Just because someone isn't a "professional" that does not mean they can't charge PROPERLY for their work. If you don't wanna pay an artist, you don't deserve the artwork. Materials cost money, Time is money. Even if it's a digital piece, it can take many hours to make.
I'm grateful that the majority of members of my church appreciate that people deserve to be paid for their work and have been grateful to me. As I mature (too slowly) I've begun to appreciate that a true friend doesn't ask for discounts, but supports them by paying full price when they can. If you can't pay, then don't expect anything.

There are people in religion and out of religion that twist their "beliefs" to get what they want. The reason we see it more with religion is that, up until the Internet, it was the easiest way for a group of whackjobs to get together in one place. Never before in my life have heard people say "work smarter not harder" in a negative way. Even my trade school teacher, who is of that generation, told me how to work efficiently with less effort, lift with the legs, mark before you cut, make sure it's level, the first day in his class he taught us how to build our own work bench (he provided the tools)

Yep. I grew up around Christians like this. I was even sick with a heart condition and would randomly pass out before treated, got lectured so many times by good Christians that I was being punished for listening to the devils music (mind you i didn't know these people let alone them knowing what I listen to). The last time was in my christian school cafeteria, a teacher took me outside while i wasn't even fully conscious to tell me the devil had a hold of me, my parents were never called, an ambulance was never called, I was 16. They killed my belief in Jesus or God. If an entity like that exists they and i can discuss things later.

We did t know what was even wrong with me at the time, but the school set up precautions to keep me safe and let me lay or sit on the floor when I didnt feel well.

My husband's grandmother was a Lutheran, and she was expected to pay 10% of her income as a tithe to the church. This was despite the fact she was living on a meager fixed income and could barely afford food and utilities. I actually went and talked to her pastor about it because she was struggling, and I was told it was required for her to get into heaven. So I continued to buy her weekly groceries, run her errands for her, and pay her electric bill until she passed away. I will never regret helping her, but I was informed by her church members I was a heathen sinner who would burn for eternity in the fiery pits of hell because I'm an atheist WHILE at her FUNERAL. Christian hypocrisy.

I'm sorry but a true church is not like this. They will help the needy members of the congregation. The ten percent is usually used to pay for utilities and such the members who can afford it give.

I will say I've commissioned artwork before and I had to explain that I really wanted this piece for my dad but couldn't afford to pay very much at one time. I made it expressly known that I wasn't trying to haggle on the price as his art was well worth his asking price... I just couldn't pay all at once. He was ok with that. We worked out an agreement and I made payments. Long story short, my dad cried when he saw the piece (it was of my late grandmother... His mom) honestly artists are awesome and will usually work with you on commissions if you're not a total dick about it 🤷♀️

And I think they also think that it gives them some sort of immunity, because they try to use the less relegious person's lack of relegious activities as their advantage. In their logic it make sense that if someone is not relegious much then they don't know anything therefore can say any bollocks they want. When I was 4 my mum wanted me and my brother (baby at the time) to have us baptised. I am an artist. I charge for commission work by multiplying the size of the piece to get a base price, so a 48x60 that would START at $2880 Artist offering to do it for $300 was an EXTREME discount. She did the right thing by her sticking to her standards and calling out the beggar lady for being unChristian. Who claims to be a Christian and then just rants out on a person by cutting them down. Yep. I grew up around Christians like this. I was even sick with a heart condition and would randomly pass out before treated, got lectured so many times by good Christians that I was being punished for listening to the devils music (mind you i didn't know these people let alone them knowing what I listen to). The last time was in my christian school cafeteria, a teacher took me outside while i wasn't even fully conscious to tell me the devil had a hold of me, my parents were never called, an ambulance was never called, I was 16. They killed my belief in Jesus or God. If an entity like that exists they and i can discuss things later.

My husband's grandmother was a Lutheran, and she was expected to pay 10% of her income as a tithe to the church. This was despite the fact she was living on a meager fixed income and could barely afford food and utilities. I actually went and talked to her pastor about it because she was struggling, and I was told it was required for her to get into heaven. So I continued to buy her weekly groceries, run her errands for her, and pay her electric bill until she passed away. I will never regret helping her, but I was informed by her church members I was a heathen sinner who would burn for eternity in the fiery pits of hell because I'm an atheist WHILE at her FUNERAL. It went to court and he won.

As the saying goes "In court, evidence is everything". If you can't prove it, it's basically just slander. The letter has childish writing, so could be written by anyone, and they won't check for DNA or fingerprints over something so trivial (that's reserved for bigger crimes). OP needs CCTV, that'll be evidence enough.

3. We do NOT believe in "Karma" happening here on Earth, they will be judged. Karma is a Buddhist thing.
4. You don't need to pay 20% of your money to the church, donate what you can, I personally donate some canned food and my parents do some extra money. But it usually won't make you be better in the eyes of God, you should want to help people anyways. If you are on hard times God would understand you need to survive.
5. She calls her husband's death practically a "blessing" and his money a "blessing" but she seems to be a gold digger because does she miss her husband? She doesn't mention it.

I will say I've commissioned artwork before and I had to explain that I really wanted this piece for my dad but couldn't afford to pay very much at one time. I made it expressly known that I wasn't trying to haggle on the price as his art was well worth his asking price... I just couldn't pay all at once. He was ok with that. We worked out an agreement and I made payments. Long story short, my dad cried when he saw the piece (it was of my late grandmother... His mom) honestly artists are awesome and will usually work with you on commissions if you're not a total dick about it 🤷♀️

And I think they also think that it gives them some sort of immunity, because they try to use the less relegious person's lack of relegious activities as their advantage. In their logic it make sense that if someone is not relegious much then they don't know anything therefore can say any bollocks they want.
I guess it doesn't help either when priests are trying to over explain or explain misleadingly than what is in the bible either.
When I was 4 my mum wanted me and my brother (baby at the time) to have us baptised. The priest gave my mum a bible and a book 3x bigger and thicker than the bible for me to learn everything about it then come back and we can get baptised. Never the less my dad was fuming and took the books back and threw them towards the priest quoting a line from the bible which says: "to the house of the lord everyone is welcome".
Another story from my dad was when he was going to this meetings with my mum before their wedding to a vicar who was conducting it. My dad was ripping into the vicar whenever he was trying to explain things different how the bible wrote. The vicar hated that my dad questioned and corrected almost everything he said. My mum had to beg my dad to stop otherwise he would get kicked out and the vicar wouldn't let them get married.

I am an artist. I charge for commission work by multiplying the size of the piece to get a base price, so a 48x60 that would START at $2880 Artist offering to do it for $300 was an EXTREME discount. She did the right thing by her sticking to her standards and calling out the beggar lady for being unChristian. Who claims to be a Christian and then just rants out on a person by cutting them down. Voodoo is too good for her.
My question is, what did her husband do that god is punishing him so much? Must have been a doozy.
