My dad was in his late 40s when this came out. He hated most of the music I was listening to at that time. When I bought this and stuck it on he bloody loved it and couldn't believe it was a modern band. He went out and bought himself a copy the next day.
Lee Mavers - now theres a man who didnt sell out. Has always kept it real. They try and say he was too much of a perfectionist but they dint have the kit or the talent to do justice to his music. Should be in the dictionary under Keeping it Real!
That song was played on a commercial that used to pass on the brazilian TV. I was a teenager at that time and I used to enjoy the song when it was playing, but I knew not its name or the name of the band. I spent something like 15 YEARS with that song playing sometimes on my head, knowing nothing about it. I was not even fluent in English at that time, so it was impossible for me to know the lyrics or any other information about the song. I simply couldn't find it anywhere. One day, I found out that some apps were able to recognize a song if you sing or play a part of it next to the phone or computer. So I tried it, and AFTER MORE THAN A DECADE, I finally found the song. I never stopped listening to There She Goes since I found it. It has always a special taste for me.
I will never ever forget seeing this video and hearing this epic song for the first time on an old Brits VHS tape. It stuck with me and The La's became so much more to me than a band and song I liked. Tunes like Fishing net, Son of a Gun and this are why I still listen to these guts with the same wonder I did way back then.
It's weird because I've always heard this on romantic comedies and never caught my attention. But after listening to this closely, the craftmanship of this song is truly amazing and their (only) album is an absolute masterpiece.
Incredible melody and tone on that guitar. The vocals like an instrument. Doesn’t have a chorus? Doesn’t need one mate. Fucking stellar. Fucking unbeatable
the guitar it was played on was a red es335 gibson and belonged to mike pender from the searchers, it's the same guitar that was used on everytime that you walk in the room, he uses it on their cover of that'll be the day and apparently never gave it back, p90 pickups
Esta canción jamás me cansa, siempre vuelvo a ella. De por sí yo adoro a estos chicos, especialmente esta formación que ni fue la primera ni fue la última. El video es tan simple y me encanta!
This was the version played in Australia, minus the glitches. Just beautiful...the days when you could actually listen to the radio with tracks like this, not the pretentious, tedious, talentless bullshit marketed to death and churned out nowadays. Fuck that we'll stick to our music from the 80s and 90s (the bands still headlining festivals nowadays in their late 40s/50s - no wonder!).
@Brendan Mather but what's the point of looking for new music! It's so hard to go through spotify and bandcamp and soundcloud and read all these websites, only to find most of it being shitty and boring..... I much rather just listen to my parents' collection and get that instant hit...
This song is what I call a perfect pop-song. It's not too long, the melody is beautiful, the guitars are beautiful and the message is simple: There she goes again, she calls my name etc...It's a basic love song. I never thought it's about heroin, as some suggest here.
I love them I'm a 62 yr old Granny who dances around the house to all of their songs Keep em coming Its real feel good ,I love Coolio ,Radiohead ,to Andrea Bocelli and Wagner Nothing like a good bop while doing the housework Jenny xx
This song never fails to put me into a tight position in between the mixture of happiness and sadness some sort of a feeling that I’ll never be able turn back in time redo my life live my youthful days again or be with the people i cherish
I'm looking for a song between the mid 90's till 2005, I always thought it was Supergrass but it's not. I only remember the end of the song with the lead signer (a young man) singing haha-haha what-a-ta and then a men choir reapeting haha-haha what-a-ta with a depper voice, thanks a lot
I'm not much interested in the subject of the video, but this 'US Version' is actually the original British mix of the single, released around October '88. There are many differences to the 1990 single mix, two of them being: only two guitar riffs at the beginning and John Power's louder backing vocals in the second half of the song.
I LOVE how the british version shows sunny America yet the US version shows nitty gritty backstreets of Britain. Nice touch, La's. Edit: apparently there was a mistake and this actually was the original British version. Oh well.
There are no "US and UK" versions. This is the video for the original 1988 release, produced by Bob Andrews, which failed to chart. The other is the video for the 1990 release featuring the remix produced by Steve Lillywhite.
Born in the early 90s, so it got heavy rotation when i was a nipper. this video and tune are forever seared into my consciousness! It's magic stuff this song
I’ve never saw them live, on account of, I wasn’t born until, 89’. So it kinda makes me feel nostalgic, when I hear or listen to them, in their music video’s... I know. Nostalgic.

Yeah I thought that too. Too much gritty working class realism to sell to late-1980s American teens reared on a diet of flashy MTV videos with bright colours and eloborate effects.
Hard to put my finger on what exactly makes this such an extraordinary, unforgettable and moving song. It makes me think so vividly of my teenage years 70 years ago. Why this song in particular brings tears to the eyes is unclear. The British version with the mysterious dreamy girl coming in and out of shot is better.
this is the Brit video the "dreamy girl" one was shot in LA and is the USA version Trust a label to fuck it up: story of the La's all over! My channel has loads btw...

The US version is more Brit than the non-US version! So lovely x
It's not the US version though

Agree . I love british music of the sixties : " Bus stop " (the Hollies ) , " Love is all around " ( the Troggs ).
