    Installing the rear axle and springs on a 1968 Firebird the easy way at home and how to properly align without specialized tools, actually just a tape measure and you can get it spot on. Had a special guest this time stop by and of course put him to work. I like free labor and help was nice.

    As others have said, having your dad there to give you a hand is something memories are made of. Bet most guys (and gals) who have experienced the loss of their dad's participation sure wish they could have one more crack at it.Great video.

      Very well said, plus free labor is a bonus too. I have many memories growing up tinkering. Watching my dad braze patches in the floor pan if my moms pinto wagon. So those moments definitely influenced who and what I do today. Priceless

    Just wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I'm restoring a 69 Dart GT for a friend and I'm getting ready to cut off the quarters, trunk floor, trunk drops, wheel tubs (inner and outer, we are tubbing it for wider tires). Some of your tips will really come in handy...

    I have been using AMK Products for their hardware, u bolts and t bolts. Better quality than OER. Great video.

      I will keep them in mind. I even checked my order sheet again it says t-bolts. I am not happy with the u bolts so I am ordering tbolts and next time going AMK thanks for the tip

      @@VinylVillageGarage I believe AMD sells the AMK set. Believe they sell a complete hardware kit for First Gens, if I'm not mistaken.

    First of all thanks for all the videos - very helpful and fun to watch.
    I took a stab at this today and was having a tough time getting the front leaf spring shackle bolted in. The bolt closest to the front of the car wasn't too big of an issue but there was some clearance issues with the outside part of the schackle and I couldn't get the angle right for the other two bolts. Any advice here? I'm working by myself - I imagine another set of hands may be needed to do this right

      Really shouldn’t be too tough, are the frame rails and floor pan still the original or replacements? If they have been replaced I have heard of alignment issues.

      @@VinylVillageGarage the frame is original but the floor pans have been out for a couple of months. I welded some makeshift subframe connectors to keep things in place but sounds like they may have shifted around some.

      @@sambaltrus765 could be. If it’s possible when messing with the floor pan test fit the spring mounts before final welding it seems to be an issue a lot of people run into.

    Did you torque the ubolts to a spec? I’ve been looking online and can’t seem to find the spec. Thanks!

      I never found a spec either, Here is the answer that I was given when I asked years ago. 70 on the u bolts and 45 on the t-bolts. BUT BEWARE a word of caution I did that and then I luckily climbed under the car for some reason and discovered that almost every nut had backed of and could turn them back on by hand. I think I had like 1,000 miles on the car I have since retorqued them and doing ok. What I am saying is get them tight drive it for a bit and then reinspect them and use lock nuts as well.

      Cool thanks! I found a couple of things today on a forum and someone said 60 and then the ubolts kit I got had some papers in them that said 85 which sounded like too much to me so I was figuring on right down the middle around 70.

      @@justindennis1186 prefect, just recheck them after the rubber settles is my guess,
      You don’t want those coming off.
