Small correction: Urdu is written in Nastaliq, or Persian script, not Arabic script. It's based on the Arabic script, but it was created during a renaissance of Persian culture in Iranian cultural regions. One of the main differences between Hindi and Urdu is that Urdu is deeply influenced by Persian language, with a large number of Persian and Iranian loanwords.

    • @SonofSethoitae
      @SonofSethoitae 5 лет назад +9

@@BlackLotusVisualArchive It's worth noting as well that the Urdu version of Nastaliq has letters added in addition to those already added by the Persians. There are something like 10 letters added to the Arabic Script, between Persian and Urdu, to the Nastaliq used in Pakistan.
There are also some differences with diacritics and retroflexes, but I suspect those are a bit technical for someone like me, who doesn't speak or read Urdu.

@@finnianquail8881 Nastaliq refers to the specific type of Perseo-Arabic being used in Pakistan. Farsi, for example, is written in a different script. As as previously mentioned, there are fairly substantial additions to the alphabet used for Urdu. The ultimate point being, it's not really correct to say it's "written in Arabic".

True, but Nastaliq is also written fairly differently, Urdu has even more letters to represent sounds not found in Persian (but found in Indian languages), and a regular Arabic typeset is used on most signs due to lack of compatibility with Nastaliq in Pakistan (and to some extent even neighboring Afghanistan and Iran)

Imagine if you have a house, you 10 people living there from 1000s of years, 2 New people come in. You allow them in. They bread faster compared to your people. After 50 years, your 10 people because of slow normal breading have now turned to 15 people and those 2 have now turned into 30 people and they claim your house and when you try to discuss they start killing your people so you run away to save life of your family and than its 30 people of them living in your house and they ask for referendum of your house where you have no vote as you are living as refugees with your family in your neighborhood.

What a stupid way of explaining. The Kashmiris mass converted to Islam, thats how Hindus became minority. Not because they were outbred (though Hindus were impotent as always no doubt). Look at the surnames of Kashmiri Muslims you'll see the truth. Even the so called Mughal and Sayyid communities have Kashmiri blood.
Talking about Kashmiri Hindus they comprise at the most 5% of the total Indian Occupied Kashmiri population within and outside India whoch is currently 8 million (it was 9% in 1990). Muslims are willing to accept them back but their votes will make little difference in an azadi referandum which India knows very well and due to which India masterminded the Brahmin exodus in the early 90s (since of course India had nothing to lose by kicking the Pandits out and making it look like the handiwork of local Muslims)

Regarding the referendum, it was not the part of instrument of assesion but a solution to conflict suggested by UN while it was asked to mediate. Also for this referendum to take place Pakistan was to remove all of it's military presence from whole of the J&K and then India would remove most of the forces while keeping a minimal military presence to ensure stability, under these conditions the referendum was supposed to take place. These steps were to be followed in chronological orders. But Pakistan never removed their forces from it's occupied land which was the first step hence Pakistan is the real reason there is no referendum in J&K. This is all written in UN's suggestion of referendum please read it if you won't believe me.

You were wrong about the referendum. When India and Pak went to UN about the conflict. It was the UN's resolution that had roughly following steps:
    1. Pakistan should take it troops back to International border back from LOC.
    2. India should take its troops back to India and leave troops that are needed for defense and administration.
    3. A referendum will be held then and then only.
This has not followed because of the mistrust between two countries as both think that take away troops means giving a free hand to the other and as Pakistan has to withdraw first, it will essentially lose its control over the gained land If India doesnt comply to UN resolution. And between all of this politics, the people of both the countries and especially those living in POK and J&K are suffering.
About China invading India, it can also be said that India violated Chinese borders first. Because of the mess that the Brits left in that region both India and China were holding different documents that said different about what the actual border was. India used it forward first policy and had installed outpost according to their thinking what the international border was which actually was behind the line of the Chinese troops and hence was seen as chinese as border incursion by the Indian troops. This was the conflict that should have never happened as it could have been easily solved diplomatically. But this rift that happened between India and China has had great negative implications on development of India and its conflict over Kashmir with Pakistan.

Great video. Just a few points i would like to add:
    1) In the video, you narrated that the Pakistani Pashtun tribesmen who invaded Kashmir in 47 were the kin of local muslim Kashmiris. That's not quite correct. Pashtuns and Kashmiris are quite different from each other with huge geographical distance between them separated by valleys and mountain ranges. Kashmiris are habitants of the Himalayas meanwhile Pashtun tribes are mostly settled around Hindukash mountain range around rivers Kabul and Swat. Pashtuns and Kashmiris can't even understand each others language. The hybrid ethnic group residing between both of them is the Hazara people who speak Hindku. Kashmiris and Hazaras can easily understand each other.
    2) You said that Pakistanis went into Kashmir when it was ascertained that Kashmiris will not be allowed to vote on which side they want to join. Well, that's a misstatement as the concept of voting only originated only after the case fire took effect in 48 and the matter was referred to the UN Security Council. The British rules of partition for all princely states where that they could either join India or Pak or choose to stay independent and that decision was to be taken by the Raja (ruler) of that princely state. It was never meant to be democratic. Swat, Chitral, Bahawalpur, Sangar and many other princely states agreed to join Pak only because their ruler opted to do so.
    3) The reason why Pakistan wants Kashmir so desperately is because its only source of water (Indus river) flows through Kashmir. And till Kashmir is in Indian hands, Pakistan will always be at Indian mercy. It would have been better if that point was highlighted with more emphasis because that's extremely important.
    3) Adding the Bangladesh story was irrelevant to the Kashmir conflict. They are both unrelated and only increased the length of the video.

As a 50% Indian I reckon that India would probably have been in a better position in the modern world had it become part of the British commonwealth later. They’re doing alright now but the bitter rivalry between Pakistan and India could have been avoided had the British not split the country apart. On top of that the countries in the commonwealth nowadays are generally doing well and considered “developed”.
However, given the circumstances I can understand why British India wanted independence. The British (as most colonial rulers throughout history) weren’t particularly kind to the locals and were more worried about economic gains than supporting the country.
Either way, I’m glad the whole region is doing better now. I hope the Kashmir issue dies down and no war occurs.
(It seems to be a theme in history that stuff goes wrong when outside rulers make decisions that ignore the locals... (the Middle East after WW1 for example).)

I would like to add a few things to your quite well made video.
    1. At 15:24 you said Kargil War took place in 1991. It actually took place in 1999.
    2. Between 3:50 to 4:20 you said during partition 30% was Hindu. Then you mentioned that Kashmir Valley had 4% Hindu. You should have added that 4% was the figure much later today (includes non permanent residents). In 1947 Kashmir valley was around 10% Hindu, with capital Srinagar having 20% Hindu
    www.dailyo.in/politics/jammu-and-kashmir-pakistan-gilgit-baltistan-hindus-sikhs-1947-partition-karan-singh-poonch-muzaffarabad/story/1/12632.html
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exodus_of_Kashmiri_Hindus
    3. The indigenous people of Kashmir are Kashmiri Pandits who are Hindus. These Kashmiri Hindus faced genocide and were driven out completely between 1989 to 1991. These indigenous Hindus were majority throughout history and they faced genocide multiple times before they were turned into a minority. They have no where to go and no place to call home and can definitely not be safe in Islamic Pakistan. For them to have a homeland and be safe it is necessary for Kashmir to be in Secular India. Also they are indigenous to the land and they want to be a part of India.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashmiri_Pandit
    kashmirstudygroup.com/images/maps_images/Fig4_v6.jpg
    4. East Pakistan had 28% Hindu till 1971. After genocide committed on Hindu Bengalis by Pakistan army their population declined to less then 15%. Today indigenous Bengali Hindus are just 6% of Bangladeshi population. That 30% is what kept East Pakistan more secular and thus was a thorn in the way for Islamic Pakistan. Thus the genocide committed. Not to mention in 1947 East Pakistan was about 40% Hindu. Look for Noakhali genocide.
    Good video otherwise.

When the colony of British India became independent from Britain, Muslims following their leader Jinnah got their own independent country called Pakistan. Kashmir had a nominal Hindu princely ruler Hari Singh and a representative Muslim political leader Sheikh Abdullah, who jointly decided to become an independent country of their own. This terrified Jinnah, the leader of the newly forming Pakistan, because he was worried that if Kashmir went its own way, then other groups could likewise go their own way to form their own independent countries instead of joining Pakistan - which would mean the stillbirth and collapse of Pakistan. Jinnah was particularly frightened that the restless and heavily armed Pashtun tribes would form their own independent Pashtunistan, in imitation of Kashmir. So Jinnah decided to despatch a group of armed Pashtun mercenaries to attack Kashmir, and take possession of it for him. When the Pashtun mercenaries attacked, Hari Singh and Sheikh Abdullah fled to Delhi, India and pledged to join India if it would help to repel the Pashtun invaders. India accepted their pledge and sent the Indian Army's Sikh Light Infantry to fight off the Pashtun mercenaries. The fighting then escalated as Pakistan sent its army into the fight. The Viceroy of India, a Brit named Mountbatten, was fearful that the British officers embedded among the Indian and Pakistani forces would be forced to fight and kill each other - something that he as a Brit wished to avoid at all costs (even though he was in the pay of India's new govt and was supposed to be loyal to India's interests, he was more worried about his fellow Brits.) So Mountbatten convinced Indian leaders to take the case to the UN and pursue a ceasefire. The area has then remained in contested standoff ever since.

I am absolutely for a referendum. It seems like the most civilized way to solve the conflict. However the problem with having a plebiscite now is that a significant population of Hindus from the region (who would probably vote to be with India) have been driven away from Kashmir by terrorists. There are various accounts / news reports which state that LeT terrorists will routinely walk into a Hindu dominated village and slit the throats of child, women, and men. Hence the exodus. The demographic change will have an effect on the result of any such referendum

As a half Indian and half Pakistani, I believe that my opinions regarding this are completely neutral, and only based on factual evidence.
When asked, the leader of Kashmir claimed that he wanted Kashmir to be an independent state: in other words, neither part of India or Pakistan.
If that cannot be enforced today, I do believe that there should be a vote among the Kashmiri people.
Technically speaking, the reasons for Pakistan wanting Kashmir was understandable; Kashmir was overwhelmingly Muslim, and as we know, the whole purpose of the split was to segregate all the Muslims into Pakistan and Hindus into India.
However, when Pakistan carried out an invasion into Kashmir, the leader of Kashmir did not have a big enough army to fight it alone. He turned to Nehru (the leader of India at the time) for help to fight the Pakistani rebels. Nehru was about to, but...
Lord Mountbatten (the British colonial at the time), told Nehru not to give the Indian army to Kashmir for nothing in return. Therefore, Nehru wrote an agreement: that India would only send Kashmir their army to help, if Kashmir agreed to be a part of India in return.
The leader of Kashmir, under duress, signed the treaty. India kept pushing Pakistan back, until the current partition. This is because, the Pakistanis had been pushed back onto the mountainous area of Kashmir, whereas the Indian army was still on a flat surface. They knew that the Pakistanis were at an advantageous height, and that they would kill all the Indian soldiers if they carried on trying to push back, so that is where they drew the border.
    So there are many questions.
    1. Should Pakistan have Kashmir?
    - The whole purpose of the divide was religious
    - Pakistan argues that this was initial agreement (religious divisions) that all the countries agreed to together
    2. Should India have Kashmir?
    - Legally, there is a document that the leader of Kashmir signed, and this document states that Kashmir will go to India in return for Indian aid
    - But is this document still legal, if it was signed under duress?
    3. Should Kashmir be independent?
    - Although the main purpose of the split was religious, each head of state in ( what was at the time India) was asked which country they wanted to be part of
    - If the leader of Kashmir wanted to remain independent, then do India or Pakistan claim a right to Kashmir?

    • @ambujbhaskar9288

@Sub to PewDiePie lol if they are independent they'll be annexed by Pakistan or china. They won't be able to survive between three nuclear states. Moreover, division on the basis of religion is never successful. Look at India we have 180 mil muslims and paxtan has 200mil. Not so much. But everything is way better in India. The Indian administered kashmir has gdp $22B and the Pakistani occupied one has mere $3B. India has given a special status to kashmir so that no Indian from other parts of the country can buy land or settle in kashmir but kashmiris can settle in india. But Pakistanis have taken advantages of this by ethnically cleansing the hindu population by spreading the radicalized Islamic propaganda.

As he mentioned, the water source comes from Kashmir and feeds in downstream towards pretty much the agricultural basket for both countries. Having an independent state may cause some troubles since both countries would try to gain leverage on that state and it may cause even further problems. However at this rate, both countries will be at each others throats until a major war erupts and that would be catastrophic. Also you have terrorists in the region and from what we know from Afghanistan, they'll never go away so it's a strange situation.
I guess there is no better option, its a bizarre situation and the people are paying the price of political power. Both countries should be ashamed but they have no shame.

Lot of holes.. First one is Hindus and Muslims can't get together?? So that's why they divided the Indian Sub-Continent??
It's all part of the 'Great Game' and the 'Great' colonial enterprise of British.
Last one is on 'Islam' itself that took over Kashmir, financed by Pakistan.

    • @ruchiktrivedi3059

jesshu22 well the Hindu Muslim issue is complex. First there is the fact that Hinduism is polytheistic and well Islam has had a rough history with those kinds of faiths. Then the fact that Muslims came as conquerors and Muslim rulers often oppressed Hindus. As a result the Hindus are now doing the same to Muslims which isn’t easing the tension. The British also didn’t make it better by fueling the hatred between the two groups. It’s a rough history between the two and it isn’t helped by the British or the creation of Pakistan.

Your thinking is based on secular thought, which developed when the westerners came to conclusion that religion is not the solution to their problems. Eventually it became a universal concept because of western dominance. It was transplanted in other societies, which were functioning on fundamentally different dynamics. Moghul empire functioned differently as 'princely states' were governed by their own monarchs, and they were to govern their states and swear allegiance to Moghul empire and provide for revenue and soldiers for central government. Religion came to the equation later, when British East India played this card to divide polity and cement their control. By end of British Raj, Muslims were fearful that the Hindu dominance would be to the detriment of Muslim rights as a minority and their religious freedom. That was the crux of Two Nation Theory, i.e. Hindi and Muslims have a different value system and it's best that they were given independent countries. While secular society may work for western civilization, with some problems like assimilation and resistance of sub cultures to accept the dominant culture. The secular system is under stress in India, where Muslims are at odds with growing Hindu culture under PM Modi, as they are forced to give up their religious freedom, such as restrictions of practice of religion and prosecution at the hands of government.
