Way to proactively combat the haters, CGB. I would like to see a rematch where the mayor is played correctly. I think some of the other commanders deserve some face time but as always, a great experience and the important thing is the crew had fun.
I feel dumb here...how was Kambal played incorrectly?
@@jimmydotzelsecond ability says when one or more tokens enter under your control you gain a live and drain everyone for 1. “One or more” meaning even if 20 tokens enter it only counts for 1. For the card to work how it was played in the video, it would need to say whenever a token enters the battlefield do the thing.

I do really appreciate getting out in front of the rules thing too. It's a lot easier to enjoy the game when I know it's 100% nonsense and am just here for the ride.

The worst rules mistake we’ve had lately at our table is with the new fallout mothman commander. We were playing it as whenever a player mills a card, put that many 1/1 counters on a target creature. Didn’t take long for us to realize that. But some cards really do need to be read carefully, or if something seems to be broken as hell maybe give it a double check to see if it’s being used properly lol. After watching this it makes me wish that actually how Kambal worked.
Worst rules mistake I've seen in the game? Maybe letting mono-red aggro be a thing? :D

How was Kambal being played incorrectly? I feel dumb here
It’s whenever “one or MORE” tokens enter each opponent loses 1 life. When he made 22 tokens they should have all lost ONE life, not 22 as they were not individual triggers.
This is on top of all the other times Kambal copied two tokens at a time and got 2 drains instead of one.

After first seeing Kambal for the first time I instantly knew it would be broken if it worked like this. Think of all the easy token generating shenanigans and cards like call the coppercoats. It would be way too broken at 3 mana so that should already ring some bells.
It's still very strong because of the first part alone.

Thank God for Shea and her love of Black. I always get to see my favorite creatures and spells plus new stuff too. REMATCH for sure though cause this didn't showcase the decks enough!
The most important thing is having fun, to me, and I had a great time watching this game (and looks like you guys had as well, playing it)
And when it comes to misreading cards, I killed myself in a niv-mizzet, parun combo that could not stop 😂

while the call the coppercoats would only drain for one with kambal's trigger, the afterlife combo with the tokens from the coppercoat would actually drain for 29 since it would be 29 individual triggers that make tokens

I miss the old format of this show. It still good viewing, but the original format felt more authentic and was easier to watch. Overall, still worth a watch though.

I'm enjoying the group becoming more comfortable in front of the camera.
And as far as misplays, I don't think I've ever played a game where we adhered, let alone, understood the rules 100%. I guess that would be my rule 0. If the group consents, then I'm content.
Kambal is a cool card and Gisa seems really fun, and you can build her on a budget as well

One of the worst rules mistakes that I can remember won me a game (it was actually against a local magic youtube creator). I made a clone of an opponents Mirkwood Bats and then won the game when someone board wiped my Avenger of Zendikar plant tokens, didn't realize the Bats didn't trigger off of token creatures dying until a couple months later.

Ive definitely won many a game playing Sphinx of the second sun wrong and using all of my newly untapped mana in my second main phase. I only found out more recently I was playing it very incorectly and probably winning a bunch more games because of it. In my defense its worded very strangely!
Just curious, when the seer got exiled by lord skitter, wouldn’t targeting it causes Gissa to create the zombie tokens first and Kambal should’ve created the zombie token before the rat?
I'm fairly certain even if the Skiitter trigger resolves before Kambal's does he would still get the rat since the ability triggered when the rat ETB'd and thus even though he technically doesn't have the rat yet when the zombie's come in the ability can't trigger a second time so the zombie's come in then Kambal's triggered ability finally resolves creating a rat.
The rat entered the battlefield first, this triggered both Skitter and Kambal. Skitter then exiled the seer, triggering Gisa. Gisa's zombies couldn't trigger Kambal because it had already triggered.
@@zsorens4570 ah right, I forgot lord skitter ability trigger when a rat ETB not when combat. I’m so used to it auto trigger that I forgot it must create a rat first 😂👌

I wpuld personally like to see a rematch with the correct rules followed. Gisa is one of my new favorite commanders, and i would love to see her shine more.

Hell yeah Blake that was dope
He might have actually been able to ko the table with the play he did on the last turn even if they had played the triggers correctly. His opponents wouldnt have been at quite as low life totals if they had played it correctly before then and he would have had to recast the commander after it got killed by the Bowmaster but the afterlife triggers would have been around 30 individual triggers from Kambal which would have been at least close to killing the table.

the drains wasn't the only oops when shae targeted with skitter effect she would of created the zombies before the rat so blake would of made 2 zombies

Dude, what a great game. Blake's deck was sick! I loved watching it pop off. I wasn't impressed with Kambal at all... But now, I think I need to build this!
He misplayed the deck horribly, and no one at the table caught which blows my mind, and they posted the video even after all that which was stupid imo… but anyway, Kambal doesn’t pop off anywhere near like it did it for Blake because most people play it correctly

@@BrianShaw06 worth noting that the afterlife insurance tokens do etb one at a time, so Kembal would have been at or near lethal anyway.
At least Kambal can do some pretty nutty things anyway (and gets real stupid if two players have one, like on Commander Clash the other day lol)

Not really. "whenever one or more" is a very common piece of rules text. They just missed it.
The second part is worded fine and there are plenty of cards that have the exact phrasing "one or more". The first part is another common wording on magic cards but I HATE that they mention the effects happening only once per turn is put after the effect.
Ngl Kambal is super awkwardly worded… I actually blame wizards wot this mistake. Very convuluted

Wow. Blake won just by existing in that game thanks to Kambal. I didn't realize it was that powerful of a commander.
I can't tell if this is serious, Kambal is probably a good commander but this episode does not accurately represent that b/c he misplayed the effect of Kambal so hard.
It's not really that powerful, as the pointed out at the beginning and end with the reading error.

Every single time I happen to see anything with CGB im reminded how much i hate his personality, voice, looks, and actions.
I’m confused on why you would even post this video with such a huge game changing misplay. This was hard to watch and not even enjoyable. I don’t understand how mistakes this large happen. Just don’t post the video next time please
