- My 3.7 Q50 needed a new exhaust and I wanted something that would not break the bank. This cat-back exhaust system sounds amazing and only cost me $600. In my opinion in sounds as good as the more expensive variant.

I was going to say the same thing. The tips should be recessed or barely sticking out, maybe 1/4". And they should have reinstalled the cross brace with some spacers to make it fit, but it does sound good though.
@@dbsimms63 The tips don’t really matter since you can easily remove them and switch them out with whatever tips u want

Your car sounded great to begin with BUT I saw that it was NOT fully stock when you were under the car at the shop!! Your resonators had been removed ALREADY. That was why you had that rasp and that bark when you thought it was stock :) I have a 08 G35 and am doing the same set up with different components. I can’t wait. Also, Motordusmes are 2500$ systems, you are saving 5 times on that price. Way to go.

That wasn't stock to begin with. Looks like they took the mid muffler/resonator out when you went underneath the car.
Downpipes and midpipe are stock. Muffler was altered.
Also what you are paying for is the R&D on a good quality full exhaust. They figure out what size pipe is best and the best amount of back pressure needed for any particular application. I will agree the price of a full exhaust is stupid high but you get what you pay for.

Well most of the companies out there are using 2.5" or 3" diameter tubing, so you can use their R&D, build your own, customize your sound, and save over $1000. Also a lot of the drone comes from stainless steel tubing. Sure if looks great polished, but it's harmonics aren't great. Aluminized steel sounds better, is cheaper, and more readily available. And besides, how often are you going to crawl under the car to look at those beautifully polished stainless steel systems😂

Hello friend, I have a VR30, I like your idea but I want to use the tassel muffler at the end in the same position as the stock muffler, you understand what I mean, it would also work in that horizontal position for flow ?
One muffled X pipe and a pair of hood resonators always do the trick

You should’ve gotten mandrell bend you lose airflow when they bend the piping like that. If you ever get it tuned fix that lol

Hey bro love the sound of your custom exhaust a lot . I was looking into the ark exhaust but that’s a hefty amount of money . Does this setup you have fit a 2016 q50 red sport ? Any drone while cruising? Can we get a cold start vid? I’m seriously considering an cusotm exhaust and love the sound of yours without it being over the top but definitely noticeable .
I just found this video & I have similar questions. I too have a 2016 Red Sport & this seems like a good alternative to the prefab cat back exhausts I’ve been researching.

Somebody explain this to me please that has knowledge of this kind of stuff. What is a “cat-back”? Is this system attached to the catalytic converters? Or were the cats part of the kit? I know quite a bit about cars until we talk about what’s underneath them. I ask because I just had an ordeal where I took my 2016 q50 red sport to a shop and very long story short the mechanic cut my cats amongst doing other things to it as well. My insurance paid for it thank goodness but the new mechanic working on my car tells me yea you don’t just need the cats, you need a manifold, a “Y” pipe an O2 sensor and all kinds of crap I don’t understand and somehow all of that ate up the majority of the insurance payout. I need to learn about my car smh like how many pipes and parts make up the entire exhaust system down there jeez

How sounds in the inside of the car
That aint no factory exhaust. Sounds like a muffler or resignator delete. The factory exhaust is quite no matter what model q50 q60 you have.
Yeah the old owner did a resonator delete and I had no idea till I installed the new exhaust

@@stoickhan nope, why is that? After searching I hear it does work.
@@lewis6720 if will “work” but it’s better to be straight piped on your turbo since that releases back pressure and the everything flows with restriction. In terms of sound, it won’t sound like the naturally aspirated 3.7 engine if that’s specially what you’re looking for but it should still be loud.
@@stoickhan that is incorrect. The worst thing you can do is straight pipe the q50 3.0t. But yeah I know it won't sound like a 3.7, at least until I get lower downpipes.

I linked the exact ones I got in the video description. The flex pipe is short and the resonator is a little long. I wish I knew the exact length

It'll work with the G37 but in case it doesn't you can place the resonators in the frontand the mufflers would sit in the back sideways. This will allow them to fit.

Looks like he used the old ones. The techs left a like an inch or 2 of the old pipe and welded the flex pipe to it. 6:40

Hey did you end up using the flange and gaskets?
They were able to reuse the old ones on the car by cutting them and welding onto them. I forgot the ones I bought when I took it in for the install

How much did they charge you to put it all together?
The shop charged me $300 to weld and install it. You should not be paying anything over $350 to do this job because it only takes 2 hours to do
A shop in sac try charge me 260$ to weld my 2 j pipe on my muffler delete pipe for no drone
