- It's now over 20 years since the very first series of Wheeler Dealers was aired presented by Mike Brewer and Edd China, and we thought it was an opportune time to see if we could find out what happened to those early cars after they were sold.

I remember seeing this car at Ivybridge before the car was sold to wheeler dealers I worked in the peoples house that owned it and it looked pretty good then v12 sounded good
Well at least it was in Devon so I got that right!
Another interesting one Trevor. I'm sure all the TV resto shows are fairly suspect from the "honesty" point of view. One of the Car SOS cars involved a motor engineer I know personally, it was stored at his garage prior to Car SOS lot picking it up and he was featured in the final hand-over. He told me a few funny things. The main one was that when the car was "surprise revealed" to the owner, the owner knew all about it because the car wasn't actually finished or running! The shot where he is shown driving in it was filmed at a much later date in a different location.
Interesting. Having read a few autobiographies now (ex tv personalities etc) there is quite a bit of telly BS that goes on behind the scenes to create jeopardy or some ‘drama’. Much of what we see is not ‘real’.
Thanks. I guess they have schedules to keep to and when things go wrong it has a domino effect. TBH the Car SOS reveal I went to the car was running and driving and looked really good.
I do enjoy these
Nice one Oscar
Always love these Wheeler Dealers videos! A great one to do would be the cars from the Top Gear India special as I believe there is quite a story behind the Mini and I know the Rolls is still around too. Weirdly when I rewatched that episode yesterday I checked the Mini on DVLA and it says it is now black!
You are not the first to mention that so I like to please the viewers... I do remember there was fury from Mini owners when the front got ripped off...
Nice one Trevor 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
@oscarsgarage447 always do my friend 👍
When you get through these ... be good to know what happened to cars from Classic car rescue with Bern̈ie & Mario ??
Loving the content!
Interesting one Trev, it's surprising to see how cheap it was when they bought it. I wonder if they factor in all the time spent on it in their costs?
If it’s anything like the poo brown (now yellow) mk1 escort, it’s probably had to be completely redone, as the things that were done to it for the show were a shocking standard.
I know exactly where this car is and I know the owner who bought it from wheeler dealers. It is sitting in a garage in my village and hasn't moved for years.
I saw it heading out of Evesham (Worcestershire) being driven by the same guy who bought it on the show around 2018/19.
Those for sale photos look like after wheeler dealers had repaired the car, chrome wire wheels now fitted and body colour sills
If you look at the date of the post with the advert details it was 2006 (confirmed by the wayback archive), the seller states the MoT is due to run out in late 2006, and the programme was recorded in 2010.
My attitude is it is a V12 E-Type not a moggy minor so do not expect Moggy Minor sized bills with a V12 engine
Fair point...
So someone connected to the show bought it? Obviously realised that it would be a good investment over the long term!
Compare the image at 1:16 to the image 5:50. They look like different variants to me.
Thanks again Trev , nice one. I wonder if you can buy almost any car or bike, keep it a few years then sell on for a profit??
TBH... it would be a struggle. It may have gone up £24k, but over 14 years thats about £1800 per year to maintain, insure, store etc...
Wonder whee my old WLY 26 M roadster is now ?
I imagine the beginning sale of the show was staged like with mot wheeler dealer episodes of the time
Same with the 'roadtest', the internal shots were probably taken after the work was done
The most obvious times you can see this in episodes is the green spitfire (spot for the brand new numberplates appearing and disappearing) and the Porsche Boxster episode (where the alcantara seats magically appear during the test drive during the time mike is pretending the gearbox isn't working properly) - all these were done after the car was finished on a road near the workshop
I think over the years probably a lot of shows have done this, it's only a few that spot it normally. But having recorded videos and discovered I haven't got the right B roll I can understand the temptation to borrow some...
Well wheeler dealers is not about totally restoring a car, it's about buying one and show how to fix some issues. It's meant to inspire you to be a mechanic and/or to learn some tricks about hwo to fix cars by yourself.
@ it actually caused problems for my friend on the bond bug episode, he supplied the gearbox and appeared on camera
in the show to make some "drama" they said the gearbox he sold mike was no good and he had to supply a new one
the bad gearbox they showed been inspected by Edd was actually the gearbox they removed from that car.....the magic new one in bubblewrap was the one he sold mike
their just trying to make a program up with what they've got - problem is they didn't tell my friend this until he saw on the tele
I thought all the "buyers" were fake, and they were producers.
Nope, if you watch previous episodes we have caught up with some of the buyers.
To be fair the current prices have taken a huge dive . 2 years ago this would have been £60 k . And a very nice looking '67 2+2 , witth lots of history which needed recommissioning sold for £22k !!!!!
Great point. From our auction reviews we have seen prices softening (but some sellers still wanting their Covid paid price) but real stunners go for good money. Projects, especially everyday classics are struggling.
Have you ever had a nosey what happened with the Dodge Charger 🤔
Not got that far through as going through in order... but will hopefully get there
Was that blue a standard colour for that E-Type? Does look nice but doesn't look period correct for it?
Also is your John Reynolds Arai poster or anything else Arai related available? Thanks.
Not sure on the blue... I'm sure an expert will let us know.
Its not an Arai piece, I worked for one of the sponsors, and reallocated this after an exhibition...
@oscarsgarage447 definitely worth 'relocating' it. I'm one of the best known Arai traders in Northern Ireland. great poster. Think it's from 2003? First year of the 1000cc rules in BSB.
Think it was 2002, did a few exhibitions at Kings Hall back in the day.
What is the point of this channel ? Signing off.
Unclear why the YT presenter talks about 77 and a half thousand miles in the plural with an "s" and yet speaks of a budget of 15 thousand pound in the singular and that the previous owner spent 5 thousand pound over a two year period, again in the singular.
He is not the only person who speaks like this. Could anyone explain please ?
2:50 - You can clearly see and hear it when he mentions the resale and profit margin .
WEIRD to say the least.
I think there is a mixup between the pound as a measure of weight and the pound sterling.
If thats your only takeaway from this video its not the channel for you. Its for entertainment not elocution.
It's a local colloquialism. Nothing to worry about.....👌
@@69spook Seems to be very widespread or then again all those on TV come from the same locality ..... LOL.
It's wrong.
