Here is my take on every melee, all 93 of them, ranked from worst to best. I know a lot of these melees are pretty bad, and some are quirky but everyone has a preference, especially when it comes to the top 10.

I wish that the potato masher actually exploded, like the ullapool caber from TF2
same, but would’ve been a bit overkill, and useless in stealth

Make it explode on full melee charge, kill the police in it's range with the damage of an exploding barrel drum, and cause you to need a medicbag from explosion.

The chainsaw should have been handled like the Saw, it takes up your primary or secondary with the perk, but can absolutely shred enemies, while not being useful on locks or doors. This would have also made the saw attack perks actually useful for once.

They’re all the same!
Overkill should add some extra perks to melee weapons, things like instantly opening metal doors and wooden doors with the ding dong or blocking certain amount of dmg with the medieval shield.
That would be great!

Funny thing is, in a roblox version of payday theres a skill that does just that, opens lockpickable doors by meleeing them, which makes the stealth in the game even easier as now the only things you have to lockpick are deposit boxes, safes, and maybe something else that im forgetting

I think the microphone should be up higher. The in-game model is clearly a Shure SM-58, which are virtually indestructible. Short of blowing it up, there is nothing you can do to that thing that can actually break it, thus making it a fantastic melee weapon, simply because your opponents skull will cave in long before the cage does.

The talons in real life is a ninja tool known as a Teko Kagi (hope I’m spelling that right). It means something along the lines of “Bear’s Fist” and allowed a ninja to block blades with the backs of their hands, and then proceed to maul their attacker. It let them fight with the ferocity of a real bear.
That’s really cool!
Its actually closer in translation to 'Back of the hand hook'.

13:26 The Spear of Freedom is actually my favorite Melee to use outside the Ice Pick when I need Concealment. The Range, Damage, quickest charge time for a high damage weapon (3 vs the 4 of nearly everything else), just make it feel good to use. Also a bit of Nostalgia cause I used it for a Make shift Melee build 5 years ago. The slow unequip rate kind be kind of cumbersome to use in a crowd, but picking of single enemies it's perfect.
Plus it’s cool lol I used it in my one hit dozer build a few years ago!
I like it because it's the closest thing i have to a spear on console without DLC

10:25 nail guns are air powered not electric powered. the "cordless" versions refer to not having a pneumatic line to an air compressor
There are electric versions my friend. If only there were a way to find that out, like google or something

Never expected the katana to be no.1, but I’m happy to hear.
I also thought the Scarface chainsaw would be ranked much lower coz I thought I heard peeps say it wasn’t exactly an cash-money melee weapon, but I’m glad it’s quite decent. I think the police freak out when you use it on them like “THE MANIAC’S BROUHT A FREAKING SAW!”, so that’s a nice bonus. You can never go wrong with anything related to Scarface and what Tony brings to the game, weapon-wise.
I saw Scarface for the 1st time a couple years ago and I immediately thought it was one of the greatest movies of all time and one of my top favorites.

The telescopic baton is always my go-to for intimidation builds. Low damage, but good knockback and range...perfect for whacking someone to force a surrender.

That clip at the beginning just reactivated neurons that haven’t been signaled in so long
Personally, I use the electric brass knuckles when I have Joker, and the kunai knife when I don't. The kunai is deadly even without melee skills. I like the leather sap too, just because I have a real one.
Technically the electric knuckles aren’t good for jokers as you have to wait for the animation to stop before you dominate,,, but I sometimes do it too!

All stats for melee go out the window when you're using the weapons in VR. Who cares about damage and knockdown when you can bop people with boxing gloves?

They should make a duffel bag melee with slow speed and high knockdown, with scaling damage depending on what your carrying. Like if you were carrying gold, it would deal more damage than if you were carrying cash.

b33croft It’s as good as the Katana, with a 2s longer charge up, and a 5% (I think) chance of setting enemies on fire.
Would have been cool if they added a electric baton, quick, lots of damage, and can stun enemies for 2s

@@b33croft I forgot which one, but it has better something by 1 point (I think attack speed) also the great sword is equal to the katana. I play on ps4 btw, I don’t think it is different for what you play on.
The spear is actually pretty bad compared to the katana mate, the only stat that’s better is the full charge time. The attach rate of the katana is way faster, something like more than 2 times, the katana is like 100 hits per minute while the spear is less than 50
@@b33croft idk what you are going off of, but I’m doing stats. On stats it is the best (at least for ps4)
The hidden stats of melee mate, it’s all about the time it takes for the extra swings. The consecutive swings of the katana are more than twice as fast as the spear. Not trying to convince you, use what you like, but I assure you, the katana is statistically better than the spear. Have fun with what you like though mate, that’s what counts!
Jiro is the only person that makes a battle cry when you charge the katana and I love it
