As a hybrid wedding photographer I have my Mini 2 as my daily driver and sometimes use my friend's mini 4 pro. Never pulled the trigger for it, since there are no significant advantages for my business compared to the mini2. But hands down the Air 3 was nothing short of a game changer for my videos. The tele lens (those parallax effects are from another world!), the sturdy build quality and the amazing wind stability make it far superior to the mini series.
Peter your comparison was excellent. I had a 2s and only 2 days ago I flew it off the yacht near Samos island (Greek island near Turkey) whilst sailing and my worst nightmare happened. Yep the drone took off then hit one of the mast stays and dived into the water , then proceeded to sink fast. Depth 150m deep. Gone. So now when I get back home (Australia) it’s time to get a new drone. The Mini 4 pro seems to be the one. My first drone was a Mavic Air which was small and great but range was crap. The 2s was too big to carry around for surfing shots also Active tracking was hit and miss. So now it’s the Mini 4 pro after you convinced me it’s the go to drone. Great Video and I have subscribed. Will take up your course as well. You are bloody good at presenting. Thank you
This is a real review of how a drone suppose to be. Real running and not on a bicycle seeing how the drone follows and use obstacle avoidance. Good Post
DJI AIR 3 for me, the Dual lenses and the range wins it. Once the MAVIC 4 pro comes out ill get that, the range the MAVIC 3 Pro is lacking right now, Upgrade the range and ill buy. MINI 4 is awesome though for what it is.
I have the Air 3 when I can fly unrestricted, the flight time is awesome, much more stable than mini drones, and the 2 lenses allows more options on the fly when you’re up there. I also have the Autel Nano + if I want to pack light. Nothing wrong with options.
yeah, but air3 can be used in reconnainssance better to spot enemy tank formations and artillary adjustments and could carry bigger payload than mini... just an other thing to consider when living with 1300km border ruzzia
i just bought the mini 4 pro yesterday, had my first flight today, thanks for the help in deciding, i think the major factor for not going with air 3 was the weight issues with needing certs!
@@andreasn.9970 great vid thanks! I ordered the mini 4 but put it on hold as the new restrictions of 150m flight height coming in next year for the mini series seems a shame, its my first drone and im now thinking the air 3 might be the one as I do like the extra creativity of the 70mm lens. I am in Ireland and it seems you need the license for the mini anyway as it has a camera? is it the same license for both the mini and the air? Thanks in advance
Great color edits in this and shots. Thank you for testing it and editing it for use/look in real edited test. As long as I can edit it and make it look decent compared to my black magic camera, I’m fine haha
I'm still trying to decide between these two. I had many DJI drones (Phantom 4, Mavic 2 Zoom, Avata, and Mini 3 Pro), but from all the drones I've had I used the Mini 3 Pro the most and that's the drone I love the most and mainly because of the size. I think, the most important factor when choosing a drone is how comfortable you're going to be with it. Because you can have amazing specs on paper, but if you're going to feel that it's too heavy or too big to take it with you on a hike, or it's too loud and draws too much attention, then you'll end up not using it as much. My Mini 3 Pro fits even the smallest backpack I have and I can find room for it even if I have other stuff to carry. I can get it started in a minute even with calibration and the footage (even in low light), fits most of my needs (and I even shoot stuff that goes to TV). I would love to have a 3x lens or a 5x but I have a feeling that simply because of the size, I would rarely take a drone like the Air 3 with me, let alone anything bigger, and even if I did, I would still use it less because of drone laws and the fact that it draws more attention. With the Mini 3, I sometimes flew only a few meters away from people when they noticed the drone, and even if I never ended up using the drone at a location, it didn't bother me to carry it because I honestly barely noticed it was with me. Anyhow, maybe that's just me, but I think putting this all down, I just convinced myself to upgrade to the 4 pro instead of the Air 3 😄
@@haunter90, the Mini 4 Pro handles the wind quite good, but because it’s very light not as good as the heavier and more powerfull Mavic 3 Series. Great Video. I have 3 questions: 1. What camera setup are you using for filming. 2. What are FAA regulations we need to know before buying one. 3. Mini4 pro or should wait for mini 5 pro in September. Also how is avata 2?
I currently always carry my Air 2S and Mini 3 PRO with me, for the same reason as you carry your Air 3 & Mini 4. It's time for an upgrade, probably to the A3 first.
@@NiklasKrog in my opinion you may keep your setup as it is and wait for the next gen. The only huge improvements will be flight time and 3x but photos form Air3 are slightly worse than Air2s in good light conditions.

Maybe I should check gow the Mini 4 Pro is doing for photography. The Mavic 3 Pro is like on the limit of my budget, its also possible as well. But the price in my country for the Mavic 3 Pro (Fly more kit) is literaly like x2 Air 3 (Fly more kit) drones... and i'm not really thinking that the image quality is 2 times better, like the price difference..
You're using 3x lens of Air3 on a low light. It only has an aperture of 2.8 vs mini 3's 1.7 aperture. It would truly be to dark. You should have used the Air3's 24mm lens.
I replaced my Mavic AIR with the AIR 3. The reason for this is with the higher winds at my home this drone flies very smoothly, and weight can be good. My AIR was at the edge with stability and reacted in a very nervous way managing the wind. I live on a hill in Switzerland and we have a slot where we have stronger winds due to the topography. I basically just fly around my field, bringing any drone anywhere is a bit of a hassle. For the price the AIR 3 is amazing.
I own a mini and an air 3. I almost never fly the mini. I love how stable the air 3 is in wind. The 3x lens creates very cinematic landscape work and allows me to work farther from wildlife. I dontind the size at all. For context I also shoot on a Mavic Cine but still the Air 3 is my go to drone. If producing vertical content in low res for Instagram is what you do, then maybe the mini is a good fit, just not for me
Nothing can beat the natural portrait mode of the mini 4. But tolerating high winds in beach setting, tele lense for parallax, 2 lenses on the air 3 to avoid constant lense filter swapping on the ground, especially when zooming in on objects that need distance like a Ferris Wheel. Im planning to buy my first drone, im not pro content creator but on my case a budget meal is the first thing, so i hope next year will change the price for that.
Thanks for this comparison 👍👍 the mini 4 is a beast 😱😱 do you think it will be better upgrading my mini 2 for a Air2 S or a air 3 ? I need a drone strong in the winds of Corsica but image quality is very important for me . ( I make photos and videos )
I’ve heard the Mini 4 pro struggles in any kind of wind where the Air 3 handles the wind much better. For content creation the mini 4 wins. For client work I think the Air 3 will be better.
I’ve flown in heavy winds with both, and the Air 3 is rock solid. The mini4 is still handling the wind like a champ though, main issue is when flying to the sides
@@PeterLindgren1 I’m looking at getting my first professional drone now. As a video production company I’m leaning to the Mavic Air 3. That medium telephoto is so nice. I started out learning on an Amazon toy drone.
Air 3 over mini any day the 3x is a game changer for search operations and the wind resistance is great. I had a mini 2 then mini 3 pro then an air 3 and i will never go mini again unless i am being restricted to fly my drone. Air 3 is faster and smoother to fly.
Not only the ambience light is to low, your surroundings says a lot to that carpark has a part to play also,it has a lot of metal and iron all around in the concrete which messes up the GPS system real bad.
@@PeterLindgren1 could it have been a fluke if you only tested each drone once? Maybe 4/5 time Air would have been good and 1/5 time M4Pro would have been good?
These are essentially the same drone minus a 70mm and a lighter Mini4. Bought the air 3 already and it is now my daily flyer. Mini 4 will be the backup along with the old Air2s. Gotta have the weight for the wind. The mini is perfect for travel and interior real estate, That isn't Air3 Territory. Can't go wrong with either. The new RC2 is so much better than the RC I used with the Mavic 2 Pro. Occusync 4 rocks.
I'd use the Air3. The mini is great, but in situations where discretion is not a factor, I'll go with the larger drone with more flight time and 2 cameras. The 70mm is a true game changer.@@TheMobilemak
Got the mini 4, its my first dji drone but damn am i happy with it. I take it with me to work every day on the farm just because its so small and easy to do. Really impressed with the quality, and have found quite a few opportunities to use it not just to take great shots but also to make work easier by inspecting things from the sky. I fly mode 3 as thats what im used to from gaming and flying rc helis and its that easy with yhis drone that i fly with 1 hand while operating machinery with the other.
Hi bro greetings from Accra Ghana west Africa I just came across your channel for which I want to know about DJI mini 4 pro drone before buying. You've proved me very right. I'm still continuing watching the rest of your your videos. Anyway my drone is on the way coming. Stay blessed and safe all the time Amen 🙏🙏. Welbeck here from Accra Ghana west Africa.
I had to pick recently and I picked the mini 4 over air 3 1. price compare both combos the air 3 is $420 more 2. Mini 4 has better obstacle avoidance with height control and the wheel 3. Size 4. Can use mini 3 batteries 4. Vertical pics 5.noise and saturation control . Outside of extra camera which is nice, speed 1 min battery life the air is no better. Most who pick the air 3 own it already and are justifying their purchase
In Europe the mini 4 is going to have a hard limit to 120mt; do for me who are trying to enter the drone hobby it's basically unusable because I will use it only in the peaks of mountain. That's why I'm thinking of getting an air 3
Never say 1x Zoom again 😂 On a happy note, my biggest issue with Mini 3 pro was poor positional accuracy. It could not return to a start point on autonomous flight modes like Quickshots or Mastershots. I am happy to report that we HAVE improved positional accuracy. We even got Precision Landing, and it works really well. I checked the specs, and sure enough, we have one stepped-up parameter, namely Hovering Accuracy Horizontal Hovering accuracy is down to ±0.1 m (with vision positioning) From Mini 3 Pro's ±0.3 m (with vision positioning) This is WHY or BECAUSE of Precision Landing - I'm not sure which, its strictly chicken and egg stuff. 🤔
Yup mini4 is confident winner, however the air3 is much faster (alsmost 2 times), this is where Im still deciding which one to choose for shooting skiing. My idea is to use waypoints (as activetrack for skiing is crap), create a route on my ski line and hope its goona be faster enought to keep up with me (its also about veritcal speed)
The Air feels much stronger , just put your hands on it after touching the mini 4. It boots up and pairs, faster and flies so much better. I bought the mini 4 for a trial period and returned it for Air 3. 100% worth the extra $400
But I want to remind, Mavic 3 PRO on 70mm lens has a same size frame 1/1.3 inch and cost is a more than 1000 USD more. So the comparing cost to effect - the Air 3 is a best solution.
@@Maruman_man The Mavic 3 pro has a 24 mm Haselblad camera. On 70 mm is completly the same camera as in Air 3. And Air 3 also has a stack sensor. So I don't see a diffrent between those two drones, except price.....( of course we talking about 70mm lens)
If you own the M3P then the Air3 is the one way if you want to upgrade, in terms of camera wind resistance active track. The thing that you forgot to mention is the 120m height limit of the mini4pro starting on the 1/1/24….!!! Except if you already own like me, the M3P….. If you’re not update the firmware, you can still flight up to 500m…..!!! All this said although a really valuable upgrade been up….!!! Just a thought if you own a M3P maybe doesn’t worth to upgrade to M4P but to Air 3 instead…!!! For me owning the M3P I’ll definitely go for the Air 3…!!!!😉😉😉
ah, 3x zoom hade ju varit riktigt grymt!
I’m still just learning Swedish)
@@JoraulStreams yeah correct, with a 3x on a mini 4 would be amazing, and as you say, I also dont think its going to come, it would probably weigh over 249g if so. BUT we can always hope/dream for one 😄
Not sure the garage test was entirely fair. The Mini 4 Pro seemed to be a lot closer to the subject + the Air 3 was in zoom mode so it had a higher F stop.
Mavic 3 Pro in 3X and 7X modes. Camera gimbal do a weird shakes. So you have to deal with that unless you wait for next gen. Air 3 it's a better budget solution and Mini 3/4 Pro it's a better backup drone. But man you don't even try fly mini 4 with a little wind. Air 3 it's waaay better as main machine.
Yeah, Mavic 3 is still the king of picture quality. And even the standard out of the box filming whiteout color grading actually looks pretty damn pretty, probably because of the true color HasselBlad you get. Love my Mavic 3, wouldn't change it for the Mini or the Air 3. And as an icing on the cake, you get adjustable apature on the Mavic and that's exclusive on that alone.

Excellent review Peter, top quality as expected hehe 👌 Always a pleasure to watch your videos, if I want something light and capable my Mini 3 Pro is always with me, just like in my holidays in Greece I had my mini, I did miss my Mavic 3 sometimes. But the Mini series is one of the best things DJi has created.
First thought in parking garage was "that looks a bit dark for tracking" - then again, I thought the same in the woods tracking, 🪵 so obviously I cant tell day from night. Mini 4 Pro had a brighter exposure set, perhaps that influenced its better performance in that environment. As for me, I love the Mini 4 Pro, but immediately go looking for the 3x/70mm equivalent lens. But, since i hate having to choose, i have both of these. And Mavic 3 Pro. Not showing off, in fact, I'm an idiot - do not buy all 3. If I had to choose, a dessert island drone - Air 3. Definitely is my happy place. Not sure how I'd charge batteries on the island tho - its a fantasy dammit.
As far as i know, the exposure doesn’t affect the sensors. But I have had the same issue several more times where it have a hard time recognising the ground.
Bravo great video! Thank you for all the information in this video! I thought I was watching a James Bond movie after awhile because you were in SO MANY different locations in this one video and all for a couple of drones! That is why you are THAT GUY! 😉
Good video, again, Peter! I would actually buy the mini 4 pro before the air 3. Thats because of the size, and I didnt like the air 3 when it hit the floor because it shuts of the sensors when the light is low. But, as I said earlier, I’ll stick with my mini 3 pro for now👊

Thanks for this comparison 👍👍 the mini 4 is a beast 😱😱 do you think it will be better upgrading my mini 2 for a Air2 S or a air 3 ? I need a drone strong in the winds of Corsica but image quality is very important for me . ( I make photos and videos )
What is hanging in the garage? With the green lights. Are those chargers for cars?
I have a mini 3 pro (except Air3) and I think is not a necessary for changing on mini 4 pro :)
Pick a drone that is best for you, your use case, and also doesn't restrict your flying.
best unboxing I've ever seen... 🙂
Amazing Toyota Rav4 build rig! What tyres are you running on? AT? Snow? Do you have a lift kit?
Thank you! Check my latest video!
God they are so blessed to live such a beautiful country like that wow...
Mini 4 worked like a charm
@@PeterLindgren1 could it have been a fluke if you only tested each drone once? Maybe 4/5 time Air would have been good and 1/5 time M4Pro would have been good?
Exciting times! Great upgrades on the car. Drive safe Peter 💪🏻 great seeing progress on the new home :)
Yes bigger ist better ! 😊
Occusync 4 rocks.
going to hawai and will be recording stuff near the beach, which is better for island recording, air 3 or mini 4 pro
I'd use the Air3. The mini is great, but in situations where discretion is not a factor, I'll go with the larger drone with more flight time and 2 cameras. The 70mm is a true game changer.@@TheMobilemak
Great video. I couldn’t take it when you put the battery pack on the screen and moved it around. Weren’t you concerned about scratching the screen?
It gets scratched no matter what. As long as it doesn’t crack I’m good 🔥
Got the mini 4, its my first dji drone but damn am i happy with it.
I wonder if it's like a CNC, where if it overtravels you need to go out the route you came for safety reasons.
Very nice review again.
Question do I need a license to fly the Air 3 in Sweden? Is it the same licence for the MAVIC Pro? Tack 😜
They both look like great drones! But the mini 4 pro would be nice, because of the size 🤩
Definitely!
Yes,Yes i get it both drones are good but man That RAV4 looks so sick 💥 nice modifications 💪🏻
THANK YOU! Haha!
First comment on the car 🤓
Hi bro greetings from Accra Ghana west Africa I just came across your channel for which I want to know about DJI mini 4 pro drone before buying.
You've proved me very right.
I'm still continuing watching the rest of your your videos.
Anyway my drone is on the way coming.
Stay blessed and safe all the time Amen 🙏🙏.
Welbeck here from Accra Ghana west Africa.
Air 3333333! the middle ground
It's not true. There is an new update that gaves you the option to fly at 500 meters.
@@plairesfx but being a c0 it will be back at 120mt from the 1 January 2024
Have a mini 3 and bought an Air 3 a week ago. There is no need to justify the purchase.
I understand and i like the air 3 but I can't justify $420 more for camera I can buy a lot of stuff with that money
Never say 1x Zoom again 😂
On a happy note, my biggest issue with Mini 3 pro was poor positional accuracy. It could not return to a start point on autonomous flight modes like Quickshots or Mastershots.
I am happy to report that we HAVE improved positional accuracy. We even got Precision Landing, and it works really well. I checked the specs, and sure enough, we have one stepped-up parameter, namely Hovering Accuracy
Horizontal Hovering accuracy is down to
±0.1 m (with vision positioning)
From Mini 3 Pro's
±0.3 m (with vision positioning)
This is WHY or BECAUSE of Precision Landing - I'm not sure which, its strictly chicken and egg stuff. 🤔
1x zoom can be achieved by squinting your eyes
can the air 3 gimbal pan left and right without moving the drone?
Nope
If i had money to throw away, than of course the bigger for sure but on a budget so Mini 3/4
The video quality and editing are impressive and the video is very informative. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for sharing.
Yup mini4 is confident winner, however the air3 is much faster (alsmost 2 times), this is where Im still deciding which one to choose for shooting skiing. My idea is to use waypoints (as activetrack for skiing is crap), create a route on my ski line and hope its goona be faster enought to keep up with me (its also about veritcal speed)
i mean... the air 3 is better in literally every way except weight lol.
The Air feels much stronger , just put your hands on it after touching the mini 4. It boots up and pairs, faster and flies so much better. I bought the mini 4 for a trial period and returned it for Air 3. 100% worth the extra $400
Argh that combined edit tho 🔥🔥🔥
Göteborg! 🥳
But I want to remind, Mavic 3 PRO on 70mm lens has a same size frame 1/1.3 inch and cost is a more than 1000 USD more. So the comparing cost to effect - the Air 3 is a best solution.
The mavic 3 pro is a Hasselblad camera..hence the price difference. Also uses the stacked sensor concept
(Apologies for poor grammar, I’m still just learning Swedish)
@@JoraulStreams yeah correct, with a 3x on a mini 4 would be amazing, and as you say, I also dont think its going to come, it would probably weigh over 249g if so. BUT we can always hope/dream for one 😄
Great video man!👌🏼
Very happy with my mini 4 pro. I don’t have anything bad to say about it
wow, you are good. thanks
Awesome as always
What about de 120 meters of maximum height rule, for the minus 249 grams drones in the EU? Would that change your mind?
I almost never have any incitement to fly above 120M on a regular basis though.
I live in Portugal and my mini 4 pro permit me to fly over 120 mt. There is a new update. 500mts
They have wide angle for mini 4 pro, so why they don't make example 3X tele lens for it?
Love your wind test 😅
Nice Neistat intro ;-)
The only thing that would improve the car-shots would be a shallower DOF .. but you cant get that with these cameras.
Not sure the garage test was entirely fair. The Mini 4 Pro seemed to be a lot closer to the subject + the Air 3 was in zoom mode so it had a higher F stop.
going to hawai. which drone air3 or mini 4 pro that can handle the ocean wind.
Air 3
Love both drones.. Wish i have one😘🥰
Mavic 3 classic just for the pure image quality?
Depends on if you really need true D Log or not I guess
Yeah, Mavic 3 is still the king of picture quality. And even the standard out of the box filming whiteout color grading actually looks pretty damn pretty, probably because of the true color HasselBlad you get. Love my Mavic 3, wouldn't change it for the Mini or the Air 3. And as an icing on the cake, you get adjustable apature on the Mavic and that's exclusive on that alone.
mini 3 prodan geçiş yaparak mini 4 pro aldım harika herkeze tavsiye ederim
what is the title of the music
Excellent review Peter, top quality as expected hehe 👌
Always a pleasure to watch your videos, if I want something light and capable my Mini 3 Pro is always with me, just like in my holidays in Greece I had my mini, I did miss my Mavic 3 sometimes. But the Mini series is one of the best things DJi has created.
Really nice test video
Great comparison! Tack så mycket 'va! Love it how one can hear your Gothenburg (Gôteboska) accent even in your English! :-D
Like seeing you back on track 🤘🏻
Oh it’s a grind 🤙🏼
@@PeterLindgren1 Loving it, good to the point content 🔥
if air3 could rotate the gimball as m3/4 does and provide full sensor vertical 4k , it'd be the best drone ever produced.
freaking awesome intro.
Air3
casey Neistat copy in the beginning haha. well done.
Muy buenos los dos cada uno con ventajas.
I FEEL LIKE I could USE a zoom... decisions...
Good video, again, Peter!
I would actually buy the mini 4 pro before the air 3. Thats because of the size, and I didnt like the air 3 when it hit the floor because it shuts of the sensors when the light is low. But, as I said earlier, I’ll stick with my mini 3 pro for now👊
I have the mini pro 3 myself thinking of grabbing a swellpro for flying around waterfalls
