Every Gundam fan including me are stoked by this! This is the most amazing thing I've seen! Makes me wish I could pilot a mobile suit. Thank you so much for this amazing experience!
This is beautiful..I've watched Gundam my whole life..actually only found out a few months ago most of the systems/functions are automated..at least earlier models..I figured Left stick..right stick..=left hand..right hand controls..the same with the pedals..BUT..was surprised when I found they didn't..The suits...well..almost pilot themselves somewhat..they're very simplified at least...raised the question for more dynamic moments..I guess they switch between modes to execute..
Gundam F91 was what informed me the Gundams we're so automated..I'd favor a more "anolog" or manual interaction myself.. I always did somewhat wonder about it..I remember a scene or 2 from Gundam Wing when it first aired in the U.S..and I saw the pilot use the left control stick to for throttle control instead of the left arm control... But I mean..if you can control a mobile suit with a damn playstation controller in a game..XD..the set up shown wouldn't be too far fetched..
Reminds me of the enigmatic Musha Gundam. Musha Gundam arrived alongside a mysterious planet while for some strange reason he was looking for someone to be his "sword" meaning "pilot".
Yeah, it's like the suits have simplified base controls, and you can access deeper manual controls using overrides. Pretty much the base controls are simple enough for a child, but if you needed to control the hand manually, you could access that ability by overriding into individual manipulators with tiered control options. I'm sure that as a pilot becomes more skilled, they'd have the ability to switch between these override modes seamlessly, which would give them a considerable edge over their opponents.
Omg, its so claustrophobic, I can barely see anything but the two massive suspension/recoil rods and Rey singlehandedly won the 1 year war in this? I can't believe it.

This evolved from the fact mobile suits were originally designed for construction. You can think of it as operating the same way that excavators do.
