    Will GM be able to produce and sell this vehicle successfully ? So far, they have really been struggling on delivering EV's after the issues with LG batteries.
    The Mustang Mach E has sold 80 k units, and Tesla model Y still has red hot demand. So GM has a lot of work to do in this market segment.
    With that said, it looks like a promising product.

    • @Miata822
      @Miata822 2 года назад

      Many in the existing EV fan community misunderstand the capabilities of the large OEMs. They don't enter a market until they see a pathway to doing so profitably. Sure, they all made compliance cars when required to, but did so with the minimum effort and expense.
      GM wouldn't be introducing this car unless they had the supply chain already in place. For the last couple years they have been working on the Ultrium battery plant and EV manufacturing facility. Additional factories are being converted. Reconfiguring factories the car companies all do on a regular basis. Once GM settled on a platform, they will reuse it on as many vehicles as possible.
      GM's customer base has been waiting for this car, or one like it. They do know how to sell cars.

    I'm excited to see this car from GM. Why? Because it's 'normal'. This could pass for a new ICE model. It doesn't scream "Hey Look at Me! I'm SOOOO _Electric_ !!!"
    This car tells me GM thinks the mass market is ready to buy EVs by the millions. The specs can wait, but I'm glad to see Chevy rolling out from the start with model names and option packages that their customers know and can relate to. The Volt was a great car, held back by its name, GM not knowing how to promote it, and a form factor that screamed economy car.
    The Blazer's target market is every suburban garage. More than a few will likely park next to an electric Silverado eventually. Families tend to stick to one brand.

First of all you wouldn't fit much more than a small lunch box in the "frunk" of Ioniq 5.. and what about Tesla, Model Y and Model X... you know the company that started frunks in EVs, and that have actually sized them appropriately so they are useful.

    The only reason for the lack of a "Frunk" is that the EV components are still being pieced together to make this vehicle. Once they are better integrated, there will be plenty of room for a "Frunk". And people do use them.

      Why a fire hazard?
      With you on the tires.
      Charge port door won't be a problem, the handle of the cable alone sticks out farther than the door, plus the cable is pretty stiff. The real shame is the port placement; ports should be close to or on the ends of the car, otherwise you run into problems with short charger cables pretty quickly.

      Tesla is not the only company that produce EVs featuring frunk. All Lucid vehicles feature a frunk. And much bigger than Tesla's too. The Rivan R1T and Ford F150 Lightning also feature larger frunk than the ones on Tesla vehicles. The Porsche Taycan and Audi eTron GT sedan also have frunk. I'm just saying I dislike EVS that do not feature a frunk. Because, part of the reason why I'm interested in EVs is more space. I like to know that I have space both up front and to the rear. Even Chevy managed to fit a frunk in its C8 Corvette, in addition to the cargo compartment in the rear. Yes, I understand that mid engine cars generally feature a frunk as their only storage compartment. But I love it when companies go above and beyond to offer more...like Chevy did with the C8 Corvette. And even though people who buy sportcars don't expect much in the way of cargo space, they can certainly appreciate what Chevy did with the C8 Corvette. The Mercedes Benz EQS SUV is one of my favorite EVs. I didn't like the design of sedan. But I think it looks so much better in SUV form. And they interior is absolutely gorgeous. But I find it disappointing that it does not feature a frunk.

      @@andrewcairo6299 I'd almost guarantee that you don't drive an EV yet, based on that comment. • @Zamugustar
      @Zamugustar 2 года назад +1

      220-275 is plenty for even a long road trip IF it has a fast enough charging system. If this can do 10%-80% in around 15 minutes like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ionic 5 then 250 is just fine. The problem with the mustang is it charges too slow and has under 250 mile range.

    Well, a RWD Blazer model (I assumed GM would save this for Cadillac and the pickups EV models), offering the Blazer EV as a FWD, RWD, and AWD models and 3-different battery pack sizes, clearly, Chevy / GM are betting big on EVs, so, GM has 3-different EV motors (a powerful 255 kW EV motor for FWD, RWD or AWD positions, a 180-kW EV motor for FWD position, and a 62-kW EV motor for FWD/RWD/AWD assist motor, knowing the available EV motors, note, the GMC HUMMER EV pickup launch edition uses three 255 kW EV motors, 1-front and 2-at the rear, anyway), the Blazer SS EV is offered as an AWD model only guessing it offers a 180-kW EV motor for FWD position and a powerful 255 kW EV motor for a rear position, thus giving you that AWD capacity or basically the Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD model setup, now the base FWD only 1LT (guessing that’s a 180-kW EV motor for FWD position motor), the LT2 (guessing the same as the 1LT FWD, but the AWD version will most likely get a 180-kW EV motor for FWD position motor and a 62-kW EV motor for RWD assist motor for AWD), next the RS trim FWD (guessing that’s a powerful 255 kW EV FWD position motor), RS trim RWD (same as RWD Cadillac Lyriq a powerful 255 kW EV RWD position motor), the RS AWD trim is the interesting one (Chevy has several options, but I’m guessing a 62-kW EV motor for FWD assist motor and a powerful 255 kW EV RWD position motor for AWD or maybe some other combination, it feels like the the RS AWD will be the model to get if you don’t need or want the SS) and of course, the SS, which I already talked about, side note, did anyone notice Chevy / GM showed all available trims of the Blazer EV outside of maybe a ZL1 version, but to date the Cadillac Lyriq has only shown the Luxury trim RWD and AWD versions, could this be because Cadillac / GM want the halo/flagship upcoming Cadillac Celestiq to be shown first with these features and tech, I’m starting to think the Celestiq could be the first four-motor EV from GM, I was assuming it would be the Corvette EV, clearly they want Celestiq features/tech to trickle down to other Cadillac EV models, but the price you are hearing means it will have to come with the goods
