    Listening to Allant's speech about life really makes me think that hitedaka came full circle with elden ring(the flame of frenzy symbolism and all).

      GRRM created Elden Ring lore and FromSoft job was to destroy that world. Fact he picked up GRRM for Elden Ring shows he a fan of GRRM and a lot of that is in the writing, like the stuff about shadows birthed by flames is straight from ASOIAF

    At this point, it’s pretty obvious that the Age of Dark and the Flame of Frenzy endings would have the same outcome, a world with no individual experience or disparity, especially with the usurpation of Fire ending where you ensure the fire can never again be rekindled.
    Seeing the countless amount of victims that were unwillingly sacrificed to keep life going it is a great tragedy the flame was allowed to burn as long as it did.
    you’ve done an amazing job with this edit, that king Allant quote hits hard.

    I think the Aesop of DS2's lore is that there is no such thing as eternal life. Everything dies, and the essence of the soul is it's finity. All lifeforms are temporary, even the undead, even the gods, even the dragons, all shall perish.
    But the thing is, what lies beyond life and death? Is it complete and absolute nothingness, is there something else? And even if it's absolute nothingness, how is it like?

    • @ladyreed6094
      @ladyreed6094  Год назад +7

      That's the whole ambition of Aldia's quest. As she said, eternal finitude is the nature of everything. however, with the first sin committed by Gwyn, this was violated.

      I always kept in mind that the age of darkness is not an age of humans, but an age where everything will end. where nothing else would be born. The true age of darkness is what lies beyond life and death. A pure and vast nothingness. As was Aldritch's dream in Dark Souls 3. Everything in Dark Souls is built on this - The inability of beings to accept finitude.

      @@ladyreed6094 Agreed. DS2 has the most beautiful and melancholic lore motiff of all games. The other games depict the changes and endings of the world, of others. DS2 forces us to contemplate the changes and endings of ourselves. To the point the whole series actually turned towards DS2 at its end, in the Ringed City (made specially evident by the Locust Preachers).

    We were all born from that abyss. That comforting dark. There were no pain, no tears, no struggle…just the dark and the tranquility it held us in like a caring mother. The age of man is our age of dark.

    There's more to this than meets the eye. Its reality. Many in this world are going hollow. We are running out of time. Find your soul and don't you dare go hollow. Ignite the flame or enter 1000 years of darkness.

    • @ricsouza5011
      @ricsouza5011 Год назад +8

      I think the reality of our world connects to the aesop of the soul series in a much more melancholic way. Everyone will go hollow, no matter if we 'find our soul' or not. Everything fades, everybody dies. Us, everybody we have ever known, the world and the universe itself. Life is temporary, an illusion, and eternal darkness awaits everyone of us. Thus that is humanity's true state: the dark, complete nothingness.

      @@ricsouza5011 Your comment exemplifies exactly why I love the souls series. The game universe itself is a poetic and metaphorical reinterpretation of our own universe; drawn in a fantasy sketch. It was gray being nothing more than formless chaos; it was of fire being the existence of life, and its obstinate will to exist longer than the natural course of things; and finally, the dark age of darkness, being nothing but the absolute nothingness where all things go. It is very similar to man on account of our being the only known race that knows death.

    • @Sometuy11A
      @Sometuy11A Год назад +2

      @@ladyreed6094 Not to mention the self-consuming nature of the first flame being parallel to life itself, where the first flame consumes the souls it produced in the first place to keep going all products of life in our world must consume one another to continue life as a force.
      A real-life age of dark would pretty much be all life abstaining from consuming itself (linking the flame) and fizzling out into nothingness.

      @@ladyreed6094 I must also add that your comment makes me think of Mainlander’s idea of god.

    Aldia. Aldrich. The White-Faced Locusts. The Sable Church. Those who worship the Dark and spurn the Flame are shown, time and again, to be monsters beyond redemption.
    They speak of being accursed and lied to - but what are the things they name as such?
    Peace. Love. Kindness. Hope.
    And what are the great "truths" which these self-proclaimed champions of the Dark wish to see embraced by all mankind?
    Mindless hunger. Mindless killing.
    If they are correct about the nature of mankind, then it only confirms that anything is better than an Age of Dark.

    • @ladyreed6094
      @ladyreed6094  Год назад +6

      The dark age is not an age where humanity (humans) rule without rules and shame. But rather a barren plane of pure lifeless darkness. Dark souls 3 has already proven with all the letters that the dark age is not an age of men. The essence of humanity is emptiness, the abyss. We can see that the abyss only becomes aggressive when it is in the age of fire, the age of disparity and multiplicity. The natural order of things was clear: Gray, orderless chaos; age of fire, time where disparity and life are filled to the mountains, and finally, the end of ends, the age of darkness, an age where there will be no more souls, nor men, nor gods. Just utter, lifeless, peaceful emptiness. The first sin committed by Gwyn ruined such a course, and so the world of Dark souls was as it was.
