After my Air 2 bit me I stopped hand catching. I forgot to turn the sensors off and as I was going up to grab it and came down sliced my finger pretty good. Buuut with those soft tips on the Air 3I may go back to it! Thanks Russ. Awesome job on all the Air 3 info 👌
I've got this drone, and it's a beast. I mostly hand-catch it too. Make sure to put it in sport mode before hand-catching it. Otherwise, the sensors won't let it land.

What I’d like to see is how you’d hand catch while standing on a moving boat with rigging around you? Hand catching as you’re demonstrating here is easy pretty much with any drone.
Catching it in that scenario is easy. Fast, smooth hand movement to grab from the bottom before sensors react, immediately flip it on to its back. This instantly kills the motors, and you're on your way.
Ive only flown mine a few times and will retry this lol. Im over here jumping up and down tryin to catch the damn thing... jk.. Couldn't one engage return to home and then press pause at a low enough height to grab it? I was short on time when I got a flight in and cant remember if the sensors work when paused is pressed...
Don’t you want to be in Sport Mode to hand catch the Air 3 to prevent the downward obstacle acoidance sensors from preventing it from landing in your hand in Normal and or Cine Mode????
Why do people post a clip without explaining the steps on the remote first to catching the Dji Air 3?, You didn't mention to the people you need to put it into Sports mode to disengage the sensors before pulling down the left stick
I was stupid and tried a hand catch in the wind. Got a few scratches and sore finger. The drone was able to stay up for a second in order for that prop to go on again so it did not crash.
Yep same thing with a Mavic 3 Pro.. I do not land drones.. Had one flip not letting that happen again . Do you know if the Insta360 360 camera rig fits this drone ?
I like to face it towards me. You can see when it decides to land because the gimbal will center itself. Helps a lot when it is windy and the drone is bobbing around.

Been flying drones before most people even knew what they were. And I can tell yer - Hand catching is for idiots. A sudden gust of wind, a misjudged catch, a technical issue - you’re blinded. There is a lot that could go wrong. Ignore those who say it’s safe.
Since you're so experienced you could take some caution in mind and adjust your action accordingly instead of avoiding it completely. Thats like you stop using furniture coz you hit your toe once

The air 2s was legit scary. Had a few relatively deep cuts on my neck and shoulders even though i had a shirt on.

They do if you hold it there long enough. Takes about 4 seconds of holding your hand still.

can we just appreciate that the omni directional obstacle sensing immediately sensed the hand
The 300 dollar mini 2 se has downward sensors, it works the same way it has nothing to do with omnidirectional

Easy, take the rigging down on one side. I use burnewiin mounts it takes me just a second to release them.

This is exactly how the air 2 and spark hand catch. Except the spark didnt run away when you reach.. so technically it's the easiest.
Looks like it has to be in sport mode to hand catch or the obstacle avoidance won’t let you.
