This in no way is the consumer's fault. With the old connector, no one ever had any of these issues with melting.
Yep
NVIDIA Asus strix RTX 4090 OC after 1-year is not MELTING
Using a Corsair cable from my Corsair PSU
@@fdiskformat5049 im buying a new psu for this reason
@@fdiskformat5049do you use nvidia adapter 1 to 4 plugs and then corsair cable
Nah, it's their fault.
I'm sure everyone just coincidentally forgot how to put in power plug after 4000's series released. I'm sure!
If user error causes a significant number of failures then it's not user error. It's a design flaw. What's significant depends on the severity of error condition.
My 4090 Burnt last night not severely I could get it out but no way I’ll ever pin that back in. I smelt it and unplug it right away. I actually kept the heat thermometer gun decided and was checking the temperature all the time it melted at 47 Celsius. I paid an arm and a leg for this card and I am upset severely. There is no way I did not connect up properly. Also watched like a hawk and had tons of support on that video card 2 Brackets to make sure would never move. Make that 51 globally which I believe is BS I’m sure there’s a lot more.
They need to be sued for this matter.
I would stay the hell away from the 90 series, 4090, 5090, 6090, whatever, if I was you guys. Just get the 5080 or something
I have a MSI Trio 4090 with a Corsair Dual 8 pin PSU cable connected. Its running fine here
Can you imagine that you buy $2000 GPY and it destroy itself in smoke 😮😮😮
Then u would need another gpu. And its only nvidia sellling so its brilliant marketing really.
@@KoloburTasemi paid shill
- Gamer used PAY DAY to get the 4090
It's not very cost effective
- 4090 used SELF DESTRUCT
4090 fainted. Gamer lost it's investment!
_Pal World, Gayming expansion_
I can thats why i skipped 4090's AND actually not buying 4080S also. I went for 7900XTX as i dont care about RT. Next gen Nvidia using upgraded version of same connection we shall see. I will not jump on 50 series card also until its validated to be reliable
@@supremeboy that true but I had to buy nvidia (4070TiS) for Blender, Neutral engine and DaVinci Resolve (3D and video editing)
With such an expensive GPU, you expect the cable to still be connected properly even after a medium-sized earthquake. And why should you only be allowed to connect and disconnect the cable 30 times?
all of the cables you use have a definite number of times for unplugging and plugging. I agree that 30 is a really small number, but the concept is not new
Fun fact: The performance of a working 4080 is infinitely higher than the performance of a DEAD 4090. Why? The 4080's power draw is within the limits of the crummy connector, while the power draw of a 4090 is just too much for it. They need a better connector, or better yet, PSU's, motherboards, and GPU's need a 48V standard.
Yep I think Nvidia knew there was a flaw with that connector and they are not admitting it
All you have to do is cut the plug off and solder the wires directly to the card.
@@yourhandlehere1 Impractical, but done properly, it would solve the problem.
@@ScottGrammer You have to expect a little tinkering with such a cheap card
I leave these discussions to the whales.
lmao 3050 all the way.
Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow
laughts @ 8000Hz
I have 4090 and still working since I bought it more than a year ago and I dont use a converter cable, if u have it, DONT USE CONVERTER !!!
I haven’t seen this much controversy over an Nvidia GPU since the GeForce FX…
The design lacks proper mechanical securing and tolerance for it's intending operating environment and has insufficient safety margins on it's electrical components for the specified current limits. If this had a second clip opposite the first and was spaced to 400wats max and could safely handle bends with 2.3rd or the less the recommended radius it would be doable, just a little less margin for error vs the standard 8 or 6 pin connectors. It was designed to 1st approximation perfect world specs, not the real world.
Guyz, make sure when buying the 5090 + whatever, also buy a Fire protective pc case, 'coz the 5090 won't just melt, it'll burn and evaporate within that pc case fire safety enclosure, so get ready to bet with your money
I'm curious if the wire gauge inside the cable is too large, or thin. That would absolutely create a lot of heat when the GPU draws power.
Perhaps, a thicker gauge wire would rectify this issue.
I can see the company who makes this cable trying to cut costs to the bone for increased profits.
they be melting, despite some others were claiming its just user issues xD
about to sell my 4090 and get a 7900xtx this adapter thing is rediculous and no dp 2.1 4k 240??
I’d be very curious how Dells OEM 4090 is doing…
green as the day it left the factory
I've had mine over a year, and so far so good.
MY GOD!!!
I just tried to find any news about this stuff last week if there any fix now, but this is what news i get
I have my from first it came our, and I never have an issue. The only problem I have is someone trying overclock with too much power draw and melt the connecter.
I knew about this problem before I bought mine and naturally made sure that the connector is really, really, really all in and after that I used OC software to set my Power Target to 80%. I also game at QHD so I get frames and silence. It's the ROG Strix card that's famously expensive but it was momentarily on discount while I was momentarily also insane and bought it.
I dont care what causes it. You pay for it to be designed properly and yet its not. FIX IT
NVIDIA Asus strix RTX 4090 OC after 1-year is not MELTING 😂
Using a Corsair cable from my Corsair PSU
I had no choice buying an adapter for my TUF 4080 super in a Pop air mini case, but i went with the WIREVIEW 180⁰ degree adapter, it's the Best of the Best for a 4090, made in Germany , Cablemod is full of sh!t
I thought this was fixed? Oh well. That 600 watt GPU should fix all this...😢😢
🤪🤪
I thought that too. Was very close to grabbing one. Ended up with a Taichi 7900 xtx
I just bought the MSI suprim X 4090. I'm really worried now. That card was over $2000. Are there any recommendations on what to do? Should I buy extentions?
My suprim x 4090 melt a little bit it's connector although I used cablemod 90 degree adapter, so the adapter is melted much from the side of the video connector and from the side of the cable ( 1 to 4 plugs) is brand new.
Never try to overclock, but is a problem. Tomorrow will call the shop to see what next.
mines good so far but I didn't build this PC, corsair did.
almost 2 years with my Gigabyte 4090 Windforce, and 0 melting sign, and I play almost everyday 1-2hours. But I am using the cable from my PSU.
Yeah for me 7 months old, and no melting, I also used the PSU connector.
What are your GPU temps while gaming?
Gigabyte is pretty good, I had one that lasted 7 years before it crapped itself, hopefully yours will last longer.
@@davehenderson6896 57-63c depending on the game. I cap my fps at 137fps.
Jehehehe 😂 y got bigger issues 2 more years and it is gona 😂😂😂 gigabytes breaks
The 12VHPWR connector is a complete failure. Bring on ATX 3.1. Avoid Nvidia.
You only get 30 disconnects and reconnects so STOP Unplugging your GPU
Having a Corsair high end PSU which came with Corsair's own 12VHPWR cable I'm not even a bit worried!
Great thumbnail btw.
And the plug is in the worst spot a nerd could pick! ✌
And yet I would have thought that Nivdia would have recalled the RTX 4090 entirely but nope they don’t care. It loooks we might need to start suing them for releasing a product which has a fire hazard connector.
Also I have decided to never buy a used 4090 when the 5090 comes out.
Since US ban China. They are in trouble getting cheap high quality material. Get ready for a lot of issue in the future from US product.
My 4090 didn't melt yet. My cable isn't bended very much and has enough space. The graphic card is working fine. The temperatures are reasonable.
I and 5 friends have Full Tower PC cases and 4090's using the supplied cables and no issues.
For room is proper.
Thus, Electricity flow is proper = No melting. Respect is found towards the products and Electricities Power/Danger. You will not find that with less than Full Tower Cases.
It’s arching from not being plugged in properly
THANK YOU FOR BETA TESTING 40 SERIES OWNERS, I WILL ENJOY MY COMPLETE 6090
someones jealous lol
@@Dempig why would i be jealous of burning power connectors and 0% uplift in raster
I don't trust so much on everything that comes out from Northridgefix, lots of GPU's are diagnostic as not fixabled and some end up with Northwestrepair to get properly repaired 😜🤣 although the 4090 melting cables are still a reality 😉
For me here can be also a problem from the overclocking side, i see a lot of people using msi without knowing shit and giving to the card 20% of wattage, more wattage, more heat and the cable can't handle it, and it's not only the cable but the connector himself, on long period usage with 600w on it will melt for sure, if a cpu with a cooling sistem and large surface with 300w is going 90C imagine a connectore with 500+w with no direct cooling, on long period it will melt
I wonder if Jensen is a distant relative of Dorothy and the spirit of the Wicked Witch is taking revenge for being melted on Dorothy's descendants by melting the RTX 4090s. 😆
My GPU's melting, what a world, what a world...
it's not only the connector.. 4090s crack on pci express.. from all that weight..
thinking about rtx 4090 full build thou as well but might wait till 5080 or 5090 if i do get 5080/90 ill not upgrade again for atleast 7 years i hope
But why hasn’t my 4090 melted I am using 4x8pin config?
can we not use some anchroing system like tie the cable with a tape to secure it?
Haha.
I'm enjoying my 7900 GRE overclocked with zero issues of ANY kind.
Nvidia suffering from Melting cards, stuttering issues, and being overpriced for features 99% of people don't use.
At least my card doesn't melt, explode, or stutter all over the place.
"AMD drivers!"
hasn't been an issue for years.
literally any game I play, plays perfectly.
And has better frametimes than Nvidia. Super smooth.
Amd must be so happy to use 3 power connectors lol.
any news how the new BTF 4090's and asus motherboards are doing?
What about asus
why AIB just add another 12vhpwr connetctor? ok i understand nvidia fe cards not having 2nd connector, but aib??? 2 12vhpwr would level out the power on both and avoid this disaster we have now
its like using only 1 or 2 8pin connectors on previous power hungry flagship cards,
this seems like nvidia is forcing aib to use only 1 connector instead of using multiple, might be another reason why evga left, if this is true that would make sense
Your guess is correct, Nvidia mandates the connectors. You either use the connector(s) Nvidia says or you don't get to make Nvidia based graphics cards. Most AIB's would be happy to sell cards with 3-4 8 pin connectors vs this mistake, but Nvidia just points to the contract and says "NO!"
whats that say about steve and his bs narcissistic testing?
they say its not good enough.
Steve need to make another video and apologize for this user error horsecrap.
To spend all that money on a nice graphics card just for it to fucking melt because it was poorly designed in the first place
I've been saying it's a garbage connector that never should have existed.
I will never buy a used 4090 because I will never trust the connector is ok and gonna stay ok, I'm guessing that is a big part of the reason they switched to this garbage connector, to minimise the used market.
F Ngreedia. They won't see a cent from me.
NVIDIA making blame the victim scenario ?
I have no sound volume at max setting.
uninstall your Nvidia gfx card.
@@3dkiller Sorry for the thumbs down. Seems that my wife un-plugged my sound system then she only put the power cable half-way in. My fault, of course. Wife's never make mistakes. Right?
@@outlet6989 no worries 👍
Design flaw! Don't blame the users.
I fix about 2 or 3 a week so its a thing.
All that money for a bad connector design.
mines fine after 18 months of solid abuse at 4k maxed graphics
My 4090 is 7 months old, and no melting.
Mine is fine. I think this is just lose wires. This gives AMD fan boys wet dreams about Nvidia fails.
This is why I went with the 7900XTX. This card alone is already and arm and a leg for most people including me. I'm not paying more than that for a failed product. When I found out that the 4090s were experiencing melted connecters, I knew not to buy one. Nvidia is now called nSHITia for selling an embarrassing failed product especially in 2024.
More like no funds 😂
