Awesome video! I just bought the exact same machine from a dealer with only 650 miles on it, but the dealer did not do all of the maintenance like he said. Your videos are perfect for the DIYer! Thanks!
Just got my first Can am 850, didn't know anything about it beside i paid pretty penny for it, after watching your videos i feel like a pro 😁, thanks man for the info and these nice videos 👍👍
I knew you were some type of aircraft mechanic just by how meticulous you are and then you confirmed it. I was a chinook helicopter mechanic and do a lot of the same stuff. Great video very informational
Great job!!! I just got done changing all the fluids other than Brake Fluid & Antifreeze. No small task, over all it was 3hrs. Be prepared to spend some me time. Use jack stands for safety, don’t trust just the jack.
I just bought the 2022 650 XT. Because it’s so new to me I wasn’t familiar with the shifting in the dark so I used a Silver Sharpie I had and coloured the raised letters on the console, highly recommend..
I am personal friends with a Can am tech. Dont be alarmed by the gold in the pan. He just told me yesterday that the gear oil will be gold metallic. Thats how it looks when they put it in at the factory. Its break in lube.
I heard about the Shifting Bracket breaking. I bought from Amazon for 18.00 Canadian. I’ve already had to tweak the adjustments cause the original was difficult to shift, it still doesn’t always go into park easily, I often have to rock the machine as I force it into park. If you adjust so it goes into park, then it’s tough to go into Low, can’t seem to win, Ya get used to it.
Very good job, I have hisun tactic 1000cc I need to know how it's corect to add fluid on the gearbox, on your video your add fluid to the plastic screw plug on my hisun it's metal screw plug and it's oil dipsteck on the tap of the Gearbox should I use the dipsteck or screw plug to check the oil level? Thanks
Great video! Just picked up a new 22' Outlander 650 XT last week. I'm located just north of your border (Ottawa, ON) and it's been in the -10C to -30C the last week so no riding yet. But I did want to mention that for those of us living in the cooler parts of the world, please, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, do not use a 15w weight engine oil in this machine! You're asking for trouble! Might be okay for the year round hot climates, but definitely not here. Follow the manual. For me, I will be going to a 0w-40 on my first oil change. It's full synthetic and great for the warm and cold months. I am interested in that aluminum shifter plate. How are you liking it?
@@rotaxrednex I was thinking about the shifter plate replacement. The issue I see with going to aluminum is the plastic airbox behind it. So the question would be, if something happens and the shifter plate dosen't give, what's the next part in line with it that would...the plastic air box. Would that not be a more costly item to fix than that plate? It's the same idea with installing say stronger, beefier axles for example. You want the axles to give before the differential explodes. A lot cheaper to replace an axle. You can apply the same logic with this shift plate. I'll probably just have a spare on hand incase some happens, like I do a CVT belt, but would pass on the stronger aluminum part. Just a suggestion... Cheers!
@@viperxbr we have been riding these rigs for a long time and we have even had one of our guys lock up his transmission where he was attempting to force the linkage into position and it never damaged the airbox, how ever we have had multiple plastic linkages break on the trai locking the transmission into one gear (nightmare), but not one issue since we went aluminum with airbox or linkage ... so u don't have to change it but I personally would recommend it.
Very nice video I think you did a really good job explaining and going through everthing but I did notice the mud bandit rope I was just curious is it the 2ft or 4ft
Hey! Awesome video, may I ask where you got that rubber winch stopper and the black winch clasp? I just purchased a synthetic winch rope to swap out the crappy cable.
I just changed mine. 4hrs on the machine. Used the winch twice for light duty work and the cable kinked and was hard to pull out after reeling it in, under its own weight. I bought from Amazon and the rope was from Hunter. Very happy, a bit of work changing it out. I took the winch partially out to make it easier.
Now I got a question. On your 23 renegade. Did you do your gear oils the same way? I assuming the front and rear diffs are the same on the 23 Outlander 1000 XMR. I heard these like to start leaking out of the seals if you use too much gear oil
It literally says 250ML on the side of the diff case, now his diff is way over filled and fluid will probably start blowing out the vent tube or axle seals.
Be sure to turn the rear drive shaft to access the rear Zerk/Grease Nipple fitting from the Left/Driver-side of the machine, and the other side turn again to access that side.
Getting my can am xmr in may & Honestly I’m more looking forward to do the first service on it then anything else lol & What is the part name or # for that shifter part you installed?
2022 outlander xmr 1000... everything basically the same for my bike except maybe the transmission may be slightly different but use the same product.? Is this correct? Please let me know. Cheers
The only thing you should of done when changing your tranny gear box is clean the speed sensor beside the nylon fill plug , very simple and recommended in the manual.. one bolt and pull it straight clean it and reinstall.
Hope this guy can reply to a guy with few questions about your quad I just traded my 2017 maverick 1000r for a bike the exact same… have a few questions.
Hi,just changed the engine oil on my 570 outlander, after the oil change ( and filter) when i start the engine, i hear a knocking noise and if change the gear it shuts down.is it because i didnt change the gearbox oil?
@rotaxrednex7295 changed gear box oil, changed the battery, changed the primary one way bearing.much better but it still feels like losing power and wants to shut down in gear, anything else you can recommend checking?
At 26 minutes in remember to check your water pump purge line. You can see the ammont of coolant in the clear line. That much is normal after a good 100 mile ride. If that hose is extremely full after a short or even a good long ride you should get the pump seals checked out.
Thank you!!! My can-am dealer wants $500 for a full break in service. What u did in the video was that a full break in service???? If so. U just saved myself a lot of money:)
That’s water in your tranny oil, not a tint from metal shavings. Also don’t fill your rear or front diff until it pours out. Will have trouble with your seals in the future. Good video though!
Just FYI you dont fill your rear diff until it comes out. It takes 250ml only (it's stamped right on the diff casting). If you overfill you will blow your seals. I torque every drain and fill bolt also.
