I cannot put into words how happy this video made me.. people thought a friend and I was going too far when we made a cockpit for this game in his closet years ago. I now see we didnt go nowhere near far enough. Awesome job man does not do even come close to representing how much of a compliment you deserve
@@flymeetspaddle we had the TV installed on the wall and made a stand to hold up the controller because we didn't want a table to be too big to help with immersion. We hung a blanket over the sliding doors on the closet to keep out light and put a couple of those battery powered disc lights on ceiling and put up small speakers in the corners. Unfortunately gaming headsets didn't really exist at that time, atleast not for consoles, so we used the live headset to make it seem like we had a communication device lol. Sometimes we both got in for a co pilot. It was alot of fun and we spend almost an entire summer break playing that game lol
Having close to 5 controllers and a workable LAN of four players currently for Steel Battalion: Line of Contact... This tops my setup by far... Goosebumps and Tears from this, you guys rock! Keep this game alive :)
@@ManFromTheFizz The three screens thing? Unfortunately no. Just found your reply while attempting to look up exactly the same thing. I could have sworn when I first heard about the game it was said that you could link up three TVs to play it.
@@DGneoseeker1 No that definitely would have been badass! Not too sure if the og xbox could handle it though XD Maybe if you system linked 3 xboxs together you could . . . .
Oh I would be down for an HD Remake..might actually get me to buy a new XBox console for it..at the very least the controller would be easy to get again. Dang thing is hard to find for under 400 bucks on Amazon and if it's under 300 on Ebay it usually doesn't have the pedals.
Dude, wow. this is one of the most impressive gaming stations I've ever seen. Playing in that thing would be UNREAL. who needs virtual reality when you can have reality reality.
I had S.B. around the time it first came out. I had to sell it due to financial reasons. I just picked one up again off FB marketplace yesterday. So very stoked! Awesome project, you have my gears turning on what I might be able to build myself. \m/
YOU WIN THE INTERNET, GOOD SIR. This video makes me again glad I own Steel Battalion and its ludicrous controller. The game might have one of the steepest learning curves imaginable, but it's such an experience that it's worth owning an original Xbox for alone.
Holy crap you've taken this from a game to a SERIOUS simulation. That's impressive work. Very cool to see there's a community for SB since I dug out my setup and am preparing to "re"mod my OG Xbox (SSD for seek time and noise abatement, new thermal compound and fans, and Project Stellar mod chip with HDMI mod). I'm thinking I should invest some serious time in getting the hang of SB and getting the most out of it once I'm done upgrading my Xbox.
this is just what i needed for a mech game since bandai does not want to give us gundam games and that one amazing gundam simulator for the arcade thank you so much
Please tell me it's using a progressive display and 5.1 surround! I couldn't read any of the gauges until I used a progressive display TV, and 5.1 surround was so great for situational awareness.
You guys should make a series of how to build this. How to customize the electronics how to install the lights how to install the coaching station. Looking at the IMGUR Article isnt dpecific enough Id pay good money on knowledge of how to build this setup
I would love to see a step by step instruction series on how.u made this and where to get.the materials.needed I wanna do something like this for a gundam game lol
Check out the hackaday page on this controller. They are trying to make it work on windows to allow more development. They already got software running. It would be cool if this controller could have added software in the future
Steel battalion had one sequal. Wich used the xbox motion sensor bar wich was really finicky and unreaponsive. The logical step for a steel battalion sequal, is make it vr. Use your wands to work the cockpit controls.
Man, this is amazing. I just want the lights and the rumble. I wouldn’t even know where to begin. How much would you charge just to modify a controller for the lights and rumble out feature?
Hooooly...Shit...The only way you could make this better is to build an actual giant mech and use the controller to control it..this is the most awesome home project I've ever seen and totally something I would want set up in my house somewhere..my power bill would absolutely hate me every time I played but I would be the happiest little mech fan on the planet...now if only the controller was easier to find with the pedals for under 400 bucks...I'd totally buy it..The game could come later I just want the dang controller..at this rate I'm half tempted to just get the controller and hunt the pedals down later. I've been hankering for this thing since I saw it years ago in my local EB Games but I never was able to save up the 200 bucks for it and then one day when I did..it never came back. People used to buy it thinking it was all cool but would always swiftly return it cause of how big the controller was and how clunky the mech controlled..forgetting that that's how a mech would ACTUALLY control..too many fans of Gundam and the like expecting rapid pace combat I guess..I dunno.
This is pretty amateur compared to the mech cockpits players had back in the MW2 days. I've seen so many six point mobile motion rigs and full fiberglass exterior and interior cockpits over the decades this is just a plywood box with all the crap you could think to shove into it. Yet with all the crap you shoved in you did it in the worst way possible and put little to no effort into ergonomics or design. Wood is just not an acceptable method. My old flight simulator cockpit was metal and fibreglass, it's not a steep learning curve between the two but a few hundred bucks of extra tools may be essential.

omg i wanted to install mine in a closet at one point but never did im so jealous of this set up lol. there is always still time to do it

TheBestMaster7389 Thanks man! You're still def the king of keeping SB multiplayer alive! Keep in touch, we've got to get you into the box sometime.
I'm currently at 3 boxed Controllers for the same purpose 👍
I was waiting for someone to design a cockpit for this game. I was not disappointed.
Aaaaand now make one with three screens as was intended for this game.
Also, someone needs to make a high definition remake.
Do you have a source for this claim?

Holy cr*p. This is one of the best things I've seen in nearly 40 years of gaming.
Retro Games Collector no need for censoring. Crap in no where near as profane as...other words.

An amazing effort for this. Just Awesome!
Carlos Pandiella Thanks man!

This is still one of the most legendary videos ever made
Oh man I think I need to make something like this for my Steel Battalion sets.
Trying to figure a convenient, comfortable, sturdy way to setup my steel battalion, and come across this. That sh*ts hot man.
this is just what i needed for a mech game since bandai does not want to give us gundam games and that one amazing gundam simulator for the arcade thank you so much
Now,this could be a REAL collector edition for a steel batallion 2!!!!XD
This is simply awesome. Great job.
Beautiful

Travis McCord Thanks T-dog!
epic beyond belief. Awesome beyond awesome
Not a member of it but I love this little niche community. You guys are very cool!
You are a fucking mad man.
I love it.
素晴らしい!
I would love to see a step by step instruction series on how.u made this and where to get.the materials.needed I wanna do something like this for a gundam game lol
Amazing. I need to hook up my Steel Battalion controller to my Xbox and play this game again.
The B&W pilot camera reminds me of CyberStorm.
Does the game really activate the siren and other elements? This is amazing!
I miss this game and miss all my old community buddies that used to play this along side me
Can I have it before Titanfall 2 is out in the stores?
Check out the hackaday page on this controller. They are trying to make it work on windows to allow more development. They already got software running. It would be cool if this controller could have added software in the future
The only trip I'd make out there is for that!

they should remake steel battalion 2002
We should start a kickstarter
It should come with a new controller too
It would be funny if the.played was catapulted out of the box after pressing the eject button.
This guy is a boss. Who would have the time or patience to build it?
This is incredibly insane for a video game!!!
Very nice! What does the wave form monitor do? Or just for looks?
How do you make one?
Legend
Incredible setup!
How much?
How much does someone have to pay you to make one for thier own home?? (Asking for... a friend)
Holy s*** that looks so cool!!
You are my hero.
dount566 Now it's your turn! ;)
Wonderful Work!
Possible to make this an arcade machine?
Amazing!!!
Not bad for 2002y!
It’s so beautiful
So you're David from Brooklyn...
I am! And you are? :)
he must have seen the retro gaming review as well
Why the ph0ne?
Holy shit I want that setup
Man, this is amazing. I just want the lights and the rumble. I wouldn’t even know where to begin. How much would you charge just to modify a controller for the lights and rumble out feature?
Am I horrible for wanting to play mechwarrior 5 in that thing?
That's awesome.
So it’s the normal game controler with a cool gaming setup around it to give it more Immersion
Awesome
I need this
That is cool i own one of these controllers i was writting a pc driver for it some time ago.
did you ever finish the drivers?
Holy shit this is a masterpiece
Life goals
You might have too put in VR system in it.
You win
That is bad ass!
Why don't you make an MK3 do some multiplayer also it should run on xemu
I'll probably end up doing the same thing, building one for Star Citizen
I must build a cockpit.
Yes. Most epic.
Steel Battalion: Firestorm?
I want.. no.. need this in my life O_O
@1:46 I just jizzed in my pants.
this is legendary awesome
respect
Oh god :'( so nice.
kid me would lose my mind over this

Someone needs to make a new game just for the controller.
HOLY MOTHER FUCKING SHIT !!!
HOW MUCH IS THIS FUCKER?! I WILL LITERALLY CASTRATE MYSELF TO THE GODS OF GAMING IF I CAN GET THIS!!
capcom needs to make this in vr
imagine if Heavy armor had the OG steel battalion controller instead of a 360 controller.
Fuck YES.
Holy fuck, that's cool.
perfect for mechwarrior 4!
👍👍👍👍
This looks affordable
I....I love you.
A red phone, really? "Station Wagon, this is Oscar 3, i need a large pizza over!"
4 words: "Boys With Theirs Toys"
🤣 This is too much but Steel Battalion deserves it
This is what console players face when pc crossplay is enabled
(ironically steel battalion is played on a console)
Put away the dislike button, it has no place here. Awesome stuff!
Wt
This is what Nikola Tesla was trying to do…
IDK.....I think the kinect was a little more authentic of an experience....
