I have a 2022 model. I really enjoy it. I am not a fan of having to take plastics off for a basic oil change but the fun factor of these machines make it worth the time. I will be doing a full service on mine tomorrow. Will take about 3 hours. Listen to some tunes and have an ice cold beer. A great afternoon in my book. Hope you enjoy your machine.
They are a lot of fun. I don’t know a machine that you don’t have to pull something off to do maintenance. If you are just changing oil you can get away with pulling the inner fender liner out only I think. I have never done it that way personally. I always pull the floor board. That way I can get to the gear box fill and drain.
@@Story53s yes I do the same with the floor board on my xmr. The Hondas usually have a hydrostatic transmission which makes for easy engine oil /transmission oil change as it all one oil sump. Takes me half an hour on my honda rubicon. It’s a great work /hunting machine but for fun it’s the xmr all day.
@@damianh0507 If your riding in lots of mud and water I check my diff oils after a ride and grease the suspension. Also check the air filter especially after a dusty ride. For my riding I change the diff oils every spring . I Change my engine oil and transmission oil in the spring and fall. Oil is cheap . Engine /transmission /differentials are not. This works for me. Someone else may have a different routine based on just mileage. In my experience contaminants in oil doesn’t work out well and cost big money in repairs.
great video sir and thanks for sharing. These types of vids are helpingme decide between brands. I’m thinking I’d rather take an assbeating than spend that much time changing oil on an atv.
Glad to help. But in the end they all have their trade offs. I’d rather not have to disassemble the whole left side to change a belt. Like you do on a High lifter. Like others have pointed out. You don’t have to pull the floor board to change the oil. But to get to the gear box fluid you do. Thanks for Watching.
Not sure if you are aware, but you don’t need to remove the foot well to get the oil filter out. There is a little cut out on the back of the foot well plastic to give you enough room to remove the filter. I saw the cut out on yours in the video. Just changed the oil in my 570 and 850, both 2023. Both units had the cut out. Just need to remove the side plastics and the one section of the wheel well. Hope this helps
You do not have to take all the plastic off. Looks like a 3 hour oil change. Just pull the black plastic up right by his finger at 1 min. 47 seconds and you can access the oil filter cover.
lol You are right you can do it that way. Or you can pull the floorboard so you can get to everything easier. Such as checking and changing the gear box fluid.
About to buy an 850 but concerned about the durability of these machines and now seeing the oil change procedure looks like a PITA! Hope you enjoy this bad larry
It’s really not that bad of a job. As long as you maintain them they will treat you good. If you bash and abuse it well it’s like anything else it won’t last. Thanks for watching and commenting!
What the hell does an oil change service time have to do with durability? Do you realize how dumb you look saying that. These machines are pretty durable, if you're afraid of spending some time to save some money servicing your machine then you shouldn't purchase one.
No I didn’t. Because I did this at 10hrs. I typically change my oil more on my machines than the recommended. So I did it at 10 the next one will be at 50hrs then I will change it at every 50hrs. I also check my oil before every ride. If it starts getting dark I’ll change it.
I’m buying my first ATV ever a the age of 60 to take the grandkids for rides out at the cabin. It’s a 2023 Outlander XT-P 850. I’ve been watching some videos and cannot believe how much there is to change the oil. What does a dealer charge on an average at a dealership?
Just for you I’ll make a video of changing the oil with out pulling the floor board. But considering I generally go ahead and do the gear box fluid as well.

I have a 2022 and don’t know if I should change the diffs oil but I am going to change the engine oil any tips?

Good video. I will definitely b changing my own from now on after seeing what the dealer charged me for the first oil change in my son's 570 lol
It is ridiculous what they charge. Thanks again for watching.

Buy a Polaris and let us know how it works out
I agree, looks like a PITA.
How much does the Dealer want? Not sure this is worth MY time. 🤔

I appreciate the video ! ..........keep it coming, I liked and subscribed also :-)
Thank you for watching and subscribing.
Thank you. Super helpful!!
No problem thanks for watching!
Thank you Sir
Most welcome
Would have been great to see how the clips can be removed to detache the plastic fenders from floor board.
Are you talking about the floor boards or inner fender liners?
Inner fenders
looks like you can do the oil change without removing the fender. another reason why i liked my renegade but my outlander is better lol
Yes you can. I do it this way so I can get to the gearbox as well look the machine over good. Thanks for watching!!
Did you reset the oil life maintenance that pops up on the dash when it’s ready for an oil change?
No I didn’t. Because I did this at 10hrs. I typically change my oil more on my machines than the recommended. So I did it at 10 the next one will be at 50hrs then I will change it at every 50hrs. I also check my oil before every ride. If it starts getting dark I’ll change it.
1st service is due at 50hrs on the 850 not 10.
You’re right but it never hurts to change it. Also on the older models it was 10 hours. To each their own!

I have no idea what a dealer charges. I have always changed my own oil. It allows me to look over the machine for anything out of the ordinary.
Why don't you want people to know they don't have to take half the machine apart?
Just for you I’ll make a video of changing the oil with out pulling the floor board. But considering I generally go ahead and do the gear box fluid as well.
You took too many parts off lol. You just have to remove 4 plastics push clips to remove oil filter😂
To each their own.
