Sean still lived arount Minneapolis when I was a kid and my parents worked for FedEx, one day he gave my step dad a signed card for me when he told him I was a big fan of wrestling. Always had a place in my heart after that.
That’s pretty cool. Here in Massachusetts they used to come to local malls fairly regularly around the Boston area. Always had long lines to wait in but Igot NWO Kevin Nash’s autograph and when Goldberg came omg the amount of people that showed up we must have waited in that line for hours to get an autograph and snap a picture on a throwaway camera
Sean's matches have always been gold. If only the Light Heavyweight belt were around in the early 90's. Sean, Owen, and Hakushi would have owned the division. Imagine what that era could have looked like.
I remember his initial run in WWF. It was great watching him develop on TV. And his style at the time for WWF wasn't many performing like him. Truly one of the greats
Kid had a super rough upbringing. He still made it to the top with hard work and dedication. Than he fell but climbed back to the top again. His podcast is one of my favorites. A true legend.
I met Sean once at a small indie show in the UK. Despite having a shoulder injury, he showed up, worked a solid match and was really nice and chatty with the fans after the show. I've got a lot of time for the guy.
Bret Hart vs 123 Kid is definitely an underrated match. I think the main reason Kid had a forgettable heel turn was because for years he was built as a plucky underdog, who would in most (but not all) cases appear to be in way over his head, but would do everything he could to overcome the odds. And because of this he just didn't come across as a believable heel at that time and the crybaby match certainly didn't help.
The Dibiase faction angle sucked. A bunch of mid-card guys who were either already heels or turned into heels for the purposes of joining the group, it was really just the writers just being too lazy to come up with anything for those wrestlers.
I remember watching that match live and being shocked when he won it, even though I was familiar with him from Global. I already liked him, so I marked out big time. That run would have worked a lot better if he had picked up more wins. Even if they were flukes, it would have made the gimmick more effective if his win loss record had improved after that win.
The only way a heel turn might have worked imo is if he changed his name and gimmick because he didn't like being called a kid. Actually what wcw did (repackaging as Syxx) was a stroke of genius and probably helped to extend his career.

That Bret Hart v 123 kid was the best match of the ‘new generation era’ after his plucky underdog storyline fizzled out his heel turn was pretty forgettable before he left in 96.

Going to WCW was actually worked out amazing well for him. Especially when you consider it eventually to X-Pac. If the guy stayed sober and was less obnoxious, he probably could have been a much bigger star. I always found him interesting because he was clearly one of the better wrestlers of his time, but no promotion could figure out how to take him to the next level.
One thing about Scott Hall when he was making a name for himself he didn't mind putting anyone over and was never pissy about the decision. Even in WCW when the nWo were basically always winning or matches always ended in about 6 seconds because everyone just interfered straight away his matches had him losing to a few random people. So I always look back on when he lost the match to the 1-2-3 Kid as him always wanting others to be as successful as him
Even the great Scott Hall had his moments. Don't forget, Hall was not happy about having to put Austin over, felt uncomfortable and ultimately backed out of working a long program with the Goldust character and openly complained about Shane Douglas.

I remember the uproar when The Kid beat Razor Ramone. You NEVER saw a jobber beat a popular guy cleanly. You just never saw it. It was kind of ground breaking in a way. I might even go out on a limb and say that the first Kid wins against Razor might even be the first time ever that a jobber beat one of the popular guys cleanly, and almost definitely was the first time that said jobber actually gained some popularity. When I was watching WWE back then, I was a huge fan of Iron Mike Sharp. He was hilarious. I saw him wrestle at my local high school, and he was my favorite jobber. The man could do a comedy bit really well. I was really hoping after they gave The Kid a chance that they would do the same thing for Sharp. It never happened, sadly.
@Marc Carran that was his gimmick. He was the jobber that won, then was no longer a jobber. You are right that he was not a jobber but that was his gimmick.
@Sonic After giving this more thought... Goldberg gave a career ending injury to the only man that could have made him look good. The world works in crazy ways..

Legendary among us middle schoolers at the time. I've yet to see it. Can't do it now that she's dead.
Forget it Johnny, it’s Chynatown…
I’m gonna be real, I didn’t know the 123 kid and Xpac were the same person til I watched this video. Wild
Really
How
The mustach and headband are missing
neither did I
I remember when I found this out back in the day I was shocked too
That powerbowb from Waltman to Bret is really impressive
What a great video - thank you for your work! Never knew any details about the Kid until now.
Btw. I LOVE how you say Mudsen Square Garden :D
@Marc Carran but he is not like The Brooklyn Brawler
@Marc Carran that was his gimmick. He was the jobber that won, then was no longer a jobber. You are right that he was not a jobber but that was his gimmick.
I remember really hating the 123 kid. In hindsight he worked the gimmick well.
That's weird. Plenty of people have hated X-Pac, but I've never met one wrestling fan that hated the 1-2-3 Kid.
The whole time or when he turned heel?
@@Danielson1818 some ppl are weird
Beautiful Video and Remix at the end thank you.
Almost 200k subscribers! Awesome to see the viewership growing!
X-pac will forever be one of the most entertaining and talented people in the ring.
I remember that match as a kid when The 123 Kid ran off with the money jumped in a car and split. COMEDY 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
His match with Bret Hart on Raw in 1994 is one of the best I've ever seen. The sportsmanship shown between the two made it even better.
Awesome for Brett to work for him. Brett could make a mannequin look good.
Well said!
@Sonic No one can make Goldberg look good. He was all pomp and circumstance.
@Sonic After giving this more thought... Goldberg gave a career ending injury to the only man that could have made him look good. The world works in crazy ways..
These are quality videos. Awesome find.
I watch some of these from time to time and I love them! I’m gonna post this elsewhere eventually, but I love you vids!! Need to do 10 best if each companies most underrated wrestlers, or just a top 20 overall. 123 kid, xpacc, Waldman, will make either and ll lists potentially.
I remember razor decimating 123 kid and him piling the upset like 8 yrs old!! Great stuff .
Exactly waldman workednhard and worked his way up even though everything was stacked against him in real life!!
Og Sean Waltman aka lighting Kid aka 1-2-3- kid aka SixxPac aka X-Pac#1
Cannonball kid, kamikaze kid...etc....just more names you forgot...GEEEZER
Such a cute baby face then. Lol my brother always thought he was wearing a diaper underneath his pants. Good times
1-2-3 Bitch.
@@rayvenkman2087 Heeelllooooo. What BAR is little bitch?
Like, when you got a babyface killa like Waltman, you got to be careful how you portray him. Otherwise he ends up looking like, as OSW constantly refers to 'Kid', a little bitch.
Yeah it did. He actually had a diaper match with Razor Ramon. Where Razor won by putting a diaper on him lol
Dude this channel has the best wrestling theme remixes. That outro song is fire
This guy always put in a full effort. a pleasure to watch
This was awesome to watch when I was a kid. I remember all of this like it was yesterday.
