Oprah, for me, is a mother to the motherless. I soaked her up like she was my lifeline as a kid. I cry to think of who I would have become had I not been able to turn that show on at 4pm everyday...and see that there is a better way to live...think...and work to heal yourself...I learned to take my God-given power and use it to love me in a way that influenced me to think, learn, become...at 13, she had me reading Wayne Dyer, Esther and Jerry Hicks, Iyanla Vanzant, and a host of othe novels that made me a world class woman capable of anything! I don't think there will ever be a person who touched so many different types of people from different cultures, walks of life...backgrounds...Our society was made better by Oprah. And we can tell that she is not on TV in the same way anymore by some of what is taking place...however, we know where to go to get more of her influence and I am grateful for that. As a kid, I used to sit in my mirror and pretend like I was being interviewed about my life and how I had overcome (before I actually overcame...lol) by Oprah! I would pretend I was a famous author who had written an amazing book that she loved, and I would be able to say that she was the reason I was able to survive and write it. If that never happens...I am good with it...just to know I did survive and went on to thrive is reward enough...those who know what love is can't even fathom that this goddess would ever spend a millisecond concerned with her weight when she has so much more to give us all than that. I got on Mounjaro and am proud of it. Because I grew up watching a woman who taught me at 4pm each day...to do what it takes to fix your life...heal your life...no matter who may have something to say...I am worthy of not fighting to survive diabetes II when there is help. I have lost the weight. And now I can focus on writing more and happily because I am not consumed with my weight and body shame.

@@elizabethmartins19of the new injections, they all are the same type, under the same class, and have similar effectiveness with varying pros and cons. Largely pre-existing conditions and INSURANCE and what will get PAID for the most to be cheapest….. is what’s dictating what people choose. So, that said, of the given options, learn to use your own brain, assess your own situation, have DISCOURSE with YOUR Doctor, learn to listen to YOUR body and what works best FOR YOU. I was on Ozempic, made me extremely nauseous, spoke with my doctor and now starting mounjaro today. I greatly appreciate Oprah having the foresight to approach this from the same angle by saying what I am on, is unimportant and ineffective to the talkinng points. You are a big girl and you need to learn to navigate the rest on your own, learning YOUR body with your healthcare providers. These drugs are all the same TYPE of drugs so cease duplicating others and “take it from here”. The horse has been led to the water, now it’s time to drink.

I will be 74 in July and have suffered every day for over 30 years with my weight, losing and gaining hundreds of pounds on countless programs. Alcoholism runs in my family, and I’ve been able to fight it off because I know it’s a disease and have gotten help. Nobody ever told me, until today, my weight is not my fault. It’s a disease. This honest and informative interview brought me to tears. Shame has been lifted! I’ve been praying to God for years to help me, and He has answered those thousands of prayers today. As far as the topic in this podcast, I’ve always carried 30 to 50 more pounds than I should. I took off just about all of the weight on my own (42 lbs) but still could not control my A1C. I’m a type two diabetic. The injectables have helped me greatly and took off those last 8 pounds. Why do I still feel shame because I couldn’t do it on my own? So if obesity is a disease, I wish these big food companies would stop adding so much sugar, bad fats, and GMO processed ingredients to food so it's not so unhealthy and addictive. Wow! Wow! Wow! Oprah is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!! I admire her and Jamie so much!!! 2 most powerful women! So soft and loving and yet, true Lionesses of business! That's the unique power of women! We can be soft and we can be Lionesses! Absolutely love their colors: the purple and white. Amazing colors for both of them! ❤❤❤

I am SO GRATEFUL @Jamie Kern Lima❤ After seeing you on UPW zoom then in person at UPW Dallas 2023 I fell in love with your mission, so in alignment with my own! Your poem from Worthy brings me to tears each time I read it. Oprah is my female hero too and I am so happy for you woman! You are worthy and deserving of it all. Thank you for the inspiration and example of success as a woman in the world. 🎉❤

This podcast was southing to my soul! I have read Worthy and truly feel seen by the book and this podcast. My weight has yo-yoed so much and I always thought it was my fault. Jamie taught me not to "Wait on my Weight". I think for some reason I thought I wasn't good enough unless I was starving myself and a certain weight. This podcast is so valuable and I can wait for the next episode!

The level of vulnerability is so profound that Oprah displayed. I knew that people had made fun of her weight struggle but didn't know how intense it was. I can only say for myself who also had been publicly shamed that the immense courage she has daily displayed is even more awe inspiring. Thank you Jaime for further adding value to society for bringing not only the medical news about obseity to the forefront but also the fantastic interview with your friend, Oprah. I can't wait for part two. This is truly inspiring. Let's get the word out about this new podcast and that being overweight is a disease.

Wonderful interview Jamie. Oprah's honesty about her weight struggles will cause me to talk to my Endocrinologist in July.I've been struggling with my weight for years now. I'm 70 like Oprah and don't want to go into the next decade with this weight. I'm so glad you continued to talk about our worthiness and the shame that comes when we don't feel worthy no matter what we are dealing with. I'm looking forward to Part 2 of your interview with Oprah with the wisdom and insights you both have.

A number of statements.... I will continue to astonish the world with my kindness, understanding, open heartedness... Her kindness is an extension of the sources kindness God. The s source of kindness...The gifts she has is from the same source. She sets her intention on serving the people as opposed to performing for them. The intention of serving the audience, the good energy behind the intention. Has returned back to her in' 'good fruits ' for her many many many times over.. Lean into your intuition and learn to trust your intuition. Remain open to disccovering your dream role here on earth.... Use prayer and silence.

God Bless… Even though I never really had a weight problem there’s other self-esteem issues that go on with women as well and not “good enough” 😢 A verbally abusive father a brutal attack from a stranger and horrible car accident with broken facial bones… I held onto my story that I was broken …I was not good enough…pretty enough smart enough. 😢With my own journey, I did turn my mess into a message just like you Oprah and Jaime..I am a coach and esthetician and help women “Love The Skin they are in” 🩵 This has been on my heart forever and thank you for bringing this to light.
I love when Oprah shared her letter to her younger self and that she will continue to “astonish a mean word with her kindness”

It's amazing to me that I can feel so much better after I enjoyed this podcast! It's always so much better to deal with the weight issue when someone else can relate. JKL and Oprah are both amazing and I learn so much each time I listen. I want to be able to channel my take-aways in the moments when I most need them! It's about time we be able to talk about this with each other and be able to lift one another up when we can! I pray this movement continues to cause waves of change within each of us, for each of us and that we are part of the wave for others. I share pieces of "Worthy" all the time to people who've not had the experience of reading it yet (which I can't believe!). It's life changing- and the podcast makes it even more so! Thank you to JKL, her Team, Oprah and the Worthy World Community! ❤

The same is true for a lot of "mental illness" - it is actually a vitamin and mineral processing difference and our brains miss out on essential nutrients. I've found certain supplement protocols drastically help any anxiety or depression.

I called my Dr too. However, insurance won't cover it until I am deemed diabetic. My A1C is pre diabetic. Just had blood work done my cholesterol went from 203 to 270 since last November and I have lost 20 pounds since I have a disabled husband only working 10 hours a week and his medical expenses I can't afford the full cost of these meds. I am on WW. I took up swimming laps. 1/2 mile every other day. Walking over 10k per day. It took me 6 months to lose 5 pounds, after losing 15 in 3 mos. I wish the average person had access to these medications.😢

WoW I Love this podcast. I do not know where to rate this other than here and I definitely give it the highest top rating plus!!! Jamie You are a wonderful and beautiful hostess, ThankYou. Oprah has been one of my favourite people, favourite celebrities, for many years. I Love Her honesty and authenticity especially in this interview.
ThankYou Oprah. I actually had an aha moment. How freeing it feels to know now that my weight problem is not my fault. I had no idea. Why have these scientists and Drs not made this discovery more public? Not nice I have another disease although much better than the other disease and health problems I now have because of my weight gain. I was always very thin until late 30s, ballooned up then. I am now 62. I lost some weight after I went off some other meds and then my My Husband passed away 3 years ago. Now I have put it back on and I have been feeling terrible. I have been against trying medication to help me lose weight yet I have an upcoming appointment with my nurse practitioner ( I have no Dr in Ontario Canada) and I am going to ask about it now with no shame. I will be sharing this with someone I know needs to hear this too. Looking forward to part 2. ThankYou so very much❤🫶💕

There were many poignant and real moments in this episode as well as tools for navigating one’s life. Trust yourself. Be open to what you are here for not what you think you are here for. Oprah’s letter to herself was filled with wisdom. I was saddened by the pain that Oprah and others have endured over their weight. We as a culture often judge what we don’t understand and can be cruel and insensitive to one another. Learning that we are enough no matter what others say and that we are worthy of love and that love begins with our loving ourself is a lesson we all need to integrate into every fiber of our being.
