Great to see someone else braving the icy waters! Tried this myself in Batakundi on the Himalayan range. Trust me, it's not a walk in the park, but once you dive in, the cold doesn't bother you anymore. Incredibly refreshing! Can't wait to do it again.

Congenital cardiac here...I use to take at least one dip per winter since 9yrs old, something about it seemed/felt right. And now as a reading adult I get it now. Your nature/gut tells you what you need

Took my diver licence in Arctic Norway during winter, doing this and smiling, takes a lot of practice. After a dive, I was shaking uncontrolled while switching from dive suit to getting dressed, well done Jonna, most would scream in pain, haha
Those were the best morning routines I had in my time at Norway. The ice baths... They made me feel alive, well rested and ready to take on the world, head on. Even though I am born in a tropical country, I've never felt so good as when I was deep in ice.

Removing that image in normal water temperature one can float under water and not actually sink more than a foot below the surface, the panic usually gives illusion that you are far deeper under than u really are. Cold is very addictive completely opposite of heat once you embrace it and immerse yourself into it. I am an Indian, I have been in extreme heat and extreme cold before the latter was very comfortable over time. Btw, the viking music gives me goosebumps and a "Viking Feel". And you are beautiful too
Somehow, I learnt to embrace our hot & humid temperatures here in Mumbai after traveling to Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal & Sikkim. Took my diver licence in Arctic Norway during winter, doing this and smiling, takes a lot of practice. After a dive, I was shaking uncontrolled while switching from dive suit to getting dressed, well done Jonna, most would scream in pain, haha

Removing that image in normal water temperature one can float under water and not actually sink more than a foot below the surface, the panic usually gives illusion that you are far deeper under than u really are. I started swimming after nearly drowning and realizing people took my choking up water Heuuupppp, gulp as a joke. Never needed a life guard after.

Cold is very addictive completely opposite of heat once you embrace it and immerse yourself into it. I am an Indian, I have been in extreme heat and extreme cold before the latter was very comfortable over time. Btw, the viking music gives me goosebumps and a "Viking Feel". And you are beautiful too
Somehow, I learnt to embrace our hot & humid temperatures here in Mumbai after traveling to Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal & Sikkim. Ig my body isn't made to withstand cold honestly but I don't feel much of a heat unless it goes up to 40°C (maybe because the humidity here would protect us from extreme heat). Then again neither are best for human body.
If you think about it scientifically, the water is warmer than the outside temperature. Water freezes at 32° F or 0°C Everything above the frozen layer if water has to be colder to make that top layer actually freeze solid. All the water under that frozen line is at least slightly above the freezing point as it is still water. Yes, still cold but everything is subjective and you have to consider the surroundings!
