    Great job!! I am amazed that the steam iron melts the seam tape and doesn't make the carpet too damp for it to adhere

      I was taught to always do small patches with a seam iron and a wet towel and it always seemed to work.
      (no pun intended)
      This little tool eliminates a lot of those steps and does a great job.
      I have tried it on lots of different carpet and only on poor quality carpet like Mohawk
      Will it delaminate the carpet from the backing (sometimes).
      Overall I am so very happy with this method!

      That black machine is a discontinued black and decker wallpaper remover steam iron.
      They are getting harder to find on ebay so I recommend this one instead -

      Or you can always use a home clothes steam iron with white terry towels like in this video -

      How did it go? My two big ole Rex Rabbits (free roaming) chewed all the corners of one room before they were "trained" not to do so. I rent so I am trying to make it look like it never happened...lol. Curious to see someone else with a similar problem.

    Nice ty!! Hey but the pad got destroyed too. So replace? What is that machine, a heat source?

      Yes it's a steam iron that heats up the seaming tape glue under the carpet. If the pad was damaged more I would have replaced that section.

    Do you 100% need the adhesive tape??

      It really depends how large the area is, you could just glue it to the padding without the tape but the correct way would be to use the seaming tape.

      @@billierikishi8741 honestly a hot glue gun and you will be fine. Just make sure to cut the patch exactly how you want it and then glue it in.

    Decent patch. I've been doing patches and repairs with a regular hot iron for years, this makes me want to go get a microwave iron! I've been skeptical about them since they came out.

      Thanks! I still think a regular hot iron makes the strongest patch that lasts years just like a carpet seam. But man using this steam iron or even using that microwave kool glide iron makes it so much easier. If you do a lot of patches I definitely recommend switching over. Thanks for watching!

    Help! I'm in the Manchester nh area and all the carpet repair co's are flat out saying they can't repair a 3 inch burn on wall to wall. Any advice plz?

      I'm sorry to hear that! You might be able to fix it yourself or keep trying to find a local carpet installer who does repairs as well.

    Amazing repair, I overcut my carpet by couple inches now there's a line, any quick solution to cover up the line

      Thank you! That's unfortunate, I'm not sure how you glued the patch in but if you used seam tape under it you can re heat the tape with a steam iron and put a little bit of stretch on the carpet with a knee kicker to try and close that gap where the carpet meets.

      I answered that question a few times in the comments but it's a black and decker steam iron. If doing it yourself you can use any home steam iron and a few wet terry towels.

    What kind of seam iron is that? I'm familiar with the Kool glide but haven't seen the one your using

      It's not really a seam iron, it's a steam iron for removing red stains and other stains but I use it for carpet patches too. In the future I'll be using the Kool glide more.

      @@justsaygold oh, that's awesome. My helper blew up a pen in his pocket and got stains all over a new install was trying to find the best way to do plugs. Thank goodness for goof off though, The customer suggested it (glad they were understanding). Got the ink right out with no residue. Gonna keep a can in my tools from now on lol.

    What if I were to stitch it back with a sewing needle? Whats that roller you use?

      Yeah you could probably do that too, that's how it was done in the old days.
      That's a seam roller for pushing the carpet into the glue underneath, you won't need it if you're sewing the carpet.
