    Bought and installed 1-1/4" SpiderTrax on a stock 2015 4Runner SR5, back in January (Amazon). $100+ per pair, two pair required. Installed per directions (torquing, etc.) Tires, BFG K02 275/70/17, were the only change from when I bought the vehicle originally. Rubbed like crazy (loud ... sharp turns ... think fast food drive-ins, parking spots or drive up ATMs). Think it was the mud flaps. Didn't like the idea of cutting away part of the flap so after a couple of months, I had them removed a week ago. No more rubbing.

      I'm thinking about writing a blog post on this, because there's a lot to cover. A quick summary might be... Worst case scenario your wheel falls off, slightly better would be with the extra leverage by space in your tire out it places more strain on your wheel bearing. Benefits are widening your track width, better for off-camber obstacles and more stability on and off-road. I do find it fascinating how much controversy is around wheel spacers.

    I purchased these for my 5th gen 4runner but it seems like the rear tires stick out a little further than the front. Used torque wrench as specified and double checked each lug. It drives fine...a little rubbing up front when filled locked.
    Something I noticed when I looked at the boxes. One says...6 on 5” but the other says 6 on 5-1/2” and both are 1-1/4 thickness. These are my first spacers. What does the 5” vs 5-1/2” mean? Did amazon screw up shipping these?

      I'd be shocked if you could fit the 6 by 5 onto your 6 by 5 and 1/2 set up. That might be why you're having some issues. You shouldn't have a gap between the mounting service in the spacer at all.

      But thats why we have INSURANCE!
      USE LOCK TIGHT AND TORQUE TO SPECS OF 85 ft. lbs. tq.
      To be safe I would go 2ft lbs over by setting it to 87 ft lbs because some torque wrenches are off a few lb ft. Of torque. 👉🏾

    Hi what is the torque specs?

    • @SnailTrail4x4
      @SnailTrail4x4  3 года назад +1

      75-85 depending on your vehicle. I typically add a locktight and tighten to your standard wheel lug torque

    Are these safe?

      This is one of the longest discussion on the internet. I feel they are safe but you have to continuously check on them, and make sure they are torqued!

      Nope, it fit great with plenty of the ads for the spacer bolt also. Great question, and thanks for commenting.

      Awesome was there any rubbing issues on fenders or body mount I’m wanting to do body mount chop soon but wanting that wider stance im running trd rims with 285/70r17

      Yes, we did a body mount chop already and didn't have any issues there, but the front fender was an issue and we needed to trim that just a little more than before.

    They way you put on your tires is the absolutely most dangerous way to do it. Never never put your legs under the tire to lift. Just squat down facing your tire and use either your elbows on your thighs to lift tire on or use a pry Bar under your tire to lift onto studs.

    I wouldn't slide my legs underneath a vehicle even if they paid me...😂😂😬

      I lay under them, haha. As long as you check the safety boxes it totally doable

    • @SnailTrail4x4
      @SnailTrail4x4  6 лет назад +3

      Never had any issues with wheel spacers as long as you continue to check the torque. I've ran wheel spacers on many different vehicles and know many people that do the same. Completely appreciate your concern and thank you for taking the time to comment

    • @SnailTrail4x4
      @SnailTrail4x4  6 лет назад +3

      Side note: if the opportunity presents itself to get a wheel with the correct backspacing/offset I would choose that route over wheel spacers every time.
