    Holy Hairstyle! I was super excited to see this Matt. As always your presentation is top notch. Was really great to see how this performed on your hair. I have noticed also if you do apply more, it adds a lot of control for thicker hair to where it applies a bit like a heavy cream, then over time as it dries the product transforms into a different product which it's designed to do. Thanks again as always for your support!!!

    Hit the nail on the head, Matt...this is a phenomenal product (I too have purchased this product as I had heavily anticipated it and bought on launch day). I’ve owned and used my fair share of clays and pastes, and this is in a league of its own (I’m sure SalonGuy would appreciate that). One additional comment I’ll add to those who may be looking - this product serves as the closest thing I’ve found to a ‘matte gel’ - meaning, a strong hold piece-y look, with a pretty matte finish. I’m still testing on different styles (dry application), but so far, this has been the best, most versatile, product I’ve used. Well done SalonGuy.

      @TDMStyle  5 лет назад +2

      Hey Frank! You can definitely use Pre Game as a prestyler too, and personally I like it better than Original since it applies and styles very smooth and not sticky at all. Typically I don’t use any hairspray after styling - sometimes I do use a shine spray though :)

      TDM Style but pre game does not have heat protectant ?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  5 лет назад

      Really any kind of product that you put into your hair before heat treating is giving you some level of heat protection. The heat has to evaporate the moisture in the product before getting to the hair so it's essentially like another layer.

    Hey Matt, rcently bought the Pregame. I have to say, the scent is something special it smells fantastic. But I have some problem with the product. The hold when first applied is really good. I love the styling process with the Pregame. Unfortunately, that's where the good experience end. I don't really get that high hold with the product. It lack the hold, and doesn't control my hair as well. I have a pretty thick hair, and I also run my fingers through my hair a lot throughout the day. So maybe that's one of the factor? I also live in Malaysia, a tropical country. That could be another factor. Do you think I could have a better experience with Clutch? I had better experience with heavy clays before. Maybe Cavalier clay would work better?
    I have a somewhat thick hair, btw. Would appreciate if you could give your opinion!

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  2 года назад +1

      If you are touching your hair a lot throughout the day, especially in a hot/humid climate, that could definitely be contributing to the product breaking down and losing some hold. Clutch has a drier matte finish, so I don't think that would work much better for you. I think for your climate you may have better luck with something oil-based or waxier, like Gerson & Co. Tropics matte clay, which is formulated specifically for hot/humid areas.

    Any suggestions for super straight think asian hair. I would think heavy clays works best but for some reason if I shake my hair, or work out or just walk around on a hot day, just a mild sweat drops my fringe area. My barber was saying perhaps something lighter would actually work better for me.
    Any suggestions? Do you think this would work for me?

      @TDMStyle  5 лет назад

      Hi Antony! I think Pre Game would work perfectly for you. I’ve seen it work on straight Asian hair and it was amazing. It feels fairly waxy and heavy at first application, so you get that control when styling. But as it transforms it becomes super light and boosts volume. The hold is insanely strong too. I think it will be a home run for you.

    Hey mate! I've been using Blumaan Cavalier (the one with the zebra, not the original) and I'm quite happy about it. But I'm willing to try something else water based and I saw your videos.
    Among the three products from The Salon Guy, which one would you say has they strongest hold? Or which one would you recommend? The Clutch, The Clutch XL or Pre Game?
    To me it seems that Pre Game is a game changer among the three of them and compared to Cavalier.
    I really hope you can give me a hand here as I'm from Chile in South America and it's not quite easy for me to go for a product like this.
    Thank you in advance and kind regards.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Hugo! Pre Game is definitely the strongest holding and most unique of those three, but before you buy any of them I just want to tell you all the differences so you can be sure. I know shipping can be very expensive.
      Clutch for me is like a solid medium firm hold, feels very light in the hair. Still one of my fave water-based clays. The XL version does have a stronger hold but is also waxier in the hair and a bit heavier feeling.
      Pre Game starts out feeling quite heavy and waxy, with a low shine. Then over several hours it gets lighter and lighter and the finish becomes wayy more matte. It maintains a very strong hold and pliability.
      So yeah I think Pre Game def has the strongest hold, but it’s also extremely different from Cavalier so I just wanted to make sure you were feeling good about a potential purchase!
      Hope this helps. Cheers!

      I haven’t tried the Arcadian matte paste yet, so I can’t say for that one. However it’s a close call between this and Stickmore cream as far as hold - both are super strong. Pre Game definitely has an easier and less dry application though where as Stickmore is immediately dry and very matte.

    This one or Fuertes Styling clay 🤔 What's the difference and which one is better in terms of hold and more suitable for thick hair?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  5 лет назад +1

      They're apples and oranges. Fuertes is an oil-based clay while this is a water-based matte paste with only waxes and no clay. Both are definitely great in thick hair for their own reasons - strictly in terms of hold though, Pre Game definitely has a considerably stronger hold for me.

    • @borucjane1682
      @borucjane1682 5 лет назад

      @@TDMStyle thanks for the answer Matt! And in terms of stickiness and application? I usually use oil based products, currently I use apothecary 87 clay pomade. I wanted to try out fuertes, but Pre Game also sounds really great. Which one would you prefer?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  5 лет назад +1

      It's hard to pick one between the two because they're totally different. Depends on my mood for the day or weather/what I'm up to. If I want my hair to be soft and flowy, I'll go with Fuertes. If I want it to hold its shape all day and be super matte, Pre Game. Compared to A87 clay, Fuertes is much lighter feeling and much less greasy. So it all depends on what you want.

      Ahh gotcha, sorry for the misunderstanding. I haven’t tried it that way - I’ll have to give it a shot!

    Which is better monarch by blumann or pre game by the salon guy plz point out the difference for me

      They are 100% different. For me, Monarch was basically a light hold and was not matte at all. It gave me a very separated texture with a kind of dry-feeling but also shiny finish, almost like a gel, and it started falling apart after about 30 minutes. Pre Game is essentially the exact opposite. Clay-like texture that's not separated, super matte finish once it sets up, super strong hold, and very pliable.

      They are vastly different so it’s really not a good comparison.
