🤢🤮
It's great to see young folks out enjoying the prime of their lives before the realization of their own mortality kicks in. Y'all come back now, ya hear?!? 👍

Asheville is awful these days. Tons of crime, drug addicts on the side of roads... Those of us who actually know Asheville would not recommend Ashville.

WOW! Guys thank you for such an amazing video journey!! I've been to Hawksbill 3 times. 1 time in the Summer, 1 time in winter and the first time was in the fall. This is the video that plays in my mind. You have brought it to life. Thank you! It's a video i am proud to share on my Facebook pages. ALSO… where can I get one of those shirts… “God is real… hiking is free”? I believe in both and would love to wear one. Hike on brothers!! 😁🥾⛰️
