As someone who unintentionally got frostbite on both of my ankles during a hike in Alaska...I can tell you right now, as much as I love the cold, I will never, ever make that mistake again. I was very lucky to have gotten to keep my feet, and I have to wear thick, long socks to cover my ankles and low cut shoes (never get to wear heels or high tops again) because the skin is so thin and damaged it just rubs right off with the smallest amount of friction. It was the 2nd worst pain I have ever experienced in my entire life. My doctor compared it to taking a boiling pot of water and dipping my ankles into it for 10 minutes straight. My first season of cold plunges (last winter) I went 15 minutes up to the neck, for the longest. This year my goal is also 30 minutes in the beautiful lake I like, where the water is flowing. You’ve inspired me to push for 30 minutes, despite some concerns about hypothermia. Also I saw you run bare-body in the snow. That’s the goal of mine as well, to have 1-3 of those 2km bare-body runs in the snow per week. Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱
i try it at home. i put a lot of pounds ice cubes in the tub and take a bath for one hour. the first minutes are very hard, but u have to bring ur breath down, thats the key.
