      Well... I just wanted to say that I bought Clutch XL. This shit is awesome. Idk if you remember me trolling ya for reasons I will not rehash now. I have tried TONS of other products and this is by far the best i have ever used. application, pliability, hold, texture and washout are all there. My apologies for past comments. You have a very good products man. BUT i do have one critique... the thin aluminum tub it comes in. too cheap, man. work on packaging and this product will seriously be 10/10 in my eyes. Great work

    Ok, so it's been week 2..and now I see the difference.. I'll be honest, I threw out the Clutch Xl this morning.. I've been testing it out for 2 weeks now, and compared to the Kevin Murphy Night Rider, it doesn't even come close.
    It makes my hair feel waxy, shiny and heavy. Hold wise, it's ok.
    Kevin murphy night rider keeps hair matte, the hold is incredible and it also thickens hair. I also today picked up the Mitch reformer to try it out. Compared to the Mitch matterial, it's got a tad bit less hold, but still good and matte finish. Both are phenomenal pre stylers too! Cocktailing them together gives great results too.
    So far, to me, the ultimate best at hold and matteness is Kevin Murphy Night Rider. Mitch matterial comes very close to it and thickens the hair even more. Mitch reformer gives a softer feel, also nice volume and thickness and decent hold.
    I was excited about the salon guy's clutch xl, but after 2 weeks of using it, I didn't find it to work well with my hair.

    Ok so I've been using clutch XL for a good week now.. And here is what I think comparing it to Kevin Murphy Night Rider..
    So, clutch XL has a great hold but I have to layer it. If I don't, it'll give a more medium hold. The problem is that if I layer it, it then will feel a bit heavy and shiny.. Unless I use hairspray, and then, the spray will suck out that shiny feel to it. Now, with the Kevin Murphy Night Rider, I have literally no shine whatsoever, and as soon as I put in a tiny bit, I right away feel the hold.. Like.. Hair feels tighter right away.. And it is super light too. They both wash out super easy, both have a great scent.. Night Rider has more of a light citrus scent, very light and pleasant.
    I have medium fine hair, so personally, I prefer night rider from Kevin Murphy, because I don't really need hairspray with it and my hair remains pliable and light.
    With clutch XL, I like to use it with one scoop, which will give me a good hold and texture and my hair will be light. And then I'll add a touch of hairspray. If I add a little more clutch, for more hold, I feel the hair becoming heavier and shinier.
    They're both great clay / pastes, both washout super easily, both have great scents, but I feel that for finer hair, Kevin Murphy is better. I'll obviously use clutch XL for when I jut want more of a looser look.
    My hair now is medium long, messy like Ian Somerhalder in the TV show vampire diaries.
    So it's not the pushed back look.
    I'm curious to hear your opinion whenever you review Night Rider.

    • @TDMStyle

    Great review as always 👌🏼😎 I actually was going to get clutch, but then saw the XL version was now available, so since I don't like hairspray, I gave XL a go. I really enjoy using it. I am still learning a bit as far as how much to use, because à little goes à long way LOL trying to compare it to
    " Kevin Murphy Night Rider" .. They're quite similar with slight differences. Both are excellent products.
    But now, I'm curious about the regular Clutch haha might try that next to see how much more hold XL has over the regular one.
    What do you think? Maybe 30% more hold on the XL version?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks so much! Kevin Murphy products are still on my to-do list. And good question about the hold! Yeah I think probably 25 - 30% more hold on XL is pretty accurate.

    • @tamasmenyhart8483
      @tamasmenyhart8483 6 лет назад

      TDM Style haha you'll get there eventually with the Kevin Murphy ones hahaha 😁
      I think the regular Clutch for me would be a little too "soft".. XL has similar hold to the Kevin Murphy Night Rider, and I think that, unless I use hairspray, my hair wouldn't hold as well.. But then my hair is medium thick, so maybe I'll try it anyway 🙂

      Possibly - personally I still like regular Clutch a bit more just cause it’s softer and slightly easier to apply, but you can use a small amount of XL for the same style. And you bet! Flagship is on my list.

    I’m wondering if you can give me some advice. Since I got my hair cut (undercut, like a 2 fade ish) the back sides seem to flop over now, which was never a problem with my hair before. Also apparently I have another cowlick back there so 2 cowlicks in the back of my head, but no matter my hair length it’s never been an issue. I’ve tried to put a bit more product (only a little) to smooth the floppy sides out but to no avail. Any suggestions? Also any suggestions on a good hairstyle for hair about 4 inches in the front, 2/12 ish in the back as my hairstyle doesn’t work with this new length. As always keep up the great content Matt!!

      @thebradenator2147 6 лет назад

      I’ve also got fine, wavy hair

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 лет назад

      Sounds like you might be better off with blended sides rather than what sounds like a disconnected undercut. With blending, the sides of the top will have less of a tendency to fall over like you're describing. In the meantime the best thing I can suggest is to try using a prestyler that adds hold and really blow dry those sections the direction that you want them to lay, to "force" them into position as much as possible.
      And as for the 4 inch tapered cut, you can definitely do all sorts of cool styles with that like a forward quiff, textured messy styles, fringe, etc. Hope this helps!

      Does clutch XL, regular Clutch and stickmore clay fiber make your hair feel tangled and dry when you run your fingers through it and which one would you prefer with a guy who has thick slightly wavy hair?

      I don't have a dry or tangly feeling with any of them. Clutch XL has a bit more stickiness than the others but aside from that, I love all 3. It's honestly hard to recommend just one because they all work really well and have similar results in terms of texture, hold and finish. I think any of them would work for you.

      Hello Lil James :-)
      First he made the original Clutch clay, but after some time custoumers requested more hold. Therefore, he made Clutch XL with which has more hold than original Clutch

      Imo it’s worth it for the price especially considering it’s free shipping. Other salon brands are similar prices for less product, like Moroccanoil or Baxter these days charge around $23 for 2oz, with shipping on top of that.

      @@TDMStyle I have long very thick wavy hair should i get clutch, xl or hustle

      Depends what you're looking for in terms of hold strength etc. Clutch is medium-firm, XL is firmer and waxier, Hustle is solid medium with a soft natural finish.

    I have something better than clutch. It from my native town . I am from Ukraine.
    (it is paste which have kaolin). So now i can't say that clutch is clay killer, but still one of the best

    I bought this product because of you. What can I say. Smell is incredible. The texture of the hair and the shine is also nice. Washability is perfect. The hold is moderate as best. But the application is horrible. It is soooo tacky. It kills it for me. It is such a shame. Only by villain products are worse in application.

    • @TDMStyle

      XL is definitely tackier than regular Clutch. Try using a smaller amount and layer in more if needed. It doesn’t feel nearly as sticky if you use a little bit and really you don’t need much at all. Hope this helps.

    As biased as always

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 лет назад

      Sure, cause obviously if a guy likes a product and it works well, that means he’s biased. 🙄 Here’s a simple solution: if you think my videos are biased, then don’t watch them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @user-xd2ko7sx1e
    @user-xd2ko7sx1e 6 лет назад

    Watch it or not is my rights 😏. To comment or not is also still my rights🙂 . The salon guy really gave u some money to keep u advertising their products

    • @TDMStyle

      Here’s the thing. If a person does an ad or otherwise sponsored video, the FTC requires that it is presented in the video as such. To do an ad without saying it is an ad, would be against FTC guidelines. That just isn’t something I would do, because I’m not dishonest, and I’m also not an idiot. Think what you want, but I have never been paid by anyone for any of my videos. I review products. Reviews are based on my experience with said products. Obviously there are some I will like more than others. If you don’t understand that that’s literally the nature and the point of reviews in the first place, then I can’t help you.
