The beginning is hard.I don’t miss it at all anymore. For me the hangovers became so physically debilitating I couldn’t function for days. Congratulations on your sobriety, glad you are helping people. Good luck!
Great video, i can relate to lots of what you’ve spoke about. I’m almost 6 weeks sober, not the first time I’ve stopped drinking, but the first time I thought I can’t moderate my drink at all, so its got to be stopped for good . I’ve just had my 50th birthday and it’s the first birthday in my adult years I’ve spent sober and it’s not too bad . My real kick up the bum was having a fatty enlarged liver - as well as being over weight - like you mentioned it doesn’t get any better as you age - drink volume increases and weight , plus you stop enjoying it as much and it becomes routine with bad hangovers, depression and anxiety . Cheers for the videos it helps to see I’m not alone on this journey . My biggest worry is the social side being sober , my whole adult social life has mainly involved drinking .
I'm 69 and a drinker 🍻 more or less my whole life. Never a day drinker, first work and then play. 20 years of a post divorce funk, 235 lbs, depressed... Then post COVID19 I stumbled upon paleo low carb diet and exercise. I continued my 10 ➕ 🍻 and a now 210 lbs 🏋 and HIIT... I worked up my drinking before with 12 step and the VA. All good now. Until it ain't. 😢💪
7 days sober right now and everything you have done, so have I. Just clearing my office and finding empties.......... I feel awake and alive, but I'm now craving chocolate.......
Thank you for your story..i spent time in the army..alcohol was everywhere..many soldiers self medicate..when i lived in Asia it was everywhere again..if you didnt drink you were seen as strange..now in my fifties i have tried to quit..and have had some withdrawals..not pleasant..to put it mildly..its scary..but absolutely legal..at least in the west..bless all who struggle with this drug.
An inspiring and jaw dropping honest story. Great to see you have your own channel and I look forward to further videos. You are one of the main sober people who I follow and inspire me - both on here and Instagram. Thank you Dave!
Such an honest account of your journey Dave - an inspirational message to those of us with much less will power! Well done for breaking the habit - I hope you are very proud of your achievement - we certainly are.
