    I LOVE that Goofy wasn't getting it right so I could see what to do while my dog is learning. I hate it when people try to show you how to do something and they use a dog that gets it right every time. I can't relate to that. 😂

      I'm starting out with a 10 month old rescue Malinois, I've been around the breed for almost 30 years but I've always started with a baby, not with a teenager. We've been together for almost a month now, and I started out very slowly, mainly just to allow her to acclimate to her new family. I'm beginning to see results now, and it's encouraging me to continue, but a dog that has low prey/toy/food drive is a bit challenging to keep interested in the training. It's a positive in that she's not wound too tightly, but also a negative since I struggle to keep her interested. Oh well, if it were easy then everyone could do it...

    my dog wont release the item when we play, i tried to push it in her mouth, she gags but wont release the item, she is a (mother is) GSH+husky (father is) hovavart mix
    if we practice the out command at home she releases it instantly but when we play she takes 10-30 seconds until she releases the item, i guess it is her drive taking over but your dog has a high drive too so i dont understand what i am doing wrong.
    her toy is the 3rd circle of a kong classic (aka the bottom circle, she chewed the other 2 circles off) i also tried it with a kong chew bone who resembles a dunbell but the same result, she gags but wont release.

    My biggest problem with our border collie is having him "take" an object. He will happily drop on command but tends to release a ball early on the return. Trying to train the "hold" is complicated because I can't get him to understand the concept of taking a toy from the hand.

    Hi! Can I ask you for some advice? I´d love to get started with shepherds in some time (after I finish school) , but I´m not sure which breed to choose. I do have currently a dog , but I´d describe her as a perfect beginer dog: a little schnaucer/terrier mutt from the shelter with quite a few Health Problems but not much behavioral wise. I have fallen in love with groenendaelers, malinois' or dutch shepherds aswell as, czechoslovakian wolfdogs even if they aren´t really shepherds. I would love to get some advice which one would be more suited for a person with some, but not much dog training experience but with a willingness to learn and invest lots of time to proper trainig

    • @regenindergosse
      @regenindergosse 4 года назад

      I know you want Roberts advice but don't get a wolfdog if you like the temperament of shepherds. Wolfdogs (not the irish) are often very shy and don't like people that much. You get a surprise gift if they are more dog or wolf.
      Basically they have all pretty similar work drive so if you go to a professional and you have a lot of time...

    Hi Robert ,
    I have questions ?? I have a 4 month Boerboel puppy coming from a amazing breeder !
    I have 8 year little dog male weight 25 pound .
    What’s the best way to introduce Boerboel puppy into are home and family of 3 kid .
    My daughter is 4 years old !!
    Anything I need to do or know about the right way to welcome a new member to are family !! With proper behaviors understanding without stressing family or little dog or the puppy to introduce it with some form of positive encouragement or in your opinion ??
    If you can give me tip or the way to prepare my brain and to teach me the right way to introduce the puppy into our home our older dog is very friendly
    Older dog quite loving !!
    greatly appreciate what you do as a martial artist and your discipline and consistency and have your description is how to raise a good dog or to be a good person and my most definitely is always a great building block for anybody to understand discipline and consistency and repetition !!
    thank you !!
    I have great appreciation for everything you show on RUclips and the way you talk you’re a pioneer and truly a guru with dogs and the way you handle the behavior you are truly original (OG)
    thank you for your time and I look forward for any tips you can give me ??
    God bless you Robert!!

      Thanks for writing and your kind words. I probably would not choose a Boerboel with your circumstances... In fact, I'd think very carefully about it. I would be sure the dog is from a great breeder with a solid temperament. The small dog and small children must clearly be your number one priority... SOLID obedience is your #1 objective... Control the environment and you control your dog!

      Hi Robert ,
      Thank you for getting back to me so
      Fast !! I’ve had Rottweiler and other Big working type k9 ...throw out my life about 14 years ago ! I have built a long relationship with him for about a year before buying the selected dog .. that the breeder has selected the Proper selection for me and my family !
      I Have my two teenagers are quite big now and self sufficient but not self-motivated at times ..teenagers !!
      but the question at hand is too late to go back on the purchase of this beautiful canine Dog .
      I’m going to ask my shortest for about 40 years myself and I understand the calmness of discipline in mind over matter to improve my emotions copy over to my dog sustains us at his quality of thinking and embrace that my fear of my confidence within the compassion I have with in myself with the leader ship to be able to train this dog my question is what tips can you give me before I introduced Dan into my home when it arrives here by Craig delivered via personal service of the Breeder) and they will be here in a few days by some times made for us so I like to have some fun and preparation I’ve done a lot of research , behavior but you are one of the best any hints or tips you can give me in the state of being mentally when I receive the dog need to send to my little older and to my family step-by-step maybe a 1 to 3 combo they can all wrapped into something confident enough that I can understand alliterated and apply it with Percision repetition !!

    • @lewisdunn1487
      @lewisdunn1487 3 года назад

      Could be a medical issue due to hormone imbalances or it could just be the dog growing up and losing some of that puppy drive it used to have. There are some good videos on this channel about building more drive in your dog. Also make sure you’re not overloading the dog with commands when playing fetch as this could lower the dogs excitement to play fetch.

    How can you upload this video proudly. You're the expert dog trainer and your dog does what it wants to a lot of times. If you teach a hold correctly the dog won't want to run away with it. Push the dumbell into his mouth?? Good way for an unsure dog to not want to hold it any more. You don't give the dog too many treats?? I guess anyone can call themselves a good dog trainer.

    Good vid but @Robert Cabral jax is starting to get the hang of recall. His 1st birthday next week🎉 but when he has his ball that brings out his drive his recall disappears. Yes he brings it back everytime but if he gets distracted by another dog he WILL NOT come back to me. #jaxthelovinglab on instagram.
