    If I remember, after this crash, they started to require roll cages to be installed in all trucks. The cab of the truck was almost fully crushed.

    It's "buckin' bronco" but the audio makes it sounds kinda screwed up. LOL. This wreck actually drew the attention to Bob Chandler to put roll cages in his trucks and everyone else followed. This was actualy kinda scary...Kramer would have gotten really hurt.

  • @ewertjoe

    After this wreck, Bob Chandler and the Bigfoot crew realized the need for a bette rroll cage, because very few if any of the trucks had a decent rollcage back then. They went back to the shop and rebuilt the truck with more bars inside to prevent the crushing of the driver's compartment. I was really little when this happened but this wreck paved the way for monster truck technology.

    there was a roll cage but it was very simple non cross braced roll cage insede the cab.the reason for jim being alive is that his side of the cage had a brace that minimized an otherwise lethal crash.

    I was about 3 years old but I actually vaguely remember this. I was such a Bigfoot nut (still am) that I remember being SO UPSET because I thought Bigfoot wouldn't be around anymore. LoL

    These trucks are also much heavier than their modern counterparts, where the chassis design not only makes them lighter but inherently strong since the chassis itself forms the rollcage.

    I must have been about 8 years old when that happened. I remember that.

    remember, this was back when these were actually trucks, that were just modied and lifted, the trucks they use these days are a cage frame with a fiber glass or sheet metal body on it.

    This should be Bigfoot 6. According to the BF website Jim Kramer started driving Bigfoot 6 after Rich Hoosier took over driving Bigfoot 4. The first time a Bigfoot truck had ever been crashed was Bigfoot 4 by Jim Kramer in Murray, Kentucky, 1986 (during the national anthem). The second was this crash a year later to the day.

    I remember, at the time this happened there really hadn't be a wreck this violent in this sport at this point...This is nothing compared to the rollovers that happen on a semi regular basis today with Monster Jam, but back then, this was terrible.

    This double rollover that you are referring to, is this the one that occured when Bigfoot was racing Hercules? If so, that was at a 1988 HART event in Columbus, Ohio.

    • @nathanmcdonald610
      @nathanmcdonald610 5 лет назад

      Nah, it was repaired. Bigfoot 6 continued to compete long after this wreck. Most of the damage was cosmetic.

    Back then, you didn't wreck the truck..... PERIOD. You waxed the truck, shined the chrome, and expected it to be that way next week.
